I got my lasik done by Dr James Cohn . He has very good experience on lasik treatments and explained clearly about the procedure. He is best.

I always get a excellent prescription. Most of my screen time is on my iPhone so getting a great prescription is a must.

I have great eye site for the first time in over 30 years thanks to Dr. Cohn and his staff. After being afraid for so long to get LASIK done, I finally decided to do it. He was one of the preferred doctors that my regular optometrist had recommended in the past, so I called in the middle of October and asked if they could see me for a consultation. Within a week I met Dr. Cohn and talked about the procedure. He had an opening less than two weeks out for LASIK so I took it. Procedure went very smooth as did the follow-up appointments and I can finally live without glasses for a while! Very happy with Dr. Cohn and his friendly staff. Important to know that while his office is in Fremont, the LASIK surgery center for the procedure is in San Jose near O'Connor Hospital. Other than the day of the procedure, though, all the appointments are at his Fremont office. Not a big deal but that may be helpful to some as you'll need someone to drive you to San Jose and back for the procedure.

An update: Dr. Cohn finally got back to me and explained the situation. He said one of his former staff was charging people (usually friends, family, or people she liked or wanted to help) the wrong fee for the exam. Apparently, they've always been charging $365, but because of this former staff person, I was charged less. Dr. Cohn has offered to send me the difference in fee since the discrepancy was an issue on their end, which I greatly appreciate. I have to give props to them for taking the time to explain the situation and offer the refund. Not all businesses will take the time to do that.

Do NOT go to this optometrist. They charged me $365 for just a standard eye exam. They didn't do anything special. I don't have optical insurance so I had to pay this out of pocket. This is almost twice as much as they charged me last year. Despite being a long time patient, I received no notification that their rate had increased this much. When I tried to get an explanation for why it had increased this much, no one could explain. They said none of the staff they currently have was working there a year ago when I was last there (a red flag btw). I tried talking to the optometrists there. Dr. Tran brushed me off and I couldn't reach Dr. Cohen at all. So unless you like paying twice as much as you should for mediocre service, avoid this place.

New patient, what I went in for satisfied me

Facts: They only do lasik the last thursday of every month. When I enrolled, they made me wait a month. They rescheduled my exam appts twice. They didn't tell me I would get dilated during the pre-op appt. When I asked about payment plans, they didn't know and told me they would call back. They didn't, so when I called back again they told me the exact same thing. I was not told when/where the surgery would take place until two days before the procedure, and they only told me after I asked about it. The morning of the procedure, I took the medication as prescribed, took time off of work, booked my uber to and from the surgery center, and it was only after I arrived that they told me that they're having issues so the procedure will have to be postponed. Unprofessional, unreliable, disorganized, disgraceful. Do not trust this clinic. Words cannot describe how livid I am after having been strung around by them for almost 2 months.

Dr. Cohn is professional, competent, and such a gentleman. I got my LASIK surgery done by him and he was so informative through the whole process. Would definitely recommend him if you are considering LASIK!

We had to go here for my son for his SSN evaluation and Dr Tran was the first to see my son and test him. I really thought she was very nice, observant and patient with my son which is a bonus in my book. It took awhile but I like that she was thorough. My son is special so she asked the right questions for him to answer her. We then saw Dr Cohn after and he was very friendly and direct with what he observed of my son and from Dr Trans evaluation and tests of my son. Place is easy to find. There is a private parking lot to park. His office is very busy so there was some waiting involved but I liked both doctors that saw my son and what I observed of how they treated my son and what the results were. It was easy to understood them. Only issue was the wait but other than that, I would recommend Dr Cohn and his assistants [26th R]

I have know Dr Cohn for years and he is such a gentleman , really admire him. But his staff is very incompetent. They booked my sons lens appointment after one month on Feb 21 and I drove all the way from Danville, ca , waited there for 45 minutes - kept calling , left VM not no body responded or called back and they never informed us after or before that appointment was cancelled. I called them back today - again they have no appointment , and I requested lady to give me appointment for April 4th wk as my son is off from school that wk - again she gave me the last appointment on April 8th. Instead of apologizing for their irrational and unprofessional behavior , she asked me to calm down. I will calm down if you inform patients about cancellations or have courtesy to call them back EVER and reschedule the appointment. For simple lens appointment we are running after them for months now and all we hear is they don't have appointment. If you cancelled appointments - have courtesy to call and adjust . Staff needs to be changed for trained in more professionalism .
