I would give them negative 5 stars if I could. My 2 years old broke out in hives all over his body at 10:30pm at night. Given that his pediatrician office was closed and the urgent care close to us was also closed, we had no choice but to take him to their ER. We had to wait over 2 hours for him to even be seen. Then the nurse practitioner saw us for 5 minutes, didn't even look at him or check his hives and just said he had some allergy then prescribed Benadryl. Then we had to wait over an hour for a nurse to give him 5 ml of Benadryl. Guess how much our bills came out to be? Almost $3,000 with insurance. I'm just baffled at the cost for 5 minute visit and 5ml of Benadryl. Never again!
Is unfortunate that a hospital cares so little for its patients. Doctors didn't even bother to go over results and nurses just walked in to teach student nurses how to set up for vitals. The bed was filthy it was covered in blood. I will not recommend anyone to go here if possible.
No one answers phones. Staff very over worked and understaffed. Dr's are overwhelmed, shifts too long and errors being made. The people in charge of this hospital are only in it for money. No nurse should have to change beds and do aid work being given so much to take care of. My father here several time's and he never wanted to go back.
Wow. Did I ever underestimate this hospital. My close friend recently had a Cath procedure and triple bypass surgery. After some less than ideal experiences at other local ERs, at last we were assigned to Dr. Harpreet Singh for Cardiology. He immediately recognized the severity of my friend's condition and got us scheduled for the next opening at the Cath Lab. Every instinct Dr. Singh had played out, he quickly recognized the blockages and called in Dr. Abraham to schedule open heart bypass surgery. From registration to outpatient Cath lab nurses, floor nurses, ER Nurses, ICU nurses (Special shoutout to Luds, Adrian and Annie who had us several days in a row and who have gone above and beyond), respiratory therapists, radiologists (esp David), Physical Therapists, Intensivists (Dr. Abadian!), everyone has been so thorough, attentive, kind, patient, quick, intelligent and caring, it has absolutely taken me aback. When a complication arose that required a return to the hospital we were both very relieved to return to such a great team. We were also really impressed by the 1-1 patient/nurse ratio in.the first couple days after surgery. Felt so secure, and so happy that there was never hesitation to respond to needs, and the nurses were SO knowledgeable. I spend a lot of hours as a patient advocate in many hospitals with many people. I've been in the ER (at fancier hospitals with newer buidlings) with this particular friend at least 5 times. I have never been impressed like this. If you'd like the minor cons: The patient meals leave a lot to be desired, and the cafeteria snacks and drinks are way overpriced. (But they do have free coffee and hot tea). There are no real waiting rooms for family during surgeries, so you wait in the Cafeteria or main lobby. I was anxious that I'd miss a call, and that I'd not get a chance to talk to the surgeon, but qll was well, and he went out of his way to update me. There is a tiny waiting area with maybe 9 very closely placed chairs just outside of ICU, but it's not a comfortable hanging spot The surgical ICU beds are in an open bay which means there are just curtains between patients. This is great for making sure nurses can collaborate and easily get help to their patients, but does mean those first couple days after surgery you are hearing a lot of different alarms, and it can get loud. The bedside chairs in ER and ICU do not recline, and are terrible to sleep in. Maybe that's to encourage family to go home so patients can sleep, but, um, ow. I genuinely hope to never need to return to a surgical cardiac ICU unit again, but this would 100% be the one I would choose if I had to.
Patient was a homeless person and suffered irreversible brain damage due to medical care and prehospital care and has been a victim since they diagnosed the first time in 2021. Bile and blood infection and a bad doctor. Then this happened. I will never forget that I was not there with the patient when he died. Why? Because he was not and never had been an organ donor but why he was in the hospital alone is because of his status on the taxpayers community and he was not there by accident. When someone dies in route or after arrival to the hospital and no one is with him what is the hospital responsibility? Aren't they supposed to have a medical professional approach family once the hospital knows the patient has family. I was not there with him because they have been dishonest from the ambulance transport to the hospital from the moment I hadn't been able to get on ambulance and they told me the wrong hospital and records show they knew that they were taking him to fountain valley hospital from the beginning before I was told that they had no clue how much it would have prevented if they had told me about his situation. He was not on life support for his life to be saved but they did that for the harvest. They didn't say anything about that but I knew that something was not good after I arrived almost 3 hours after he was already gone before I got there. Irreversible brain damage and all this sedation drugs and they don't know what to do now as I walked in the room with questions about his situation. What about the state of the patient? He was not cared for, he was about to have his organs harvested but they no family present means they can do whatever they want. Tell everyone that they must have someone with the patient or something like this is going to happen. I lost the love of my life and ever since I have been treated like a person that didn't deserve the truth. This is what they are doing behind our backs to the most vulnerable. Now I have to live with the pain and the traumatic experience the hospital has caused me to go through is not right.
I've emailed "Jade" back and got no response. It's been days. Just beware that Fountain Valley does not care about doing anything to help resolve these matters. Take it upon yourself to file a claim if you are ever in the same situation as me.
Entering Fountain Valley Hospital is an experience that borders on traumatic, as it feels more like stepping into a disheartening relic of a bygone era than a vibrant, caring healthcare institution. This facility, which should be a sanctuary of healing, is instead an unfortunate reminder of how drastically healthcare can fail its core objectives. Firstly, the physical infrastructure of the hospital is, quite bluntly, deplorable. The tired, faded paint echoes a time long past, bearing an uncanny resemblance to the era of Christopher Columbus rather than the present day. Walking through the hallways feels like traversing a gloomy labyrinth, as the lack of natural light cloaks the facility in a perpetual state of dreariness, evoking an image of a prison rather than a hospital. The building's condition is further worsened by the apparent lack of maintenance. Corridors echo with a cold sterility that reflects a lack of investment in creating a welcoming environment. You can't help but question how a health facility, which should champion sanitation and hygiene, could allow such a dreary atmosphere to pervade. The hospital's nursing staff operate at a pace that is strikingly negligent. Their rounds are conducted with an agonizing slowness that reflects a lack of urgency and concern. The standard protocol of checking up on patients every 15 minutes is seemingly discarded, with intervals sometimes stretching to over an hour. This could potentially risk patients' health, as urgent needs may go unnoticed. The technological aspect of Fountain Valley Hospital is equally disappointing. The medical devices in use appear to be relics from a time when medical technology was not as advanced as it is today. In an era where healthcare is increasingly reliant on cutting-edge technology, Fountain Valley's outdated equipment paints a picture of a hospital that's far removed from contemporary practices. It's a grim reminder of the hospital's unwillingness or inability to keep pace with medical advancements. The issue of patient privacy is another black mark against this institution. Far too often, patients are unceremoniously crammed into shared rooms, their privacy barely maintained by the flimsy separation of a curtain. This blatant disregard for patient comfort contributes to an atmosphere of stress and anxiety rather than the tranquility necessary for recovery. Regarding the professional competence of the doctors and nurses at Fountain Valley Hospital, there's a pervasive sense of ineptitude. Frequently, they seem to stumble when attempting to diagnose patients' ailments, leading to repeated, inconclusive visits. This was the disheartening experience of my aunt, whose condition was left unresolved despite numerous visits. It casts a shadow of doubt over the effectiveness of their years of medical education and training. To add insult to injury, the food served at Fountain Valley Hospital is a culinary travesty. Despite the considerable fees levied on patients, the hospital fails to provide even the most basic quality of meals. The bland and uninspiring meals taste more like canned produce than freshly prepared food, a clear testament to the hospital's disregard for its patients' dietary experience. In conclusion, Fountain Valley Hospital is a health facility that falls woefully short of the mark. It's marked by a gloomy infrastructure, a nursing staff whose lack of urgency borders on negligence, outdated medical equipment, and a lack of respect for patient privacy. Moreover, the questionable competence of the medical staff, coupled with the poor quality of meals, only deepens the disappointment. I strongly advise potential patients to consider other, more patient-centric medical facilities that place a high priority on their health, comfort, and overall wellbeing. Until serious improvements are made, Fountain Valley Hospital remains a stark reminder of how not to run a healthcare institution.
This review is for the ICU nurse Kandy. This beautiful young woman was the best RN anyone could as for. She was able to fully and actively listen to the us and took time out of her chaotic shift (she was probably the only nurse I saw working the whole time and not laughing and having social hour at the station) but utilized her time to listen to our concerns, follow up on them, discuss the plan, explained every medication and procedure she was going to perform, and provided a great amount of empathy and emotional support. She was quick to know what was going on medically and even when the doctor rejected what she said of what was going on and her suggestion, she didn't stop insisting that she was almost certain of the condition. interestingly enough the very next day it was exactly what she had concluded. If they had listened to her knowledgeable conclusion and solution, it would have been 1 less day of letting her get sicker. What she did is what nurses are supposed to do...promote the health and well being of patients. Absolutely provided excellent care. Unfortunately she was not our nurse her next shift and we were disappointed, to say the least. But she still helped us with what she could since she wasn't her nurse. And after receiving bad news that we didn't really understand, we were all worried, anxious, confused, and crying. She comforted us, while our nurse was off laughing and chatting with other nurses, she even brought us some tissues, chairs, some water, and told us if we needed anything to let any of the staff know and that they all are here for us. To say the least Kandy is an exceptional and compassionate nurse. We thank her from the bottom of our hearts. She will not be forgotten for her hard work, intelligence, knowledge, skill, compassion, kindness, and genuine empathy.
The worst hospital ever!!! Do not go there for ANYTHING!!!! Back in December of 2022, I had an emergency c-section. Due to being in LITERAL LABOR, I was unable to give my insurance information. Now, it's been over 6 months and the hospital has failed to take my insurance information. I have called numerous times to give my insurance information to the hospital and for some reason they keep sending me a bill for $8,800 stating that I did not give them my insurance information. I have even called with my insurance company to give them my insurance info and to tell the hospital to file a claim. The business office is rude, unhelpful, and are always giving me the run-around. They haven't even been able to send me the proper itemized bill so I can file the claim myself. It is now past 180 days and I will have to potentially file an appeal with my insurance company to get them to still cover this bill. Incredibly unhelpful and unprofessional. Apart from dealing with this for months, my experience at the hospital was not so great either. The nurses literally made me cry after telling me that I had to feed my baby because "I wasn't feeding him enough" after we both had taken a 4 hour nap. Sorry for being exhausted from over 20 hours of labor and a c-section. (My baby was totally fine and just sleeping too). My husband told the nurses to not say that and the nurses blamed my crying on "postpartum depression." Overall, this experience has been completely horrible. They are unprofessional, rude, and unhelpful. Do not go there!!! Save yourself the headache.
worst hospital in the entire world, this is where you go to die!!!!! The nurses are hit and miss. The doctors are arrogant assholes. They will yell at you and hang up on you like Dr. Hilton did. they don't like you asking questions, you are supposed to blindly follow whatever they say, They took away my dad's sitter because the nurse decided we didn't need them any longer, when in all the 5 weeks we were there he had a sitter. They don't care about anyone, they just care about getting money from someone like my dad that has the best insurance, they were paying that crappy hospital $14,000 a day and we got treated like shit. They didn't respect my dad or listen to what we wanted to be done. They refused to let us transfer to Hoag our beautiful, wonderful, Hoag, full of professionals who know how to really treat patients. I hate, hate, hate, hate this fucking hospital, it needs to be destroyed.
