The doctor is either unaware of what recovery entails after a surgery or knew what I would experience and decided not to tell me. I had skin cancer removed from my calf. He told me before the surgery that I would be able to return to work the next day and would have no problems walking. After the surgery while in the post-op waiting room he once again told me that I can immediately start walking. A nurse stood by me as I stood up for the first time. Thank goodness the nurse was there because my knees buckled in pain and the nurse caught me. I had to use a walker for a week followed by a cane for 5 days. I got instant Charlie horses anytime I tried to put pressure on my leg. I told the doctor this in my one and only follow up. I was not rude when I told him about my lack of recovery. I wanted to educate him so that he could tell future patients who undergo the same surgery that they may not be able to walk right away and they may experience pain. But when I told him my experience his response was “well You do not have a cane today.” Please look up “valley surgical specialists” when looking up reviews. Another patient had a similar experience. Unfortunately I did not do enough research before my surgery.
Dr Ambe is an amazing Doctor. I was recommended by a co-worker from Visalia. Answered all of my questions and has a very pleasant personality. He is all about what is safe for the patient. His team is first class and very thorough. I left the surgery thanking everyone. I truly am grateful of him. I recommend him....you are definitely in good hands.
The doctor is either unaware of what recovery entails after a surgery or knew what I would experience and purposely kept me in the dark. I had skin cancer removed from my calf. He told me before the surgery that I would be able to walk afterwards and did not tell me any restrictions that I may face. After the surgery, while in the post-op room he once again told me I could immediately walk. That was not the case! I had to use a walker for a week. Followed by a cane for 5 days. It took 2 weeks for me to be able to drive. I told him about this in my follow up, hoping he would take the criticism so that future patients would not have the same horrible experience that I had. Instead he said "Well you don't have a cane with you." Please look up "Valley Surgical Specialists" when doing a google review before seeing this doctor. Another patient had a similar experience. Unfortunately I didn't do enough research before my surgery.
Dr. Ambe was my surgeon for a very complicated and dangerous surgery. He earned my respect and trust early on, did not disappoint. Not only was the surgery completely successful but I had essentially no pain or difficulty post surgery or during the entire recuperation process. I would recommend him for anybody.
Dr. Ambe brings back bedside manner. He's kind, understanding and explains well. He did what was best for me, not what would make him $$$.
Dr Ambe is an amazing doctor/surgeon! I highly recommend him!
Dr Ambe cared for my husband for two months while he was in the hospital. I would recommend him for any one that needed surgery. He is caring, kind, polite, and through. He explains things and incredibly nice.
I strongly recommend Dr. Ambe! I had to go to the ER due to my appendix, which Dr. Ambe ended up removing with no complications and very minimal "recovery pain" that lasted maybe a day or so. He also came to my room to release me at the time he said he would.
