Andrew Hou's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Hou is a very good physician for pain management. However, calling his office for an appointment is similar to calling the most inefficient government agency in the world. It takes at least 30 minutes to talk with someone. I called for an appointment at 8:35. I was #4 in queue. It's 10:04 and I have not been contacted.

No. I was rudely informed by his assistant that Dr. Hou had fired me as a patient because I had been upset when she woke me from a desperately needed afternoon nap with a phone call. I had experienced an entire week of sleeplessness from intense pain after seeing Dr. Hou. I had unanswered questions about his advised treatment plan, so I revealed that I was seeking a second opinion. In the meantime, I ended up in an emergency room from intolerable pain. My communications with his assistant did not go well even though other office staff seemed to understand the extreme pain I was suffering. Internal office communications appear to have been bungled in various ways. In short, I am dismayed by the lack of compassionate care in this practice. Medical professionals should understand that people in great pain may not always be calm and patients have a right to seek second opinions. My impression is that their practice has grown too quickly. They are losing touch with their patients.

I am currently being treated by Dr. Hou. First, he truly does have the best bedside manners I have ever seen.Second, he takes all the time in the world to explain the issue, your options, and answer all your questions.Lastly, this doc knows his stuff. He's super competent and will try to do whatever is necessary to get you healed without surgery. He's easily one of the best doctors I have been treated by.  Thank you Dr. Hou!

Dr Hou was dismissive during my visit and said maybe some stretching would help my condition when I made it clear I had already done 5 months of intensive physical therapy. After speaking to other office staff I found out he didn’t even properly document my symptoms.

Dr. Hou was dismissive during my visit, telling me that maybe I should try some stretching for my injury after I told him that I had done 5 months of intensive physical therapy. I later found out he also did not properly document my symptoms during this visit. I decided to stick it out since he got an MRI approved from insurance quickly--big mistake. I tried to get an in person follow up but was told he mostly does telemedicine. I take time off work for this appointment and when the time comes the Zoom link they send keeps asking for a password they did not provide. I'm not worried as I provided my cell phone number during online check in for this exact purpose. I understand he's not going to sit around waiting but I would have expected a single attempt to contact me. By the time I get through to the office they tell me that he immediately marked me as a no show and is unavailable for the next two weeks.

Dr. Hou switched my 90 year old Mom to Lyrica without tapering gabapentin.  He should know you don't just take someone off gabapentin and start a new medication to see if it works. She hasn't been able to sit down for 12 days and is in excruciating pain. Obviously Dr. Hou missed the part of instructions on the gabapentin that it must be weaned off. Huge fail Dr Hou! Waiting for you to call and offer your excuse.

I took a day off to take my mom to see Dr. Hou today for her appointment at 8:45am. We were 5 minutes away and received a call at 8:21am from the office. The lady said, "Sorry, we have to cancel your mom's appointment today because we no longer accept Medical." I asked, "Can we pay out of pocket?" She replied, "No!"WTF!!! WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL US WHEN WE MADE THE APPOINTMENT 2 WEEKS AGO!!!FUCKING STUPID!!!

The lady said, “Sorry, we have to cancel your mom’s appointment today because we no longer accept Medical.” I asked, “Can we pay out of pocket?” She replied, “No!” WTF!!! WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL US WHEN WE MADE THE APPOINTMENT 2 WEEKS AGO!!! FUCKING STUPID!!!

I am writing this review on behalf of my 80 year old mother who is a patient of Dr. Hou. She is so excited to leave this review for him.“I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Hou. He is an expert in his field. He explains everything and truly cares about finding a solution to pain. He cares about the whole person, physically and emotionally; it’s apparent in his patient bed-side manner.. He is also personable; it's really easy to talk to him. I had been experiencing excruciating lower back pain that was shooting down both legs causing weakness in my legs. He very quickly diagnosed me with inflammation and set me up for a noninvasive outpatient procedure at a surgery center. The pain subsided almost immediately. By my follow-up appointment, I was 75% pain free. Now, just 3 months after my procedure, I am completely pain free!! My pain is GONE. Dr. Hou and his staff are efficient and nice. I highly recommend Dr. Hou!”
