This is absolutely a college setup to make money without having quality teachers. Many teachers dont even offer office hours on campus. You have to travel to another college campus. Student should choose majors carefully since many lead nowhere with little to no job prospects. I recommend avoiding this school.
There are a lot of negative reviews based on things that you will experience at any college. Yes, parking is hard. Is it more difficult than other schools? Probably. Is it a problem all colleges have? Absolutely.

CSUF is tucked into a suburban neighborhood, making expansion difficult. Our current President, however, truly cares about this campus and its students. Past presidents didn't care, so he has a lot of cleaning up to do, and he's done a lot in his first two years already.

I graduated with a BS in Biological Science. I had exceptional professors, who genuinely cared about their students. Friends who went to UCs hardly had contact with their professors in their 300+ person lectures. I have personal relationships with many of my professors, who were extremely understanding when personal issues came up.

I found plenty of programs to take part in. Another reason many reviews are negative is commuter students don't try to get involved. ASI offers a ton of events, there are over 200 student orgs, and you can fairly easily start your own club (I did).

Your college experience is what you put into it. If you try, CSUF will provide you a good education, helpful professors, opportunities for growth, and more. The only thing we lack is sports teams lol but our baseball and basketball teams are pretty good and the games are fun with friends!
There's a reason we go to CSUF... it's cheap, it's easy to get into and we didn't get into Long Beach. Let me tell you one thing, sweet person thinking about attending CSUF, RUNNNNNNNNN! Do you like complaining all day? You'll find yourself complaining not only about wasting $15 and 12 hours driving around looking for parking spots, oh no, but also complaining about everything CSUF lacks. We pay a ton of money in fees like parking passes (double and triple what other CSU's pay) AND we have NO PERKS. I'm not speaking in hyperbole when I say literally any other Cal State functions more efficiently (yes, I'm even willing to go on the record and state that CSU Dominguez Hills is 300% better than Fullerton). Enter at your own risk (seriously, there are no cameras and lots of murder).
Garbage waste of time university.
You get what you pay for in this latestagecapitalism country.
This is a degree factory & financial con.

CONS:
Very expensive and terrible parking you will have to fight for. 10,000 spots for 40,000 commuter students. Parking permit is $350/semester.
The good teachers will be poached away from CSUF by the UC schools on a regular basis, by being offered more money and better treatment (who can blame them). Then, the classes they were teaching will disappear and your whole program will get far worse.
Why study? It's basically impossible to fail unless you don't show up or can't pay. The education quality is so low that you will study hard for a difficult test, then the professor will hand it back out, having curved it 30 points and say everyone passed. You'll feel cheated and rightly so.
Want professors who have no idea what they're doing or what they're teaching? This is the place for you.
Rapes and stabbings are common.
Hardly any advisors. Been here 1.5 years and they still haven't evaluated my transcripts from my previous schools.
Want to be surrounded by small children being indoctrinated into believing that college is the only way forward? Look no further. Need Starbucks? Prepare to wait in line behind 20 elementary school kids.

PROS:
The facilities they take the tour groups through are really nice. That's where all your money goes, to advertise the school to make sure it keeps bringing in as many students as possible.
The business building is niceish. (It's the only nice one.)
I graduated from CSUF in 2016 with my degree in Philosophy. I feel like I received a world class education from here, no complaints about my undergrad.

My complaint is about CSUF's Teacher Education program. During their recruitment process they were not transparent about how the program worked. They only advertise enough to entice people to apply, but when you became a student, the rules on student teaching were ridiculous.

I enrolled in the Elementary program. I only wanted to teach specific grades. However, you must teach a grade both in upper and lower separated by at least 2 grade levels. They placed me in Irvine when I lived around the corner from CSU Fullerton. I had to drop anyways because my car broke down anyways.

But then I wanted to do the HS credential program. I went to an orientation and asked them if I could be a philosophy major and teach English. They said it was perfectly fine. I spent over a year paying and taking the prereqs, only to apply and get rejected because I was a nonEnglish major. Fortunately I got my money refunded but I spent a lot of time preparing for the program.

I could have gone to National University had it not been for my loyalty to CSUF. I recommend National to anyone in the area since it doesn't require a face to face commitment and to take off a year from work to do. CSUF Education Department is not transparent, they will loop you into a bullshit situation that you have little say in although you are paying your precious time and money for the program.
So many issues with this campus, I dont think I would be able to fit it into one page.
They will find any and every way to charge you on top of tuition. I am currently a Biology major and I have to pay for access codes to my homework. Parking is getting increasingly more expensive every year because they overenroll students for their own financial gain. You'll pay ~$300 for a ONE SEMESTER parking permit that will not be useful because there is never enough parking. This semester alone they over sold their permits by 250%. The staff are so overwhelmed with the amount of students they have that they see every student as a number in a desk. You'll pay for your overpriced books, homework codes, lab notebooks, and anything else they can think of. But where is tuition going? To the beautiful waterfalls and palm trees on campus of course! Dont be suprised when tuition increases with every new construction job on campus. The pavement being pretty is more important than education, I guess. Also, watch out for rapes and stabbings because they are common on this campus. With ~40k students enrolled, they havent compensated at all with their police force. Every man for himself here.
I have been going here for 3 years and I will be moving out of state to get away from this type of financial scam. I couldn't recommend a campus like this to anyone I care about, so I advise if you have any other option, go somewhere else.
Graduated 7 months ago with a degree in Finance. I was surprised that on my diploma it didn't say I minored in parking.

But on a serious note Please take advantage of school counselors/ therapists if you're feeling any form of self doubt and stress. Being overwhelmed is not fun especially in college. Make some time to visit the student health center or call the helpline. This helped me finish strong. They will talk to you about anything that is overwhelming you. I cannot stress this enough to my friends here and at other Universities and fellow titans.

Shout out goes to school therapist Shalom and Prof. Larry Howard.
Parking is such bull. Not enough spaces to even house this many students. Especially around 9:30 am!!
Two generations of CSUF Alumn, so we were excited for our daughter to represent the third generation. What a horrible experience for her and we completely regret sending her there. The campus clearly cannot support the number of enrolled students....from parking that is non existent (truly ridiculous), to very limited class availability, to departments that display a constant level of complete confusion with so many differing/conflicting answers....making the waters very difficult for anyone to navigate. You have made a system so very very very complex that no one seems to know how to run it...and this includes everything online. Truly...less is more! You need to streamline and simplify. We had an amazing experience with the recruiting program...but it all ended there. There is NOTHING inviting about this school and it truly falls short of what a college experience should be. CSUF continually posts about various awards and recognitions they have won....including highest enrollment...ugh..focus on taking care of your current enrolled students and mitigate the existing issues before you increase enrollment etc. Adding parking sounds great, BUT then accepting more students? Really? You aren't fixing the problem. Additional comment...financial assistance, recruiting, and department scholarships...would be nice to see that balanced out a bit more amongst csuf demographics...very noticeable that it is not. Now we know why so very few students from the local high schools actually go to CSUF...from parking, to lack of classes, to so much more being offered out of state.... as far as scholarships etc. Our kiddo will be transferring as soon as possible. Complete disappointment and an absolute waste of a school year. Truly a shame...we loved being Titans.
If you want to be a good nurse and be competent enough to work anywhere or attend any other university, do not go to cal state Fullerton nursing program. Faculty are horrible. They are just as bad as the students that attended. These days it's as if both public schools and private school in California are a hot mess. They are inconsiderate of students and not up to date with how nursing students should be safe in the field. They are horrible at filling students needs and feel as though the are the student. If you are a professor acting like a student then you need to get another job. Real students go to college to learn not to be ran around in circles. They also admit very immature individuals to their institution. It is absolutely disgusting. In some classes I felt as though I was in a classroom full of adolescents that were going through puberty. I am sure I am not the only person that feels this way. The faculty also did a lot of lying they should be ashamed. They bragged about being so good not realizing there is better out there and they are actually doing a horrible job.
I want to be clear that the idea of rating a state university on Yelp is honestly hilarious to me. I sincerely hope that prospective students are not checking Yelp before applying to a college. That being said, I cannot say that I would recommend CSUF in literally any way. The campus is pretty terrible it's very small and crowded, there is not enough parking given that it is traditionally a commuter school, they nickle and dime you for literally everything, and their support for students is nonexistent. I had to report something to HR, and HR made it very clear that they existed to protect the university from ME, and not the other way around. There are a handful of wonderful and supportive professors, but there are just as many who start off their class announcing that they are tenured and can do whatever they want with zero consequences, so if you don't like it, you should consider dropping their class. I was there for a master's program, and I genuinely believe that I have learned more about my chosen career path from my work experience than I ever did in the master's program at CSUF. The disparity between programs is also alarming the business building is shiny and clean and has a Starbucks and air conditioning, and the humanities building looks like if a strong enough earthquake hits, it'll crumble to the ground instantly. There also doesn't seem to be good interuniversity communication, so as a student it was difficult to get information about what was going on on campus. Definitely would not recommend CSUF for any undergraduate or graduate program.
Unfortunately, it's a very disorganized school. Probably due to having high volume of student workers in many areas where they should have real employees. When I needed help for any issue they often told me "there's nothing we can do". So I end up doing my investigation to seek out actual faculty to get answer. I could always find people to get to the point of things cuz I am a resourceful person but if you are lazy this is not a school for you.
Tip 1. When sending in a time sensitive important document I highly recommend CC many people for evidence otherwise they forget to process and put you through hell to have them fix it. They truly do not care and will focus on covering their own butt than get to the truth.

I noticed people are excusing CSUF's lack of parking because it is commuting school. CSULB is commuting school as well but they have parking and permit is $100 less of CSUF.

Like others wrote, academic counselors do not have students' best interest in mind. My friend wanted to take bio class he needed but his counselor added him in class he didn't need just because the class he needed was full. WTF

They are more into international students. They had to pay a lot more money to attend CSUF so they are more interested in serving international students. It's a business.

They have spring concert every year which can be good. However, their main artists didn't show up. From ticket sales to event organization a mess. As a student organization we can reserve TSU a year and a half ahead. We need to do this if we want to reserve the date we want BUT they can change if they double book with ASI event. SO WHAT'S THE POINT OF "RESERVATION"?!

Somebody mentioned that the campus looked like a resort. I would say it is more like a swap meet. Non academic event happens almost every weekend (sometime on week days and nights). Free foods and promotional items Personally I would rather have tuition or parking fee reduced.

I had to work with accounting office for my organization. They lost our money and couldn't figure out what had happened to it for entier semester!! We are not talking few bucks. They lost $5000+!! In the end, we found out that the information desk transfer money but the accounting office couldn't find the notification. I got more complain but don't have time to list all. You probably got my point.
Campus tour today was good, students seemed happy and excited to be at school. Campus is neat and nice, students were friendly and helpful.
I'm writing this review as a sociology major.

The faculty is very friendly, and every professor I've taken has your best interest at heart.

It's a solid, very affordable commuter school, from which I will graduate with no debt. Considering the cost and proximity to home, I'm glad to have chosen CSUF over my dream school, USC.

As is the case with most things, your experience here is what you make of it. If you make an honest attempt to forge meaningful bonds with people, you will make many friends.

The only drawback is parking. Large swaths of students, despite having paid $200+ on a parking pass, resort to shelling out $8 to park at the Marriot Hotel next door because finding school parking is needlessly difficult.
I graduated from CSUF a few years ago when it was surrounded by swamps and volcanoes. Well, maybe not that long ago but it was the best experience I've ever had. I've worked with several alumni and they all agree that it's the best education you can get.

I visited recently and the campus looks like a resort. The parking is still sucky though.
Senior Mechanical Engineer. Programs pretty difficult. Classes go by top % As, Bs, Cs, then lower. Parking is the most expensive out of all the other colleges. Tutoring center sucks. Only 1 tutor available like 3 hours a week on 40% of the classes. Huge + is the TSU food area. The Panda is bomb. Campus is clean. Library's fine. Feels like a real university compared to CSULB which feels like a junior college
So this review is for the phone operators on campus. They are extremely rude and hang up on you. Really short, and snappy. When I finally called back, they transferred me to the wrong dept. it's pretty amazing (sarcasm).
My friend called to know about her application and the lady helping her was so rude! Horrible service! ):
Being an applicant has required me to contact many of the schools admissions office and i must say out of the 5 colleges I've applied to, CSUF has been the most difficult. There's one admissions employee who i believe is on their answer machine recording who was extremely rude when i had a hard time understanding what she was trying to say. She got so frustrated with me she insanely said "i can't keep repeating myself" and then hung up. I then tried to call back and she stopped answering the phone. I believe her actions where very unprofessional and someone who doesn't have the patience to explain something more than once should not be working in that office. I read reviews online and I'm not the only ones encountered this problem with the admissions staff. I really hope it is taken care of because i wouldn't want anyone else who's trying to apply to this prestigious school to get a bad feel for it just because of one employee.
What is the point to buy a parking permit, and you dont cannot find anh parking! My first class is at 10AM and i have to come to school around 7 something to get the parking... worst parking ever!
