List of Aeron Wickes's Reviews
Okay, so I have to update my review and provide a better rating. After posting my first review, I did get a followup call from the Drs office after several days and they did provide my results to me, and sent them in to my insurance company as requested. I respect it when feedback is given and action is taken to address any shortcomings, so I increased my rating and want to thank Dr Wickes office for addressing my request.
I dont think I will come back after my second visit, not necessarily because of Dr Wickes but because of his front office staff. Some of what the other reviewers said I found to be true. I went to Dr. Wickes early in June for a physical. Ive had several other physicals with other doctors and I cant say he was any better or worse than anybody else, but he did not spend much time with me and asked me some lifestyle questions that didnt seem to have anything to do with my health. While there I requested the front office receptionist to please fill out a form with my biometric results from my blood draw and send it back to me so I could submit it to my insurance company. I asked her a few times while there to make sure she understood since her responses back to me did not give me confidence she would actually do it. As suspected, I never received my results as promised and I went back for a second visit for a followup with Dr Wickes to go over my blood results. After a short discussion with the doctor about my results and cholesterol levels he showed me out of the exam room and then went into his office and shut the door, which I thought was kind of weird. I then asked the receptionist what happened to the form I brought in the first time and could I have it back please. She said she could not find it and did not acknowledge any ownership for it or apologize for not doing what she said she would the first time. Since I did not want to make a special trip again and take time off work I asked her if I sent her another form via email to her so she could she print it out, fill it in with my results, and then send it back to me after the doctor signed it. Then she then said the office had no way to scan in a document (really ?) once filled in and signed so she could not do that. She showed absolutely no interest in helping me, and every question I gave her resulted in either a nonanswer or partial answer and it was really strange. It was clear she had no customer relations skills and just wanted me to go away, and took no responsibility for doing something that should have been very straightforward for a doctors office to handle on behalf of a patient. Very frustrating since when talking to her she just didnt seem to get it and was not even friendly about it. Too many other good doctors in San Diego to go to so no need to put up with that.
Dr was fine. It takes forever though. My appt was at 2:45 but they asked me to show up at 2:15 for paperwork. I showed up with my paperwork completed. Its almost 3 and they finally take me back. Then I wait another 15 minutes. I didnt get out of there until 4. I wouldnt usually mind if they were super busy but there was one person ahead of me and he got called back around 2:30. No one else was in the waiting room! Its just very bizarre how slow the doctor and the office staff moves...
Ive been visiting doctor Wickes for past 15 years, I think since 2001 and he is my primary physician. He has saved my life many times. He is by far one of the best doctor I ever had and he really cares about you and your health. He called personally many times to check on my health. How many doctors even have a chance to call you directly? I never know even one doctor all my life that will call you directory to make sure you are okay.
Had some pretty sever back pain a few weeks ago and the doc diagnosed me as having sciatica. No easy solution but he did give me some muscle relaxers to ease the pain. Some stretching, diet and exercise and I will be right as rain again. Thanks Dr Wickes!
Cant stand this place. They have many problems here. Firstly their phones stay off well after their lunch break which makes getting a hold of then difficult when your hours and lunch break is similar. Secondly the receptionist is clueless. She is so frustrating to ask questions or get info from. She appears to not listen at all. Shes very nice, but not helpful. Worst of all is dr wickes. His demeanor is rude and uncaring while you are there and he gives judge mental looks and eye rolls. He is very old school and opinionated.
Worst beside manner I have ever experienced! I switched doctors after just two visits with Dr. Wickes due to unprofessional care and cold demeanour.
Dr Wickes was recommend to us by my husbands HR person. Being new to SD, I had no idea how far id have to drive. I just needed a quick appt so I thought Id change PCP next time. Dr Wickes was worth the drive. Hes attentive and thorough. Hes like an old fashioned Dr which was refreshing. I have no plans to change.
This doctors office is the best office I have ever been to. I find Dr. Wickes to be extremely thorough and professional with great bedside manner! On two separate occasions I needed to get in to see him and was seen within a day of calling. Other doctors offices sometimes have voice automated answering systems before even putting you through to a real person along with long complex registering for a simple appointment. I was unofficially diagnosed with Cancer by another doctor. I then called Dr. Wickes office for a second opinion. Dr. Wickes truly cares about his patients and assisted in calming me down and educating me that I could have just enlarged glands or be sick. He assisted in reading my MRI scan which would have taken another week with the original doctor. Thinking you may have Cancer with a lump the size of an egg and not being told for two weeks can be very stressful. Dr. Wickes performed a physical exam and had a blood test taken immediately which the other doctor didnt even think of. I am so grateful for his thorough care. I also need to mention that his staff is very kind and caring. I feel like the care at this office is very personalized and customer service is beyond my expectations of a doctors office! I look forward to coming here in the future to handle my medical issues.
Ive been going to see Dr Wickes for over 10 years. Hes an excellent doctor. Hes diagnosed things that required surgery and many many tests for other things and has been correct every time hes been certain of what I had wrong. As we get older, its not always easy to know what exactly is wrong, and I can say that doctor Wickes has never given me an incorrect diagnoses when hes made up his mind regarding what is wrong. The receptionist Mary is very polite and kind and the nurses are always very competent. I will continue to go to Dr Wickes as my primary care physician.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
