List of Valery Uhl's Reviews
Dr. Valerie Uhl was amazing!! She is patient and took quite a bit of time with me to explain the radiation process I was a candidate for. It was specialized as a one time treatment and only a small group of doctors are able to provide this level of care at the same time as my surgery. She also took an hour with me after my biopsy came back in to explain what my form of cancer was. I'd highly recommend her and the team of professionals she works with.
I had breast cancer and Dr. Uhl went over my xrays and pathology report and answered my questions in detail. She explained that I may not benefit from any radiation and ordered a genomic test that showed I was low risk and that there would be no benefit to radiation after my lumpectomy. I am so grateful for her honesty and explanations. It has been more than 2 years and I am still caner free.
Dr. Uhl was on time for my consult. She shows you an excellent video about radiation oncology the first 15 minutes of the 1.5 hour consult. I knew nothing about breast radiation so I found the video very informative and gave it an A+. She then customizes her recommendation for your particular cancer. It turns out some women don't even need radiation! Others, like me, can have all the radiation done in minutes in the OR as the cancer is being removed. Dr. Uhl comes to the OR and works with the breast surgeon. They are a team and individualize the treatment. I felt in excellent hands and have done very well with no skin redness or burn. I am very grateful to Dr. Uhl and my breast surgeon for offering this amazing breast cancer treatment option.
I am very pleased with the care I received at the Emeryville clinic. Dr Uhl explained everything with great care and detail. She also gave me her cell phone and email for questions in between treatments. Her knowledge and experience were a great comfort to me. Dr Sachdeva was also very professional and kind and took great care of me. Jenifer the medical assistant was very gracious, kind and helpful, and checked in with me about how to navigate the facility, informed me if there was a delay, and put me at ease. The radiation therapists, Diane, Robyn and Michelle were wonderful. They answered all my questions, were very supportive, professional and did an amazing job. The entire staff made a very difficult time much better than I expected. I highly recommend this practice, and the entire staff.
Dr Yuhl. is truly a gem. Meeting her every week during the treatments, she is caring, organized and so informative. She maps out not only these treatments but the rest of the cancer journey with all of my physician visits and what to expect for the future. Her breast cancer research expertise gives me cutting edge care. From the receptionists:Terrance and Torria, (wait time: max 0--2 people) to the extremely efficient, warm & compassionate, radiation techs: Michelle, Diane, Robin (+others) who made these treatments really reasonably comfortable. Appts were on time with precise care. They were always there to explain every step of the way. Being a critical care RN for 40 years RN, this is the best care I can imagine now that I am a patient. I am confident this is the best place to be for the care I am receiving. Truly excellence in care with this team of professionals.
She was late by greater than 60 minutes to each appt. or didn’t bother showing up at all to 3 scheduled appts. without notice. Not ok. Showing a video during an appt should not be billable medical services. It’s available online. She talks incessantly. I would time her. Impressive. She’s go for a solid 30 without stopping. Wow. I found her painfully condescending. I burned horribly with long lasting consequences. Of course, she never knew because she couldn’t be bothered to show up. That’s not good care. There are other providers.
I just finished four weeks of daily radiation for breast cancer from Dr Uhl at Epic Care in Emeryville. I can't speak more highly of Dr. Uhl and her office staff. Dr Uhl explained everything thoroughly, was compassionate and very professional. So was her medical assistants Gloria and Alejandra. When I entered the office they always had a smile on their face and answered all my questions. Michelle, Robyn and Diane, the radioactive technicians, were caring and professional. I was scared for my procedure but trusted them implicitly. I would without a doubt recommend this office and her staff.
Her staff works hard. The parking is easy, as is freeway access. Maybe I met Dr. Uhl's alter ego. I did not feel the magic. Others are correct - the woman likes to talk. Initially, I entertained myself behind my mask, in silence to see just how long her self-directed monologues would go. 45 minutes is what I got. Cool. She doesn't do anything different than the standard fare, refusing any accommodations and shooting down newer, proven techniques. Pretty straight forward and conventional. The plan is for her to tell you what and for you to do it. So if you're looking for that, she's your gal. I suppose we must remember, we aren't here to make friends; we tattoo ourselves like feeder pigs, then put our meat slab selves on a table in a big, cold room with our naked parts featured for all to poke, scribble on, and lean on while they chat lunch orders and smack their gum. Then you listen to the whiz-bang-clangs for however many days, hoping that the special napalm fries you to that perfectly perfect crisp so that you might stick around and bother those you love for a while longer. Good luck and hang tough. Cancer is not for amateurs.
I feel very fortunate, as someone who--unfortunately-- has had early breast cancer twice, to be under the care of Dr. Uhl. She spent as much time as needed with my partner and myself explaining things. She is funny and personable, and an incredibly well informed physician/researcher. With my second occurrence, I underwent what I gather is a fairly recently developed form of radiation, which involved going twice a day for one week. During Covid, it was especially reassuring to have the treatment shortened from the standard 20 appointments to ten. Dr. Uhl's team--Robyn, Michelle and Diane--could not have been nicer nor more competent. I am very grateful to them as well.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
