Dr Chow has a wonderful bedside manner and always checks in with my mental health and well as my physical health, which as someone with chronic pain is greatly appreciated. The surgery he performed on me went really well and I can now live my life to a better and a lot more pain free extent. For that I am grateful.

I am 35 years old. I have had endometriosis removed 6 times since the age of 18, and also suffer vulvodynia vestibulitis (a type of painful sex). Before finding Dr Chow years ago I had seen 8 other gynaecologists and had been grossly incorrectly diagnosed by each and every one of them. From “it must be thrush” to “it’s muscular” (it wasn’t) to “you’re just too tense”. When I found Dr Chow it changed my life. He is brilliant in every field. Yes he takes on too much, but that’s how in demand he is and he doesn’t want to turn people in need away. He has since been my obstetrician. And I will never change doctors.

I have found Dr Chow an absolute dream. He offered support and got me an appointment for surgery very quickly considering it is a Public Hospital. In between when I first saw him and the surgery, I have a teleconsult with one of his colleagues who consulted with Dr Chow during my consultation. He was well mannered and explained things to me. He listened and validated my pain issues. He also took into consideration my fears and anxiety over surgery and offered reassurance. Surgery was a success and I am now pain free. After many years of pain I am so grateful my GP referred me to Randwick Womans Hospital and I got an excellent surgeon who eliminated all my pain. If I have any issues in the future Dr Chow will be my go to Specialist as he has shown me respect and given my dignity back. I can't thank him enough.

Dr Jason Chow performed an operation on me that did not turn out well. A second gynaecologist I consulted said to me that his operation was a failure. Obviously I wish I had gone to another gynaecologist for the procedure. That being said Dr Chows patient manner was excellent. My issue is with his competency in performing my operation. When he is prescribing drugs afterwards to try and turn the situation around he needs to take more time to explain the drugs eg the benefits and side-effects as other patients have noted. I wouldn’t go to him or recommend him to others given how my operation turned out.

I have been a patient with Dr Chow for 5 months. I have endometriosis and very severe and ongoing chronic abdominal pain. I have been really disappointed in the treatment I have received. While I believe he is knowledgeable in his field, as a patient I felt that he completely underestimated the severity of my pain, gave me little hope for any improvement. He continually stated that improving chronic pain is a “long process” but never explained to me what the process would entail, leaving me with no hope for improvement. He has put me on many different medications without explaining their uses and when I have come back to him after experiencing terrible side effects he showed little compassion or empathy. The appointments have felt extremely rushed, and I think he has taken on too many patients/too much work, every appointment has been delayed by at least half an hour which I understand due to medical emergencies and the unpredictability of child birth patients, but I believe if he took on less this would be less of an issue. Another one of my main grievances is that he never asked how I was going at the start of each appointment, or really ask many open ended questions at all, this did not give me a chance to discuss new symptoms I have been experiencing or explain how terrible the pain has been. In other words, he is not easy to talk to. He also did not liaise with my other specialists or ‘go the extra mile’ to help me which I think is essential when dealing with women experiencing chronic pain, and one of the reasons women’s health issues continue to go undiagnosed for years and their pain dismissed. I would not recommend Dr Chow for chronic pain management because I believe he has done little to advocate for me, is unsympathetic and has underestimated my pain experience. As a younger patient, I felt he was overly concerned with my fertility when my pain was my only concern. If you require a surgery or an obstetrician I believe he would better in these areas, but overall I have been unhappy with my treatment here and feel I have been treated as a set of body parts rather than a person.

Have been seeing Dr Chow for 12 months for pelvic pain. I can't say I've had a good experience as I've found him to be unsympathetic, unfriendly and his treatment plan not ideal. I don't feel he has a great bedside manner and all appointments have felt rushed. I wouldn't recommend him.

I recently had some surgery with Dr Chow. I found him very good, great post operative care with visits and phone calls after I went home. I can't fault any dealings with him.

Found his bedside manner unprofessional. Patient shaming. Treatment did not go to plan & he puts you on medication your not comfortable with. Quick temper with staff + patients. I will not pay to have surgery with him.

I had level 4 Endometriosis excision and ablation with ovarian cysts removal procedures with Dr Chow. I didn't know anything about my condition or what it meant. So, I was very thankful about getting a specialist to do the surgery I needed. Dr Chow seemed very knowledgeable and experienced with many people trying to get a booking with him. He is not a charming person, but I wasn't looking to date him, so I didn't care about that. His care for me after surgery was great and I could not be more thankful for it. However, after 2 years of my surgery, I'm suffering with the results. The ovary with the bigger cyst was cleaned properly, so is now working. The ovary with the smaller cyst was not done properly and the cyst exploded, this one is not working anymore. He did ablation in the endo that was on my rectum, instead of taking it out, of course my bowels have never worked properly. I think as he is a young promising surgeon, he played it safe by doing the ablation instead of making a mistake and cutting my bowel. I would have rather used a colostomy bag for a couple of months and be completely recovered, than what I've been suffering for years. And with my ovaries, now I don't even know if I'll be able to get pregnant ever, as the only ovary working is not accessible for egg retrieval due to the endo coming back and it beign stuck in a weird way. I might need a new surgery, but I'll do more research this time to get a more experienced doctor. For less complex cases he probably is a good option. But, for complex ones like mine I would not recommend him. By the way, he told me to do IVF right after my surgery because my tubes were blocked. I asked him if they could not be unblocked, he responded it was impossible as he tried during the surgery. I went to RPA Radiology with Dr Waugh for a XA procedure. The procedure was succesfully performed by one of his students and my tubes were unblocked with an ultrasound procedure, going home the same day.

Dr Chow is Amazing. I'm a cronic pain suffer and Dr Chow's treatment has been outstanding! His bedside manner cannot be faulted and he is extremely knowledgeable in women's pelvic pain. I highly recommend Dr Chow especially for women with chronic pelvic pain that are not getting answers with their current medical care.
