List of Acuity Eye Group - Encinitas's Reviews
The staff and Doctors at Acuity Eye Group Encinitas are wonderful ...skilled and kind. I am pleased with my glasses & contact lenses. Excellent service & the convenience of a great selection of eye glasses in their office too.
I could not give this place a worse rating.I've been in 15 times and still have no prescription. Not to mention I've come in for my appointment and the lobby is standing room only.I can't wait to just get my prescription and get out of this place forever
Forced to wait 45 minutes past my appointment time and then overcharged and lied to about what my insurance covers. Called and they say they can't do anything until 60 days after they charge. Don't waste your time or money.
I've been to this eye clinic twice now. They have very well organized operation, excellent doctors and competent doc assistants. Besides the fact that I walked in with hole in my retina, and walked out all fixed (they did a laser surgery on me right there, in their office), all care instructions, and prescription for new glasses 2.5 hours later. The surgeon was Dr. Hudson. The preparation took an hour or so, because two doctors were looking into my case, but the actual surgery lasted for about 90 seconds or so. I only saw very bright light and felt some tickles, that's it. No pain at all. The night after the surgery the eye was kinda sensitive but I didn't even take any pain meds.On my second visit (check up) the same Dr. Looked at my eye. That took them total of 30 min or so.They scheduled my next checkup in 2 weeks.
What is the first thing every staff member, assistant, nurse and doctor does when they see a patient? Verify their identity. This team does not do that. As a new patient you walk in, write your appointment time down, fill out your paperwork but they don’t ask for ID or insurance information. You might think this is fine because you probably have a doctor that referred you to the office and transferred information. HOWEVER, this was not the case for my mom.She went in as a new patient and apparently another patient with the same first name was also scheduled for the same date and time because they called her up and my mom was with the staff for about 10 minutes into the appointment before they realized they had the wrong patient. At no point did they ask to confirm my mom’s name or birthdate to verify that they had the right patient. What was even worse is that they charged my mom a copay thinking that she was the other patient (my mom has state insurance and does not need to pay copays). They didn’t even correct the mistake there, we had to call back to get the charge refunded. After realizing that they had the wrong patient they wouldn’t even see her and told us my mom’s appointment wasn’t for another month (even though the other patient never showed up and we had previously confirmed that her appointment was that day). When we came back for another appointment it was the same thing. Nobody ever asked to verify her full name and date of birth and when I asked the man who took us to the exam room to verify her identity he acted as if it that was an idiotic question. All in all the staff is rude and unprofessional and they clearly don’t have basic standards in place necessary of a reputable medical facility.
DO NOT GO HERE! I have eye insurance which covers my eye exam. I paid my $10 copay then received a bill in the mail for the entire cost. I called Acuity multiple times to explain that I am covered and they said they would deal with it. One month later, I call back and I still have the same balance and no one even told me. Do not go here.
Great Doctors and Staff ALL in one place! They are welcoming, knowledgeable and kind!
Every staff member has been friendly, professional and efficient. I am thrilled that my treatment has improved my vision. Huge thanks to all for the kindness and care.
Worst experience ever. Listen to the bad reviews!1) It was such an ordeal to make an appointment. They are under-staffed and pretty disorganized in their office.2) They couldn't access my eye insurance on the day of my appointment, and didn't bother to look it up in advance even though I had made the appointment weeks in advance. 3) They told me that they would figure out my insurance and call me back the following Monday (my appointment was a Friday afternoon). I told them I was in a hurry as there was only two months left on my insurance. I heard NOTHING. They never reached out. They never confirmed anything. I had to call back and the lady was like, "Oh, weird they didn't call you. Yeah we figured out the insurance." But they were supposed to call so that I could order my glasses. She took my information, they still NEVER CALLED BACK. Literally the worst customer care ever!Going somewhere else...

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
