Redwood Community Health Center's Online Review Report Card

Redwood health center is a good and efficient center. the appointments are a little backed up I assume due to Covid but when I came in for my appointment I was greeted fast with friendly and informative staff.The check in process was clean and Covid conscious and all employees were friendly and accommodating.

My wife and I have been going to redwood Community Center for about 16 years, starting with Dr. Hal Grotke  When he left his practice to Open Door Clinics, the service, professionalism and plain ol' caring about the patient went out the window.  My wife has been having right flank pains and Dr. May Hong has never touched her once since she was our doctor.  There is a "NO TOUCHING POLICY" according to the doctors.  She has seen Dr. May Hong for a lot of tests, but when the results come back in numbers or medical terms that I don't understand, you can't go in for a translation that will help you know what to do.  Several times I went in and was told "I won't tell you!" "Why?"  "I won't tell you!",  After several minutes of trying to get help for my suffering wife, the Site Manager came out to the reception window and interrupted.  I don't want to argue." " I don't want to argue!", over & over.  She was rude and impossible.  Her name is Debbie Lee, who I have renamed "Harriet Olsen" of Little House on the Prairie fame.May Hong & her cohorts have prescribed medicines that counteracted previous medicines, only to cause more problems.I was put on contract by both the Site Manage (Debbie Lee) and her favorite cohort (Christopher Blank) for causing troubles.  Because I have chosen to honor my Japanese wife's family name by taking hers,  I have been racially slandered by being called Danny Hirohito.  I've reported this and other incident to many agencies, including Health & Human Services, only to be told that the office had no evidence of this, even though I have and have copied all the original documents in my wife health folder for the agencies that I have contacted.  Still no luck.. If you are at an Open Door Clinic in Humbold County, you might want to think about your possibility of staying at Open Door Clinics.  They are useless and only exist on the backs of their patients who have insurance.  GOOD Luck!!!!!

I have been going to this clinic shortly after coming to Eureka in 1989. I saw Dr. Burleson before he retired and then I got Dr. Grotke.  Both of them were outstanding doctors but when Open Door took over upon the sale of the practice by Dr. Grotke, I have found Open Door Clinics to not be a very friendly or concerned group.  I suffer from a rare disease that needs a rheumatologist (specialist)  My spine has been deteriorating ever since 2012 when I went down to U,C. Davis to be thoroughly checked out.Give me Dr. Grotke anytime. I understand why he left and love him just the same.  Wish he could magically save me from the non-caring Open Door.I have a rare condition called D.I.S.H. and when I came back, no one knew what my new diagnosis was not Dr. G. nor the E.R doctors.  Open door made a hard and fast rule that a condition of being seen by them was to take me off my pain meds.  Dilaudid and Morphine.  I am on the lowest titration of the final med and my pain is totally unbearable.  Open Door refuses to address the pain issues and have not until today referred me to a pain specialist.  Doctor Hong said: "Everytime I think about prescribing opioids for pain, I am reminded of one of my patients who used it to commit suicide and another who abused them too".  Wake up!  I am not someone else.  My pain levels are at 8 out of a possible 10 and still they refuse to treat the pain.  I feel sorry for Dr Grotke who I saw approximately 20 years has to see his work come to this.  I am leaving Open Door to go all the way on  an hour and a half drive by bus to see a competent caring doctor. Open Door needs to review its iron clad policy and be humanitarian. I have signed grievances with Medicare and Medi-Cal and they are not happy with Open Door either.  I asked how soon I could be seen and was told not until February.  Who can wait that long if they have any kind of serious condition at all.  I would give them zero stars if it were available.

I've been a patient at this office for 15 years or so. Its gone down hill ever since Maryanne Gilbert left. For a little while I saw NP Meyers, unfortunately she isn't there anymore either. I liked her. Last time I was there I saw Ladika. Very unpleasant experience. She barely looked at my lab work. Walked out of the room saying I needed sunshine and counseling. Luckily I got copies of my lab work and took them to a Dr out of the area. Low DHEA, low T3, low vitamin D, low everything but my cholesterol! Positive ANA! With all that information plus major fatigue for over a year in half; she completely dismissed me. I cannot express enough how inadequate that visit was. Luckily I found a Dr with enough tact and time in Ukiah. Looking for a competent  local physician still....

5 years ago, I went in to see Grotke for a pregnancy test. I gave urine, he said I was going thru menopause..I was actually pregnant. He never looked at the test. My husband has chronic lower back pain and asked Latika for an MRI. She said no, then when he pushed for her to do it, she ordered an MRI for his UPPER back instead. Last week, I went in to see her to schedule a mammogram..she didnt request the order correctly! This place is an absolute wreck. I had a NP yell in my face and slam the door on me... I would never recommend anyone go to this clinic. Its failing in many more ways than I have listed.

I sow dr groke and was treted porly and treted as a hipercondreact. He tested me for porphyria and toled my that it cam back nagetive. Sins then i have seen a now doctors and have tested positive 5 x now for phorphyria. I would not recomend dr groke to my werst enemy for eny tipe of tretment by him. And if eny one nowes about porphyria it is extremely painful. And afects the nervis sistem and the man even left my without a neuraleptic for sezuers and convolshens. I gust wish i could give him a negative star as a revew.

I have been seeing Dr. Ladika and find her to be a very caring doctor. She reviews my file each and every time i come in. I never have to wait, when they say I have a 2:00 appointment  that is when I am seen. I never feel like I am being rushed through my visit. I feel very lucky to have found her as my doctor after mine left town.

Simply put, I went in with a common cold as my place of work demanded a doctors note if I wanted to call in sick.I go in with a common cold, which takes 7-10 days to get over.  How does the doctor treat me?  "Uh-huh, so you have a 'cold' then...  Well you don't have a fever [even though you're at 99.2 at the moment and you normally have a below-average temperature] so I'm writing you off for 'acute respiratory infection' so when are you supposed to go back to work?"I'm supposed to go back Tuesday [3/8], but won't be over this cold until next Sunday [3/13]."Uh-huh, here's your doctors note..."REDWOOD FAMILY PRACTICE[name withheld] IS TO BE EXCUSED FROM WORK UNTIL MARCH 8th 2016 DUE TO ACUTE RESPIRATORY INFECTION"And if you have a headache just take some Tylenol"[Note: I'm allergic to Penicillin, Iodine, and Acetaminophen...  The last one being the lead ingredient in Tylenol...]The nurses were great, if this place gets shut down for malpractice I feel the nurses should be the first people to get higher paying jobs, but I digress.

I was shocked when I saw all the one-star ratings!  I have been a patient there for several years and Dr. Ladika is my doctor.  They are prompt, efficient, and totally digitalized.  Dr. Ladika is an athlete and a model of good health.  She has always provided me with good medical care.

I would not rekemen this clinic to end one I was seeing doktor grotke I went there for about a year told him ever time I have severe. Apparently he was not listening to me Becus he told me after about a year that he didn't now I had them. Aperintle my words when on death ears. So I had an egg dune and he took me off my anty convulsive medisen. Then he told me he didn't now anuf about sezers to prescribe me everything so I was left with no medicashen for sezers and pain medisen. And he cept prescribing me medicine I am allergic to. Plus I would smock weed in morning to stop vomiting ensted of having to tack an ingektiun. Becus I have a fobeu of needles. And I was told Becus of that  he will not Preston me tram I'd all  until I can test clan for over a year. And if I smock weed and in his mind I am a bad person then then so be it. When you can't eat or drank plus vomiting for days you will do what you have to to hold down water and food.
