I love Dr. Tran she is awesome but her staffing is a whole different ball game. They mix you up with different patients they have you schedule an appointment with MRI and then call you a few days later saying it's an error that you don't need to schedule it and then they are totally clueless about your case when they call you, they don't return calls they don't return messages. You asked for a manager leave a manager a message two times no response. I'm not sure that Dr. Tran is even aware of what's going on in her office stuff. I'm thinking about going somewhere else but I love Dr. Tran so we will see.
Dr. Vivian Le-Tran was the very first doctor on the Epic Care Team that I met with. I remember being nervous and scared, and I found her demeanor immensely comforting. When she sat down with my husband and me to go over the recommended treatment, she jotted down the key points on a piece of paper. Looking back I realize how important that was. I never would have been able to recall the treatment plan (much less spell all those medical terms) without her assistance. Her presentation was calm and confident. It was her confidence and soft spoken demeanor that put me at ease. At the end of our first meeting, she shared a meditation app that she uses. I decided to download and use the app and I'm so glad that I did. On top of helping me find much needed calm during my treatment, a happy coincidence was that she used the app to play music during surgery. Hearing the familiar music made me smile and gave me an extra boost of calm going into surgery. Dr. Le-Tran is an excellent surgeon. My trust in her was well-placed. I look at my breast today in awe and wonder--that diseased tissue was removed so cleanly and what a relief to know the boundaries were clear. I was impressed with Dr. Le-Tran's work on my breast but I was asleep when it happened. I was awake when she removed my port and--wow!--what a relief. I didn't feel anything after the numbing medication. In fact, I didn't even know it was out until she asked if I wanted to see it. She distracted me with friendly chatter about Thanksgiving. For the care she provided I will forever be grateful!
Dr Le-Tran was the first cancer doctor I saw after I was diagnosed with breast cancer at age 34. I was terrified, and brand new to the cancer lingo & even how the medical system worked. Dr Le-Tran is a kind, calm, clear, & compassionate communicator and a great listener. She answered all my many questions each visit, in accessible language & without rushing me. She has always been kind and caring with my mom and partner (who came with me to visits pre-COVID - with lots of questions of their own). She's also careful, methodical and exacting - exactly what you want in a surgeon! Instead of getting a breast implant after my mastectomy, I opted for an "aesthetic flat closure" - in other words, I chose to go flat (no breast reconstruction). I've always been pretty flat-chested anyway & I didn't want to have any more surgeries to put implants in. After reading horror stories on the internet about unsupportive surgeons and seeing photos of botched surgeries with sagging flaps of skin, I was pretty scared. Dr Le-Tran took the time to answer all my questions. She was open & supportive about my decision not to get a breast implant, and we had candid conversations about my surgical goals to make sure we were on the same page. She also set my expectations by explaining that it's not always possible to achieve a perfectly smooth, flat result so I wasn't set up for disappointment. She was real with me about what outcomes might be possible, and she genuinely listened to me and made sure she understood MY priorities. I trust her. Dr Le-Tran did an incredible job on my surgery. Other members of my care team - all breast specialists who have seen a lot of mastectomies - have remarked on the smooth, flat scar and what an incredible job she did. My cancer case & surgery were also somewhat complicated, requiring a tumor board review and some tough decisions. She was transparent and real with me throughout. Dr Le-Tran felt like a partner in my care, who kept me informed, shared her thinking, and supported me to make the decisions that were right for me. After you have a mastectomy, you have to wait for the pathology results - when they test all the tissue they removed and see exactly how far the cancer has spread. The wait for results is agonizing. I will never forget that Dr Le-Tran called me personally the day she got the pathology results back. She called me herself - from vacation! - so I wouldn't have to wait a day longer for the results. I drive to Dublin from Oakland to keep seeing Dr Le-Tran for follow up care, because she's the best! She's really, really good at her job and she goes above and beyond for her patients. Cancer is so scary and overwhelming, and having Dr Le-Tran in my corner made it so much easier to navigate. I'll alway feel lucky that she was my breast surgeon.
I did not choose Dr. LeTran as my breast surgeon. She was gifted to me. About a month earlier I was diagnosed with stage1 breast cancer. I was confused, afraid and cried a lot with no family near by. At my first appointment with Dr. LeTran, she sat on a stool and wheeled herself in front of me with a note pad in her hand. A sign of good bedside manners. She then drew anatomical diagrams to explain to me where the growth was in relation to the lymph nodes and reassured me it was in situ. Then she explained the options and sequence of treatment...surgery, chemo then radiation. Prior to that, I knew nothing about breast cancer, I only heard about it. Dr.LeTran eased my fear and anxiety with her confident, professional and pleasant demeanor. She is spunky, energetic and very knowledgeable with the answers to my questions. A year later when she removed my port she even calmed my tension with soothing meditative music. I am extremely grateful for her compassion, professionalism and the gift to save my life. I will not hesitate to recommend her to future cancer patients.
I was diagnosed with early stage breast cancer after a routine mammogram when I was 50 (no family history, etc). My doctor picked up her cell phone and called an oncologist friend of hers, who is with Epic Care. Within 2 days I had an appointment with Dr. Le-Tran (as well as with the radiation oncologist and the oncologist). She was the first of the three doctors I met with at Epic and she couldn't have been more down to earth and lovely. The empathy and compassion has been evident since the first appointment. She gave me my options and what she would do if it were her or her mom, which was so helpful. By the end of the day, I had a "team" of women doctors that I was thrilled with! Don't get me wrong, I was scared to death...but I knew I had the best doctors and surgeon out there, and that calmed me right down. I am coming up on 2 years post surgery and look forward to my appointments to see Dr. Le-Tran, and everyone at Epic, quite frankly. The fact it's all under one roof was a huge bonus! I hope I never have to refer anyone to them, but I would not hesitate one second to do so. Gina BrisonLivermore, CA
Dr. Le-Tran is my moms Doctor and she has been great, and helpful. She walked us through before and after surgery, I highly recommend her! We are so Thankful for all her knowledge.
I am grateful to have been referred to Dr. Vivian Le-Tran by Dr. Wilson Tong, Oncologist. My husband and I met with Dr. Le-Tran immediately following a breast cancer diagnosis. I was numb with fear that day. My initial reaction to meeting the doctor stemmed from her calm demeanor. She inquired how I and my husband were handling this unsettling news. She was kind, concerned, yet confident. Dr. Le-Tran was knowledgeable about my case and thoroughly prepared to discuss, describe, and illustrate on paper the details of the cancer. She sketched the exact location of cancer; shared how it would be removed and what could occur cosmetically. Dr. Le-Tran discussed the reality and risks of my case. I felt informed and was able to ask questions based on her illustration. On the day of my surgery, while feeling extremely anxious, Dr. Le-Tran appeared at my bedside prior to surgery with her kind, calm, confident demeanor. She reiterated what was to take place. My surgery was successful in both removal of the cancer with minimal scarring for my specific surgery. Dr. Le-Tran is a brilliant breast surgeon, my family and I were fortunate and blessed to have her as my doctor. Thank you Doctor Le-Tran!
