List of George Y. Hisatomi's Reviews
One of the most caring doctors I have ever experienced. Takes the time to talk to you and address all issues. Has been my doctor for over 10 years. Hope he does not retire soon. Hard to find doctors that care like he does.
Greatest Doctor EVER! I would recommend him for sure.
I honestly believe that perhaps the “system” is dictating our level of care. It’s as if they go down a checklist of pre-approved approaches regardless of the issue or actual problem (only superficially addressing a symptom). I suspect this is a Sutter approach versus specific to Hisatomi, as I have received the same type of care and prescriptions for two different types of symptoms (spanning the exact same meds in a specific sequence after multiple visits but both doctors stating the contents/purpose of those meds as different). Hisatomi has been my PCP for quite some time. I’ve been relatively healthy so I haven’t been receiving care excessively enough to ‘need’ to change. I brought up multiple items during last visit with most going unaddressed, not even looked at, and summarily dismissed as if I don’t know my own body. So much for unique, person-specific care. I truly felt that I was just pushed thru the proverbial machine and system to get to the next appointment on scheduled time. It’s unfortunate that I don’t feel being listened to for my now aging health.
I've been a patient of Dr. Hisatomi's for a couple of years and have decided to switch to another PCP within my medical group because of his dismissive and judgmental attitude towards me on several occasions. I asked him on two separate occasions for a referral to a dermatologist due to 50+ years of extreme sun and some recent changes to moles on my face that concern me. Both times he flat-out refused to refer because he said my skin looked fine and the dermatologists will get mad if he sends people "who don't have skin cancer" (his exact words). He did not take a biopsy or look at my skin for more than 5 seconds before he determined he wasn't going to refer me. I also have significant arthritis and chronic pain that flares up a couple of times a month and he refuses to prescribe anything more than ibuprofen 800 that will help me during a flare up. I ask for the lowest dosage for flare ups only. He instantly refers to the opioid epidemic and how they shouldn't be taken on an ongoing basis. So even though they are a legal path to help me, I live in pain. And I'm pretty sure taking as much ibuprofen as I do isn't very good for me either... I feel that Dr. Hisatomi is more concerned about what others may think of him than of me, his own patient who is the one suffering.
Dr. Hisatomi has been our family Doctor for over 15 years. He has always been compassionate and kind to my wife & I. We had such a great experience with him that my wife changed my Mother in law from Kaiser to Sutter so she could see Dr. Hisatomi as well. She had been having health problems and Kaiser wouldn’t do the tests we requested. Dr. Hisatomi immediately investigated what was wrong & found that my Mother in law had lung cancer. He referred her to one of Sutter’s cancer doctors & they were able to remove all the cancer because it was caught early in stage 1. She lived nearly a decade longer & eventually passed away from natural causes. Dr Hisatomi & his staff followed her closely until the very end of her life. He was a huge support to our entire family. He is by far our favorite Dr.
If there was an option to give this doctor 0 stars, I would. Dr. George Y Hisatomi was by far my worst experience since I've been a patient at Sutter Health in Elk Grove. My back went out this morning and I was in tremendous pain. He came off in a very accusatory, judgmental manner. And to make matters worse, he didn't even want to examine my lower back. While I was in his office, I felt as though I was being falsely accused of doing something wrong and stereotyped, both my son and I. It was absolutely one of the worst experiences I have ever had at the doctor's office. I left feeling humiliated.
Dr. Hisatomi save my life not once but twice now. I was having a heart attack in the office, and was taken immediately to the hospital, thanks to Dr. Hisatomi. I'm so very satisfied with his professional manner. He takes the time to listen and discuss with me what the problem is so that I can understand. If something comes up that advise is needed I use the Sutter website and his replies are fast and he even follow thru with a phone call. I am so grateful to have found this doctor.
I'm so glad that I found Dr. Hisatomi, I never liked going to doctors until I found Dr. Hisatomi. His staff is courteous, prompt and the wait time is very limited. Unfortunately I had a heart attack in the office and Dr. Hisatomi saved my life. I wouldn't be here today without his help. The ease of making an appointment and Dr. Hisatomi follow up is the best I've known. Never has a doctor sat down with me, listen to what I have to say and then go over all my options to lower my weight, blood pressure and diabetes. I enjoy going to Dr. Hisatomi. If you need a doctor I would advise that you go to him.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
