List of Scripps Coastal Medical Center's Reviews
The pediatric group here is really great. We love Dr. Dern - she is calm, confident, thorough, and never rushed. We recently brought our baby in and she saw nurse practitioner Natalie. She is very friendly, knowledgeable, and has excellent bedside manner.
I have been going to this office for a while and never had problems. Today, I got in and they were having trouble with my insurance. I got married two years ago...I have sen this doctor before AND have had surgery while on the insurance. I was patient as they tried to fix the problem. I waited 45 minutes past my appointment time before going up to the counter. They said they had updated their systems and it messed everything up (while at least 8 people walked in and were seen no problem).I rescheduled my entire day around this appointment and I told her. She asked if I could be seen later today in Solana beach or on Monday...again, no, I just rescheduled my entire day, inconveniencing my clients as well. I waited two months for this appointment and now, because of something on their side, I can’t be seen. Freaking ridiculous
Dr Michael Hadley is a wonderful dr! He not only listens to medical concerns but diagnoses accurately If it wasnt for him i would continue to be walking around anemic and feeling aweful He knew to check my iron level and run other tests thank you Dr Hadley!
Dr. O'Leary is great! We met him in the hospital when our son was born and knew we wanted to switch to have him as our pediatrician. Dr. O'Leary spends time with his patients and doesn't act rushed. He makes both the child and parent feel comfortable. He's funny and great with kids. We've also seen Dr. Escuro a few times and she was great too.
Avoid Dr. Madeline Rodriguez at all cost. Had she listened to my nurse in the OR when she told her I smelled like infection and I needed IV antibiotics I wouldn't have had sepsis a 15cm opening at my c section sight and a wound vac for 3 months. Trash ass incompetent waste of space
These people are really rude. I work as an MA in a doctor's office. We called to get their fax number because their entire system is down at the moment and it's the only way for us to place lab orders. The lady rudely told me she could not find the Dr's name in their system at least 3 times (which did not matter, we just needed their fax number) and when I asked if that meant she couldn't give us the fax number, she rudely said "Yea I can.", gave the fax number without asking if I was ready to write it down and hang up on me while I was talking. I did not even have time to thank her or explain why I was asking the fax number. I don't understand why people are so rude over the phone. If you can't handle speaking to people, find another job especially when it comes to patient health and wellbeing.
Really disappointed in the phone service I received today. My daughter has been a patient there for 8 years and while I understand the cyber attack has caused a lot of issues, Evelyn was rude and hung up on me. I called 3 times today - wait times over 30 minutes each time. Finally stayed on the last time and was surprised that she said there was nothing I do for my daughter who was unwell. After being on hold for so long, I was surprised (and expressed my surprise) at how the recorded message didn’t say they weren’t taking any appointments. I’m the middle of my confusion about what to do for my daughter, she hung up on me. While in the whole scheme of things, this is insignificant, but it would have been nice to have just a tiny bit of customer service in this call.
I came to Scripps for a physical and wanted to get preventative blood work done. Because I am young and seem healthy, the doctor wouldn't order blood work for me. The point of blood work is to spot issues before they become a problem! Next time I will have to make up symptoms to get blood tests. Additionally she ordered other tests I didn't technically need which weren't covered by my insurance so I had to pay over $100 out of pocket. Would not recommend Scripps for routine physicals.
I had my second visit to Dr Michael Hadley today and it went great. Dr Hadley is kind thoughtful and most of all caring about his patients. He is an amazing doctor for primary care. He also sees children too. I have seen 2 others doctors but he is by far the one I want taking care of me because when I am there at his office I feel like he truly cares about me and isn't that what you want from your doctor. Thanks again Dr Hadley for a great experience.
Yesterday was my first visit to Dr Michael Hadley as my PCP at Encinitas.I was treated with respect, caring and thoughtfulness and gave me my visit instructions. Dr Hadley and his nurse Kristine listened to me and made me feel like family and that they truly cared about me. That matters to me.It was truly a great first experience and 10 star visit even though I can only give five stars. Thank you again Dr Hadley for your caring and thoughtfulness. You are truly a doctor who cares about his patients. Thank you again! Jim M

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
