List of Oakmont Of Fullerton's Reviews
The past two years at Oakmont have been beautiful. My parents, both over 90, came to Oakmont after twin health catastrophies took them out of their home. After a couple of bumpy months, my parents healed enough to recognize they were where they needed to be, and grew to love their new living situation. The entire staff - food service, laundry and housekeeping, medtechs, admins, literally everyone working there - are patient, kind and always ready to help. We are so sad to be leaving, but we needed to relocate to be closer to family. Dad already misses the fresh cookies! Thank you, Oakmont of Fullerton, for embracing my parents and taking such good care of all of us. We miss you! You'll always be in our hearts and prayers.
Oakmont of Fullerton provided kind and consistently loving care for my sister. Maria, the Executive Director and nurse Jhoana were especially helpful with issues that arose with our sister. Our family gives Oakmont of Fullerton 5 stars and would recommend it highly. We are grateful to them.
I went to visit my grandma for happy hour and dinner before she moves out of this facility, and I felt compelled to write this review. I used to genuinely love coming here, especially before the change in management, Maria RCC, and staff. I always enjoyed visiting her during brunch, and my favorite memory was Mother's Day brunch last year. The staff were amazing, welcoming, and friendly, and it truly felt like a warm, caring environment. Even now, when we visit in the mornings, the staff continue to be amazing -- attentive, kind, and genuinely caring toward the residents. Unfortunately, my most recent evening visit was heartbreaking and very disappointing. When I arrived, I walked in on staff being rough with my grandma while changing her brief. They were rude, did not acknowledge me, and didn't even say hello. Seeing my grandma treated that way was upsetting, uncomfortable, and deeply concerning. Later that evening, I took my grandma to the evening movie around 6:00 pm. No one was there, so I walked around to see if someone could turn the movie on for the residents. I saw and heard three staff members along with Maria RCC sitting in the RCC room eating and laughing. When I asked if someone could please turn on the movie, it took about 10 minutes for anyone to come out and do so. It was discouraging to see residents waiting while staff appeared unbothered. I am relieved that my grandma will be moving to a facility closer to my mom, but it truly breaks my heart to see how much this place has changed. There are clear issues with professionalism and resident care, particularly during the evening hours. I hope these concerns are taken seriously so no other family has to witness their loved one being treated this way.
My parents moved into Oakmont almost a year ago and the care they receive here is over the moon!! I am so grateful for the personal care and treatment of both mom (memory care) and dad (assisted living). It has been a huge adjustment and they are in great hands. Jhoana and her team are amazing!
CAREGIVING: It has been nearly one year since my parents moved to Oakmont, during which I have gained a deeper understanding of the vital contributions made by caregivers and med-tech personnel to both my parents' well-being and my own peace of mind. The Director of Health Services, the Resident Care Coordinator, along with the caregiving and med-tech teams, consistently display outstanding professionalism, and I truly value their dedicated, round-the-clock care for my parents. The significance of their work became especially clear when my mother fell in their apartment soon after their arrival at Oakmont of Fullerton. I'm thankful that her emergency alert necklace allowed for a swift response and appreciate how effectively the team coordinated with paramedics and kept me informed. CONCIERGE: Since my first visit, the concierge staff have consistently shown professionalism, offering sincere greetings. They welcome residents, families, and medical professionals, while also ensuring that residents with cognitive impairments stay safely within the facility unless accompanied by authorized personnel or relatives. CULINARY: Oakmont of Fullerton recently appointed a new executive chef who demonstrates a thorough commitment to meeting residents' dietary needs. Since the new executive chef became part of the team, both the amount and quality of food have improved. I would like to see premium cuts of meat added to the menu, along with baked potatoes as an additional side choice. There have been instances where hot meals were served cold as a result of delays, including food remaining under heat lamps, on back counters, or not being picked up promptly by waitstaff. Enhanced communication between culinary and waitstaff personnel is recommended to address this issue. WAITSTAFF: Although the waitstaff manage numerous tasks, enhancing follow-up service is advisable. Staff should periodically return to check on residents, ensuring all needs are addressed. Furthermore, tables should be promptly cleaned and reset after guests have completed their meals and left the dining area. Removing soiled tablecloths prior to seating new guests would be beneficial. Employing a dedicated staff member responsible for cleaning and resetting tables may improve overall efficiency, allowing waitstaff to concentrate on attending to residents and guests. Waitstaff can further elevate the experience by greeting residents courteously and showing genuine enthusiasm in their roles.
I was looking for a place closer to home than his current assisted living facility because in a little over two months my husband had been in the hospital and skilled nursing 3 times, and it was taking a toll on me. I had input his issues and various facilities contacted me confirming I that it was assisted living that we needed. Pricilla Prera of Oakmont of Fullerton contacted me and told me that it was Memory Care and Hospice. Pricilla’s expertise and intuition proved to be beyond the usual marketing, proposing what would be returning to the world of living with the needed comprehensive level of support. My husband came to Oakmont of Fullerton with an oxygen tank, just like he had at two hospitals and two skilled nursing facilities. He usually spent days deeply sleeping causing even a return to the hospital. Oakmont of Fullerton Memory Care staff knew what to do to help him enjoy life no longer needing oxygen or full daytime sleeping from day 1. Hospice here is not about lethargically waiting to die. The staff is outstanding –the director Ben-Hur Santos, activities staff, meds room nurses and staff, all the caregiving staff who are with the residents throughout the day, and housekeeping staff who keep his room clean and fresh. I can see the compassion and patience they show to everyone. The staff is attentive to his needs and take the initiative to take him to the toilet throughout the day. He doesn’t miss meals because he is taken to meals. He is encouraged to participate in activities completing artwork, answering questions, reading out load to others, singing, etc. He is proud that he can correctly answer quiz questions or make and draw things, even flower arrangements for the table. Staff encourage him to flourish and enjoy living at Oakmont. He is going to have problems with his dementia and multiple physical conditions. He has had several falls because he can’t be chained to his wheelchair or bed. But the staff as always problem solves and changed the location of his bed, for example. For his blood sugars, there is constant monitoring, needed adjustments to medications, and adjustments for eating based on his actual numbers. This staff is engaged, takes the initiative to make his life better, is so hardworking, and treats residents with smiles, encouraging words, or kind pats on the shoulder. Memory Care/Hospice is the option that we took and is without regrets, especially after seeing the positive outcomes provided by the excellent Oakmont of Fullerton staff, community, and environment. The entire staff, both Memory Care and Assisted Living, has been welcoming and outstanding. And only from Pricilla representing Oakmont of Fullerton did I hear the truth of what my husband truly needed for his care.
I just wanted to share my personal experience because the care here truly deserves recognition. Knowing my loved one is at Oakmont gives me so much peace of mind. The care department has been nothing short of amazing. The Health Services Director Jhoana and RCC Maria have always gone above and beyond. They are attentive, compassionate, and truly take the time to make sure residents are cared for the right way. You can tell they genuinely care, and that means everything to families like mine. The hospitality here is also incredible. The front desk, culinary, and care staff are so warm and welcoming. I’m very grateful for the level of care and support my family has received here.
When my mom first moved in everything was amazing, staff were very sweet and welcoming. Love all the amenities they provide as it has been helping keeping my mom active. Unfortunately they have been many instances where my mom had used her call button for assistance and no one shows up for 20+min, I understand they're are other residents but I have walked to the resident care coordinator Maria office on 3rd floor and found her along with care staff members laughing and eating all together in her office, sometimes just sitting on their phone while residents are calling for help. As someone who's worked in this field before I'm pretty sure break times should be staggered to ensure proper care of patients at all times, again this is something we pay for. Not to mention Maria N resident care coordinator attitude towards other, my mom has mentioned to me here and there pretty sad stories about her not being the kindest to other residents at oakmont, surprised someone like that is still allowed to work there. Oakmont is a great place but please ask to speak with the health service director for any needs as she is definitely better qualified. Thank you have a great day
Our experience at Oakmont has exceeded all of our expectations! The quality of care is outstanding and the staff is knowledgeable, helpful and so friendly. We are so grateful to call it home for our mother.
Removing my review because of my personal experience with a loved one there? As you know all families should be aware of the staff. Place is beautiful but staff is low quality. Rude, dismissive, unprofessional and uneducated. Susie is a caregiver that says awful comments, it's been said and heard. Please be mindful of who and what you hire. Place has too much potential for what works there
