My 84 year old father was admitted to Scripps Memorial Hospital Encinitas with what turned out to be a life ending condition. Dr Andre Sanschagrin, his personal physician of the past 9 years was with him until the end, treating him with the utmost respect, honesty, caring and dignity. All the staff associated with Scripps were wonderful. The attentive care Dad received in the Palliative Care Unit (Hospice) was second to none. They're angels. He was kept comfortable and pain-free until the end. All has my undying gratitude.
Been in the ER twice and never had to wait more than 15 mins to be seen. Everyone extremely helpful and nice.
Not long ago, I woke up and realized that I was having severe weakness and stroke-like symptoms. I knew I needed to go to the hospital immediately, and at the advice of my son and daughter-in-law (both of whom are physicians in the San Diego area), I chose to come to Scripps Encinitas. There I was seen by Dr. Andrew Accardi, who promptly initiated my workup and treatment, and began to stabilize my health. He also consulted on my case with the neurologist Dr. Gary Gualberto, as well as my cardiologist Dr. Patrick McGinty. After the excellent care that I received in the ER, I was admitted to the hospitalist service under the care of Dr. Kevin Smith and Dr. Eric Yuen, who continued to coordinate my care and ensure my recovery to discharge. This incredible team saved my life. As a physician myself, I can attest to the bedside manner, professionalism, and humanism of these physicians, and I will forever be grateful for their care.
I came to this ER from another hospital that was extremely full. I received immediate attention and my tests were done quickly and everyone explained everything as we went along for my treatment from a fall I took. Thank you for all the professionally gifted staff!
Absolutely amazing medical care. The doctors and staff are so competent and kind. I highly recommend this excellent hospital.
Great hospital. Clean. Being in our 80's, we've been to many of the local Scripps and this is by far our favorite. We've been to the ER many times and prefer it to all others in the area, including the La Jolla VA. We've always gotten right in without a wait and felt very informed to the progress and well taken care of medically. We've slowly switched all our providers to this location.
My wife and I had our baby here, and it was an excellent experience. It was our first kid, so I have no frame of reference. It's entirely possible that some of the following things are common, but I appreciated them nonetheless. We had pre-registered and called ahead to alert them that we'd be in sometime soon, so when we showed up just before midnight it was relatively simple. Keep in mind I'm dealing with a woman in labor, so every thing that I had to do was exponentially more difficult. They buzzed us in and we went to the nurse's station. We spent a few minutes there before being taken to our delivery room. Once there, our nurse Lydia joined us and didn't really leave for the next 7 hours. She was great; very knowledgeable and helpful, and she took charge in a helpful manner. After the delivery, our baby boy was healthy so he stayed with us for the entire rest of our stay. We were moved a few hours later to a different room where we both had beds, and our baby was in a bassinet between our beds. Over the next day, we were constantly checked on (in a non-annoying manner) and provided guidance for how to take care of ourselves and the new baby. It was really great, and we left the hospital feeling confident.Other random tip: They have a little room where dads-to-be can go to get food and drinks. It doesn't have an overwhelmingly excellent selection, but it gets you food and drink in the wee hours of the morning when you're delirious. Oh, and it's free.I'd say that we'll definitely come back, but that seems weird in this instance. But if we have another baby in San Diego, we'll likely come here again.
We brought our eight year old son to the emergency room with a mouth injury last Saturday night, and the experience could not have been better. We were served immediately, and our son was promptly examined to determine the extent of the injury. Within five minutes he was taken to a treatment room, and Dr. Andree soon arrived to do the stitches. He explained everything clearly. Our son was frightened and in pain, and Dr. Andree quickly calmed him down, did the anesthesia, and inserted the stitches with skill and compassion. We were given detailed written instructions on follow-up care. An outstanding team.

I was induced due to preclampsia. I was truly suffering. On top of extremely high blood pressure, dizziness, extreme swelling, I was sick with a gnarly case of bronchitis. Three days before I was induced I was hospitalized for my bronchitis alone, I used the same facility; out of both visits Dorothea is the shining star of the many nurses and even doctors on site. I can't express this enough.I was induced and had to wait, hooked up to machines and multiple tubes filled with antibiotics and blood pressure medication. The nurse I started out with made me feel sort of like a burden. She was nice, but it felt fake and the days leading up to this night felt like torture. I was an uncomfortable emotional wreck and couldn't breathe and on top of that was coughing and my blood pressure kept skyrocketing. I felt like I had to beg her to help me...fast forward to the next shift change, right before I delivered. As soon as Dorothea was assigned to me, she was beyond helpful, she instantly made it her priority to make me comfortable and help me feel confident to push through my ailments. She made me feel like she hadnt done this with many others before, like I was important to her and like my labor truly mattered to her. My labor progressed extremely fast after breaking my water. I went from 2 cm, to fully dialated, to pushing to giving birth to my incredible son, in less than an hour. She was there lifting me up, helping my fiance coach me, making me feel physically and mentally confident. I honestly don't think I could have done it without her! I truly felt she was an angel sent from the heavens. I was loopy, sleep deprived from over a week of coughing and then not sleeping one bit for a full 30 hours. Everything was such a blur but I remember telling my fiance with confidence that I thought she was an angel of course, he laughed at me. Dorothea stood out, she is truly magnificent, words can NOT express enough how thankful I am that she was there to work with me for the full 12 hours that she was on her shift. If I didn't work with her, I wouldn't have been able to get over the first nurse and my experience with scripps encinitas would have been mediocre at best. Thank you Dorothea, for the rest of my life, I will never forget you. You were a significant part of the most important day of my life. My son is my reason for my entire existence and I don't think of the day he was born without also thinking of you. Even with the drugs out of my system, 6 weeks later I still believe you are an angel on Earth, God knew what he was doing when he made you. Thank you for hiring her Scripps Encinitas!

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
