I have been sick a long as I remember . I have seen multiple rheumatologist over the years. I have been told that the pain is in my head, I am just being a drama queen and on. I finally was lucky to get an appointment with Dr McLean Dr McLean is compassionate, smart, she is not reluctant about diagnosing your symptoms . When I am visiting her office the staff is super friendly and patient. They are respectful and know that you are in pain. They listen to you and if there is anything that needs to be done , it gets done. I am humbled to be under Dr McLean care Her compassion and knowledge speaks volumes about her practice. Thank you Dr McLean .
I don’t even want to give one star, staff very rude, unprofessional, unresponsive and unhelpful. Oh yeah, good luck calling in and getting someone to answer ur call. Extremely disappointed with the visible lack of care shown by this group
I'm sitting in the car waiting for my Mom... it's been two hours since her appointment time. Still waiting. I'm in the car with two screaming kids because I had no idea it would take well over two hours for an injection! We stayed in the waiting room as long as I could contain them. The girls were nice enough to offer my son Something to color. Went outside and went on a walk around the parking lot and visited the memory-care place across the way. Had to strap them in their car seats because they're getting restless and need food! There were only two patients in the waiting room when we arrived. How is this taking so long! I know they need to let the medicine get to room temp before injecting but for Gods sake, you know who is coming in and what for so why not prepare for your patient and have it ready! My mom even called on our way down to try and have them get it ready but, no answer... I'm in the healthcare field and I would NEVER let my patients wait for more than 20 minutes. This is ridiculous!!!! I've tried calling the office to get an update and the answering machines says they're closed.. hmm how is that possible. My mom loves the doctor and so far the care has been good but, come on!!! Over 2 hours!!!! Still waiting...
Dr Kaplan is brilliant. Spent 2 hours with me & my husband explaining reactive arthritis to us. He treats the person, really listens to what you have to say. His bedside manner is exceptional. His office called my home the next day to check up on me. I am so fortunate to have found Dr Kaplan.
I am from Encinitas but living abroad right now. My arthritis doctor retired and I had to get into someone and in 1 ONE day. This office was AMAZING. From the desk staff to the nursing staff and especially to Dr Kaplan's Physician Assistant, Victoria Merrell. I can't say enough how these wonderful humans bent over backwards to get me in for treatment before I had to leave again. Victoria did my injections and the process and the result was much, much better than the last doctor I saw. High praises for this office all around. Thank you so very much. I have AS. I've seen numerous rhumMDs over the last 15 years due to insurance and location changes, yet I haven't found a better MD for this than Dr. Kaplan. Making another appt today, and paying out of pocket (yup, he is that good!).
I’ve seen Dr Kaplan for almost 8 years and have often recommended him to anyone looking for a good rhematologist. He really is a great doctor but he treats his staff horribly and has a high turnover rate of staff. His current office staff are rude, unprofessional, do not listen at all and have made it impossible to get the treatments and appointments I need. You can call for days and have no one answer or leave messages to never receive a reply. Because of this I’m looking for a new doctor.
Dr. Kaplan is an amazing doctor. He is caring and professional. He has helped care for me and my wife for years and is thoughtful, thorough, knowledgeable, and caring. He is a busy doctor for a reason and he is the best doctor I've ever had the pleasure of being a patient of.
Staff and front desk for Kaplan's Office are very rude and unprofessional. Took weeks for me to put together a medical package as requested, and even then they would not set an appointment for me. Save your time, energy and money on a rheumatologist who actually cares about treating you. I highly do not recommend this doctors office.
Dr. Kaplan is an intelligent, experienced and well educated specialist in rheumatology. He carefully listens to every word and because of his experience, he is able to form a plan to help the patient in very few visits. The value of a doctor who has seen and dealt with a large number of diseases is priceless. Thank you, Dr. Kaplan and staff.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
