Awesome doctor. Been going to him for years. Super friendly. No issues. Highly recommend. 5*
Since the age for colonoscopy was changed from 50 to 45 I've been dreading it. When I turned 45 I was dreading it. Then I turned 46 and figured I better get it over with. I was having some issues I won't get into plus family history that made me finally face the music. I'm writing this review to let you know if you're the age for a colonoscopy or soon to be the age, DO NOT STRESS OVER THIS!!!!!! THERE IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT! From start to finish it was simple and honestly no big deal. I have a PPO and can go anywhere I want but my doctor referred me to Dr. Duke Nguyen since he's located in the same Memorial Care center he is. Figured easy enough. The staff at Orange County Digestive Care (located 3rd floor Memorial Care Building) was super friendly and always answered the phone quickly so I'd go back and recommend them. I made my appointment and they got me in the day after Xmas for my initial appointment which was a few days after I called. I met with Kimberly A. Pinckney, PA-C. She was so friendly I didn't hesitate to answer all the embarrassing questions about pooping habits. After talking about issues and answering questions I met with another lady who scheduled me for 3/7/24 and went over the prep. Initially I was happy it was 3 months to wait but I stressed really bad for 3 months. Again, DO NOT STRESS LIKE I DID! DO NOT STRESS! Fast forward 3 months. Week of your appointment I highly recommend eating low fiber foods and easy to digest bland foods. Stay away from beef, raw veggies, seeds, nuts, and high fiber stuff. Day before the appointment all you can have is clear liquid. I was surprised I didn't get hungry at all but I think my low calorie week of bland foods helped prepare my stomach. I also drank tons of water all day. Luckily my insurance paid for the split dose "suprep" which is two liquid 6 ounce bottles you mix with 16 ounces of water. 6pm night before my adventure started. My wife told me how horrible the prep tastes but I thought it tasted sort of like Tamarindo candy. Salty, sour, and sweet so I kind of liked it. I drank down the mixture followed by 32 ounces of water as instructed. 1.5 hours went by and I was questioning if my dosage was defective. Then for the next 3 to 4 hours my body turned into a what I can only describe as a fecal water cannon. What came out of me defied logic. The good thing is there's zero stomach aches or urgency. I assumed it was going to be like food poisoning but your body is just filling up with water and blasting your pipes clean. I had no issues getting to the bathroom, no running needed. Also you get breaks between visits so it's not non stop. I highly recommend you have wet wipes since you'll be wiping A LOT and cleaning supplies because you will utterly obliterate your toilet bowl. Next morning at 4am was round two. I didn't enjoy the flavor this time since I knew what was in store. Round two kicked in about 15 minutes. Since there was not much left it was just endless water blasting until I was sparkling clean. So yea..... going to the bathroom over and over and over gets tiring but just know you're not going to feel sick or anything. You're just going to be turned into a human water cannon and if you're like me texting jokes to your friends about it. They also time it and cut off your drinking time so you'll be fine when it's time to leave for your appointment. Day of the procedure WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. Every single employee at Memorial Care were so friendly I was at ease the whole time and honestly ready to get it over with. I arrived, put on my bare assed gown, and got into bed. I've never had an IV before so was worried about that but it felt no different than getting my blood drawn so that was another example of stressing for nothing. Dr. Nguyen quickly went over what's going to happen, anesthesiologist gave his speech, and I was wheeled into the room. Literally it went like this: Propofol which looks like milk was injected into the tube going to my IV and the guy said "This might feel cold". I watched it hit my hand and I said "I don't feel anything.....". Next thing I know I hear "are you awake?" which I reply to "huh?". Then I'm told I'm done. It's over. It's like a light switch was flipped off and on and it was over. Crazy stuff. Dr. Nguyen then let me know he took out one polyp and the issue I went in for was nothing to worry about. Even got color photos of my innards to look at. Two weeks later I was told my polyp was not cancerous but because of the size of it I'll have to return in 5 years. Good thing is I know not to stress over it. This was easy. Get it done. You have nothing to worry about. I convinced my co-worker who was 5 years past due and he had his last week. He said it was easy too and we traded humorous toilet stories. GET YOUR COLONSCOPY DONE! DO NOT STRESS ABOUT IT! DO NOT WORRY ABOUT IT! IT'S AN EASY EXPERIENCE!
Wonderful! And got me very quickly, which was a big surprise. I'm feeling great due to his care and suggestions.
Very good cancer oncologists told me that Dr. Nguyen does a much more complete colonoscopy then 90% of other doctors due to his skill level. This saved my life as he found an early stage cancerous tumor in a location rarely visited by other doctors when they do a colonoscopy due to its difficulty. He also takes pictures inside the colon during the procedure, so if you have a future tumor, oncologists can compare before and after pictures from various years. Very valuable for proper diagnosis.
It might be true that only unhappy patients write reviews, but I had a really good experience with Dr. Duke Nguyen. He went above and beyond to help his patients. He would personally call your PCP and other specialists to discuss about your condition and get you the earliest appointment possible with the specialists. I highly recommend Dr. Duke Nguyen to anybody.
I found Dr. Duke Nugyn to be very thorough He is very knowledgeable. He explains everything. I had a endoscopy and a colonoscopy. He took the time to find things , other doctors might have missed. He documents everything. I am very pleased and on the road to recovery.
Dr Nguyen was my Gi doctor in 2006 when he was practicing in Roseburg Oregon. He had worked on me before 2006, when I contracted cholangitis following a gall bladder removal. When he saw that I needed more care than he could provide, he referred me to a gi dr. in Eugene Oregon who eventually sent me to Virginia Mason hospital in Seattle. He was a doctor who was compassionate and sincerely interested in me as a person.
This doctor is very personable and professional. He gave me expert solutions and advice for my health concerns and issues.
Took my 19 year old daughter to see Dr. Nguyen and we were very pleased. Yes, the wait was a bit long but, when don't you wait a an office appointment. Not once did Dr. Nguyen try to up sale us on services, products, or procedures. I would highly recommend Dr. Nguyen.
Went well Not sure why there are so many haters on here? His staff seemed fine and provided good instructions, prep and next day tele-meeting follow-up. I only met Dr. Nguyen himself a few minutes before going under for my colonoscopy but he explained everything, asked for my consent, and answered any and all questions I had. You eventually have to go for a colonoscopy so you should use him!

All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process.
