List of MIchael J Skyhar's Reviews
I don't typically leave reviews, but felt compelled after my visit with Dr. Skyhar this morning. What a phenomenal visit. I'm seeking multiple opinions for my knee, and he stood out amongst all the doctors I've met with. You can tell he cares about getting you right and will give you all the time you need to make sure you leave his office with all your questions and concerns answered. And most importantly, with a plan in place you can feel confident in because his plan is to gather as much information as possible before doing any kind of surgery.
We've gone to Dr Skyhar for years and have followed him to different locations. Would highly recommend! He's done my knee, my husband's knee and shoulder.
I am an active 61-year old that loves to walk, hike, bike, and backpack. This past year I have experienced worsening arthritis in my knee (due to bone on bone condition). My arthritis had gotten so bad that I was not able to do my normal daily walks on the coast. I tried everything and nothing worked. Then I visited Dr. Skyhar. He reviewed my knee and my MRI and suggested that I try 3 Hyaluronan injections. Over a period of 3 weeks I received the injections and 3 weeks later a miracle occurred - 90% of my knee pain was gone. I walked 10 miles this morning and I experienced no knee pain. I cannot sufficiently express my appreciation for this improvement - it is life-changing. I am back to biking 50 miles and walking 10 miles and with this comes a huge improvement in my mental happiness. Thank you Dr. Skyhar - I cannot thank you enough!!
I have seen Dr. Skyhar about 9 times and he is outstanding. Excellent communicator and answers all your questions. I enjoy my visits even if there are needles involved.
An orthopedic surgeon and friend of mine recently moved out of state. When I injured my arm and shoulder mountain biking he recommended Dr. Skylar. In fact, everyone from my physical therapist, occupational therapist, friends, and primary care doctor referred me to Dr. Skyhar. His office was very clean and had Covid protocols in place. The ladies behind the counter were awesome! I was skeptical to see anyone at first as I don't want a doctor that goes straight to cutting and I was not disappointed with Skyhar as he never once mentioned surgery. He actually seems to promote everything but surgery. So I got a cortisone shot in my shoulder after an MRI and a nerve conduction study and he diagnosed me with frozen shoulder. I went back after a month and because I said I was 90% better get said I didn't need a second shot and that physical therapy would resolve my issue and so far, he's right! Very happy I came to Dr. Skyhar and I know you will be as well!
Professional, honest, takes time with you and truly listens. Have had two prior surgeries performed by him. He tries to resolve issues without surgery first. Highly recommend this Doctor.
Great experience. Like many men- I put off any sort of treatment thinking the pain would go away or I would "work it out." After 3 months of physical therapy and still no improvement I went to Dr Skyhar thinking surgery was the only solution. He was quick to tell me that I did NOT in fact need surgery. It was just a "frozen shoulder"...... a shot of cortisone and I was back in the water and the gym again!!! To me- it was impressive that some who gets PAID to do surgery - told me not to have surgery. I have also had two personal friends have a knee and shoulder surgery and they also had a great experience with Dr Skyhar.
We have gone to Dr. Skyhar many times with my husband and I both having rotator cuff surgeries, meniscus tear repair of the knee, plus Hyalgan injections of both knees. Dr. Skyhar is the best! He is a caring, knowledgeable, and excellent surgeon!
Dr. Skyhar is by far the best medical professional I've ever dealt with. He doesn't rush any visit, is always pleasant to talk to, and genuinely cares about his patients - while also telling you straight without sugar coating it. I had a bunch of problems with my shoulder, and had Dr. Skyhar go in and work his magic in March of 2019 and had great results. I wish he could be my Primary Care doctor, but will have to settle with having him as my Ortho provider. I'd have zero hesitation referring my loved ones to him. I recently had to change my insurance plan to one that he's not in network with, but still go to him and pay out of pocket because he's worth it. A+ rating.
Dr Skyhar has treated me for numerous things on this worn out body. I've had my two shoulders (rotator cuff)repaired so they are like new now. He repaired my torn meniscus on my right knee, never a problem since. I actually had Dt. Skyhar consult me to not do surgery a few times and try PT. He is not ooze to just operate if he thinks you can do without it. I highly recommend him for any knee or shoulder issues. Jeff Clave

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
