List of Ka Tam's Reviews
Dr. Tam is MIA! I had my followup lab work as requested by Dr. Tam completed 3 weeks ago. As soon as I received the results, I emailed him because I needed refills on my prescriptions. I havent heard back from him or the office. Same thing happened to my husband. This is not acceptable. We have decided to switch primary care physicians due to Dr. Tams abandonment of our healthcare.
I am having worst experience with Dr. Tam and his office staff.I am suffering from migraine headache and his office staff said I have to wait until I have appoint to speak to him. I said can you at least send a message to Dr. Tam or Dr. Howard. His office staff girl said they are very busy completely booked. What kind of Dr.s office does this. Who is she to make the decision?I cant wait to go back to Kaiser. My Dr. responded to emails immediately and took care of me. This is my second time calling his office previous time also he never responded to emails or calls.
I just had my first visit with Dr. Tam and so far so good! My only issue is the front desk ladies are not the friendliest, considering they are front desk people. I initially tried to see Dr. Tam when I rolled my ankle considering they are an urgent care, they didnt care too much about my ankle. Not sure how this works. I eventually made an appointment to just do a yearly physical. I schedule an 11am appointment and arrive around 10:45am. Upon checking in the front desk ladies verified my ID, insurance and if I had to correct paperwork. I sat there for roughly 10 minutes and was taken back by the MA. She did the weight, height and my vitals. My only thing is she didnt really explain what she was doing, rather she just did her thing. Working in the medical field I knew the protocol, but it wouldve been nice to have been informed what they are doing especially for someone who doesnt know. I was then placed in a room and waited for the doctor.Dr. Tam did arrive in the room a little after 11:15am. Considering MDs are notoriously late, I thought this was pretty dang good. He brings in a laptop and thats where he takes all his notes. I informed him that I switched insurances and wanted to meet my new PCP and get some labs done. I then gave a in depth medical history and he noted them all and then he eventually did the normal physical. Dr. Tam was funny yet professional and was easy to speak with. He answered all my questions thoroughly and honestly this was a really good experience. He informed me that I could get my labs done down the hall at Quest Diagnostics and that my prescriptions would be sent to the location I desired. He wanted to schedule a follow up appointment post lab results to go over everything. While I think this could be done via email, its nice that he would like to go over it; I am not opposed to making this appointment. All in all I had a great experience with Dr. Tam. I am hoping this continues because I would like for him to be my PCP for the long term.
Good experience with Dr. Tam. I cant say I saw any of the issues that other patients mentioned. (Yes, he was 15 minutes late to my most recent appointment, but thats just a doctors office a late patient early in the day can screw up everyone elses appointment.) Good manner, didnt talk down to me as some doctors do and was willing to explain medical concepts. Quick and efficient, while making sure to leave time for any questions or problems I wanted to voice.A nice bonus is that the office is right down the hall from Quest Diagnostics if you need lab tests done at the same time.Only complaint was that the front desk didnt schedule me correctly the first time and I had to come back for an additional travel consultation. Not a big deal, though, and Ill be clearer in the future.
The worst doctor ever. He and his office do not give a damn about you They are trying to kill my 85 y/o father. He is a cardiac patient who has been taking specific medication for years. This doctor knows that and has his history. They are not refilling his High blood pressure meds. One of the most important. My dad has seen him 6 times for follow ups in the past 68 months. But they ask that my dad to email them his blood pressure readings, even though theyve taken them themselves. Normally a doctor will provide refills of such important meds while awaiting other tests if necessary, and not act as incompetent as Dr. Tam Ka Wai. In all the years of receiving care for his heart, no doctor or office has ever done this. Its derelict in duty and bordering on Malpractice! I will report this doc to Medicare and every agency out there. My dads other two doctors are upset with this doctor. So even his colleagues believe he is incompetent.
disappointed with the experience
Very friendly and knowledgeable! Great communication for patients to understand what is going on. Strongly recommend it.
Ive seen Dr. Wai a few times. His staff always gets me in within the same day or the next for last minute appointments. Hes always so nice, pleasant and professional. Appointments are always on time. Staff is always nice.
One of the worst doctors as he doesnt care about his patients. Ive been trying to email him for over a month now regarding my medication and no answer back. Ive decided to change my PCP as this guy is terrible. I would give him no stars if I could. Ignoring your patients isnt something a doctor shouldnt do. Ive asked him several times about different health test but I think if he doesnt collect his $40 deductible, he wont answer you. He even once asked me to write him a yelp review...well here it is.. you suck!
If you want a doctor that respect your appointment then dont go here. The last 4 visits to see Dr. Tam he has been late on average by 20 mins. As a patience I always respect their time and is punctual. It would be nice if the doctor can respect his patience the same way. I finally gave up after the last visiting while waiting for 20 mins and walked out. Another negative is he tries to sell you on the idea to used a pharmacy delivery service to which I know he gets a kickback. I understand you should bring it up to each patience once but not more than once. Thats being pushy.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
