If i could give a -0 on Dr. Birnbaum I would. Hes very unprofessional, rude, overlooks a patients whole health history. I waited over an hour pass my appointment time to see this guy for the first time just to be told after speaking briefly to him maybe 5 mins to not speak no more so he could dictate into his recorder and as hes doing so he addresses me by the wrong name at the end on the recording. Then after he was done I was told Im fine and theres nothing wrong with me and no need to see me which in all honestly I would not go back to this guy if I was told to. I'd rather travel out of town to see a neurologist then ever have to deal with the unprofessionalism and rudeness that Burnbaum treats his patients with! You have been warned just look at all the negative reviews on him!
My mom had a visit with this neurologist and she was alone. He treated her absolutely horrible she came home in tears he told her she has dementia without any testing then said and their gonna pull your license from you as well! How do you diagnose someone like this with no compassion she said he wouldnt even make eye contact with her she then asked about the pain in her neck and he said your not here to talk about that.! My mom is 80 years old and was treated horrible.!
the office is so nice and i thought the doctor was too until my second visit. i was trying to ask questions about what i can do when my legs go numb and he literally walked out of the room and said there’s nothing wrong with me. no test, no bloodwork nothing. I went in today supposedly to have a test done. And left in tears feeling helpless because he wouldn’t help me at all.
Horrible doctor. Does not care about his patients. My second visit I left crying because he would not help me. Not even with advice. Nothing at all. He walked out while I was asking questions because I was so confused as to why he wouldn’t help or do any testing at all. I guess I’m just supposed to keep missing work when I can’t be on my feet because my legs and my arms are so numb.
I only went to this Dr because a neurosurgeon I saw referred me, and because other neurologists in town wouldnt see me without a referral, despite that I have PPO insurance, thanks to the lovely dr shortage here. It took 2 months after the referral for them to even call me to set up an appointment. I saw the bad reviews before going in but I like to give people the benefit of the doubt. This was a waste of time and money. Now Im going to need to get a new referral from my Primary Care Physician. He told me just by looking at me that I do not have carpal tunnel or cubital tunnel, despite the fact that Ive had nerve conduction studies by multiple neurologists in town who have diagnosed me with such, and Ive also seen multiple orthopedic surgeons who agree with the diagnosis. I came to see Dr. Birnbaum for different neurological symtpoms Ive been having and he was just refuting whats been established for many years without doing any testing, and thats not even what I was seeing him for, I was seeing him for neuropathy in my feet. He then told me my symptoms are from anxiety and started telling me that my mother, whom Ive havent had contact with since 2006 and I dont know if she has health conditions, has bipolar disorder, when he has never met her, and that I probably have bipolar too. I have no symptoms of bipolar or any other mental illness, and he, as a neurologist,is beyond his realm of what he can diagnose. On the medical information form it asked about health conditions siblings have and I put hypoglycemia and vericose veins, conditions they have been diagnosed with, and he asked what does that even mean, and was acting like they couldnt possibly have those conditions, when he hasnt met them. Save your time and money, and do NOT go to this doctor, he is EXTREMELY incompetent! He made the whole appointment last an hour, by repeating everything in his tape recorder. I really should have left after a half hour, but I was trying to be polite. If your dr refers you to this dr, BEG for a different referral! The original wait time they gave me to see him was a whopping 5 months, then they suddenly called me yesterday and asked could I come today. So if you do decide to try this dr, which I highly recommend against, you may have a ridiculous wait time to get in.
Worst service Ive ever experienced. I was suppose to receive a call from them months ago(referred by my doctor). So instead of waiting on them since they were taking forever I decided to call them last month. Yeah I got nowhere. Ive left several messages (you just get a voicemail to leave a message) you dont even talk to a real person. Eight weeks later I still havent heard from anyone despite calling every week regarding scheduling an appointment with Neurology regarding my meds. Dont waist your time. Worst service youll ever come across. They never call you back and dont seem to care about their patients. I wonder if they even have patients?
Yes he did dictate into his recorder in front us but I got to hear if he heard me. I found him exceptional. He wants to get me off meds that he feels I don't need. I am now taking one less pill for seizures. I have not had a seizure since and I am more awake and feel less drugged out all day. He heard my goal of a "better" quality of life" and not just managing my life.
I have had a referral from my insurance to see this doctor since August 2. It is now October 9 and in spite of several phone calls to this office I still have not gotten an appointment. The receptionist brushes me off and says we don't have your referral. I've called my doctors office and visited my doctor discussing this problem. They assured me many times that the referral has been faxed. I called again and the same lady brushes me off again saying they don't have the referral. She tried to hang up and I get frustrated and say you are just brushing me off and not trying to work anything out. Finally, she comes up with the brilliant realization that the fax could be going to the wrong phone number. Ding, ding, ding. If this could be a problem why didn't she ever mention it or make sure the correct number is being used? Ugh, I could go on and on but I am more than frustrated. The incompetence we are churning of our learning institutions is astounding.
Absolutely horrible
Most pathetic, ungrateful person in the business can’t even do his job.
He was bad , I can't write more are they will delete it
A below standards. You will find out
Such a awsome intelligent doctor, who really listens to the patient. We love Dr. Birnbaum & his staff.
This man came to see me in the hospital and I was mortified He is rude , weird , doesnt listen to you . Misdiagnosed me And I feel that he was careless as a physician. Do not let this man come near you . Go downtown to the Neuroscience group at Community . They are stellar physicians and know what they are doing . This man does not !
BEWARE !!!!!!! This Doctor is horrible !!! I will never let him touch me or even look at me ever again !!!! He doesnt listen to the patient , he can care less .His diagnosis was incorrect and made me feel crazy ! I recommend finding another neurologist if you even hear his name . I do not know how this man is even practicing medicine !!!!
He made me and my family feel comfortable. He was very respectful when it came to questions I asked and those of my wife.
Very knowledgable in his field. And breaks things down in laymans terms for all to understand.
Dr. Birnbaum will never touch me again. I have never been so rudely treated by a doctor. I was scheduled for a nerve conduction test , which I showed up for on time. When the doctor came in he barely spoke to me. He explained NOTHING to me concerning the test, and when it began he used settings so high I was crying. I have had this test performed before and it was no where near as painful. He stopped the test half way through, claiming he had enough information. He was getting ready to leave without saying a word to me, so I asked him what he found. He very reluctantly told me, then slammed the door in my face as I was putting chairs back into the room. I left the office in tears.
great doctor very straightforward
Excellent doctor. He is very informative and straight to the point. I always feel more informed on my condition when I leave his office. Always willing to answer questions in a way I can understand. Very straightforward.
