Dr. Thanapathy is THE best! Her decades of experience and passion for continued education in her field of practice are what make her so precious. I moved away to the east coast several years ago and still travel back for office visits. I admire Dr. T's confidence and her direct communication style. I never have to wonder where she stands or what she believes is best for my health.
Dr Thanapathy is an excellent OB-GYN doctor for my wife and she delivered our son 40 years ago. I am sharing my very positive outcome with the PRP (Platelets Rich Plasma) injections that Dr. Thanapathy administered for my right knee osteoarthritis condition, that got worse with a Tennis knee injury, six months ago. I have been playing USTA Tennis league matches for the past 40 years. For the past 2 years I have been been playing Pickleball and Golf one a week, prior to the injury. When I consulted with my Orthopedic surgeon regarding my knee injury, he recommended a total knee replacement. I contacted Dr. Thanapathy since I wanted to pursue other non surgical options. Over the past 6 months, she administered 3 PRP shots, My knee condition improved with each shot. My gait has improved with no limping. I still have some knee stiffness and discomfort while coming down the stairs. Now I wear knee braces and I am back to playing doubles Tennis, Pickleball and Golf once week. If you have sports injuries and want to pursue non surgical options, I highly recommend consulting with Dr. Thanapathy.
If you have medical stay clear of this office. unfortunately her bedside manner is non existent. she's very short, rude, and she will belittle you.
My son is over-weight so that he attended Dr. Thanapathy's Ozempic weight loss program. Dr. Thanapathy educated my son the general strategies of weight control (diet, exercising, supplements, life style) in additional to Ozempic injection treatment. Dr. Thanapathy is kind, knowledgeable and treats patient nice and respect. Please ignore the negative comments in this website about her, you will never regret if you decide to meet her.
The Worst experience I have lived. Well deserved review, this happened 1year ago I tried not to post a review but I want to share my experience so other people don't live this horrible experience. I went for IV vitamins and I end up in the emergency room with my arm swallowing and black the pain was horrible. I asked Jumnah Thanapathy to pay at least for my emergency room even though I couldn't go to work for a whole week I only asked for that and she denied. What a shame!! Risk your health for some vitamins that it never happened because she doesn't even know how to administrate an IV. And for her to even denied to pay my emergency room wow that's low, I guess she can sleep well at night risking people lives.
Initial Yelp Review was removed. (Not by me) Filed Medical Board Complaint (See photos) I found this OB/GYN because she happens to be in network with Cigna PPO and I had a pleasant experience with her receptionist by phone which is why I felt comfortable scheduling an appointment with Dr. Thanapathy. While undressed, Dr. Thanapathy asked me health questions about myself and family, which is standard practice for any doctor. However, her tone of voice and how she asked the questions were uncalled for. NOBODY, not even a doctor, has the right to talk down to anybody, which includes GASLIGHTING, a patient, like this! We have every right to walk out of any room. We need to normalize calling individuals out for their toxic and unwelcome behavior. That's exactly what took place here. Dr. Thanapathy is rude, condescending, unprofessional, borderline unethical. Her behavior seems normal to her which is alarming to any reasonable person. Do not support this woman's business.
This doctor (if you can even call her one) is HORRIBLE!!!! "Doctor" Thanapy is so evil and mean please avoid getting treated like an animal! She's very mean and rude! I kinda knew what I was getting into because of all the bad reviews she has but I wanted to give her a chance. Biggest mistake ever! Besides her ugly attitude the walls of the rooms are super dirty everything looks so unsanitary! She is NOT professional at all please stay away from her and look for a real Doctor that will care for you!
Dr Thanapathy may be an ok doctor, but all the pamplets, posters, etc in the office were telling me that I could be better after some treatment. All the materials promote procedures to make women look younger or thinner. There are none that promote healthy living with exercise and eating right. It must be the way to get more money into the practice. It's sad that all the messages from magazines like Cosmo have made it into a Dr's office. Women are beautiful in all shapes, sizes and skin tones!
During my wife's first appointment with Dr Thanapathy, Dr Thanapathy asked my wife why she didn't go to her original OB/GYN when she found out she was pregnant. And my wife told Dr Thanapathy that the big reason was communication problems. During that same appointment, when Dr Thanapathy would ask my wife questions about her health habits, Dr Thanapathy would quickly answer for her (such as "Do you drink? Socially? Well not a lot" with no room for my wife to answer in between), which left my wife feeling judged if she would have answered for herself with any other answer, however slight of a deviation it might have been to the doctor's answers (Example: she was going to ask Dr Thanapathy during this appointment if she should be concerned about some drinking she had done at a bachelorette party about three weeks prior to the appointment, before she knew she was pregnant. After Dr Thanapathy's quick responses to her own question, my wife didn't even ask for fear of harsh judgement). Another note about the first appointment, she didn't bother to shake my wife's hand or learn her name. At one point, she even had to ask "what was your name again?", and then again answered her own question after reading the chart, before my wife could answer. My wife has had other appointments since then where the doctor greets her by name and handshake, clearly showing positive interaction from the start to make her feel comfortable. My wife is a middle school teacher, and her ability to make phone calls during the day is extremely limited. So she asked me to call Dr Thanapathy to ask some basic pregnancy questions on her behalf after her initial appointment. When I called Dr Thanapathy, she was very curt with me, telling me she would not speak with me. I understand that doctor/patient confidentiality exists, and I am grateful that Dr Thanapathy was not so quick as to disclose my wife's personal information to just anyone, but when I tried to explain that the questions were not specific to my wife's healthcare records but instead were general pregnancy questions (like whether to avoid spray tanning), she was quick to interrupt/cut me off and told me to inform my wife to use the patient portal to ask any non-urgent questions. Then my wife does use the portal to ask Dr Thanapathy some basic questions: - Whether it was safe for her to get a spray tan for a wedding in April (something she would only be doing at the insistence of the bride for all her bridesmaids). - Whether there are common/known foods she should avoid or should eat to help with nausea. - Whether she should be avoiding caffeine. - Whether it's safe to have one or two glasses of wine during any given week to relieve regular anxiety caused by the stress of teaching (my wife has not had any alcohol to this day since finding out she was pregnant). To our dismay, it only took 10 minutes for Dr Thanapathy to reply back and tell my wife that this was a lot of questions and insist that my wife make an appointment within a very short time frame of either that same day or early the next morning before she would be gone for a week. Due to my wife's inflexible schedule as a teacher, she cannot easily take time off for appointments every time she wants a few questions answered, especially on such short notice. To first have been so cold during the first appointment, have been so short with me over the phone, insist that my wife use the patient portal to ask non emergency questions, and then very quickly decide that she wouldn't answer questions through the portal and insist my wife make an appointment was very disheartening and worrisome. Quite frankly, it made my wife feel frustrated, embarrassed, and devalued, all things she should not be made to feel so early on in her first pregnancy. And then when my wife expressed these very same concerns to Dr Thanapathy directly through the portal, her response through the portal was: "I am really sorry but this portal is for urgent communications." This is in direct contrast to her original statement that we should be directing non-urgent questions through the patient portal. And it seems strange to us to tell a patient that the messaging system in the patient portal is for "urgent" communications. It would seem to me that urgent issues should be addressed by a more direct communication medium befitting of the urgency. The doctor/patient relationship my wife had with Dr Thanapathy in a very brief amount of time became exactly the type of doctor/patient relationship she was trying to avoid: cold, discouraging, judgmental, uncomfortable, and lacking in good communication.
As of today I am switching my obgyn. I have never been made to feel so bad about myself as this woman makes me feel. On my first appointment for confirmation of pregnancy, when locating my vagina she said it was "hard to find". Keep in mind this came right after she discussing my weight. (Yes I'm over weight).I took it with a grain of salt, she had a good degree and an ok score on Yelp. So I tried to not be sensitive. The next visit I had to be undressed so I put my clothes on the chair in the corner. She commented on how I'm a sloppy person. (Not in a playful way). Once again I thought, well it's just her personality. I can toughen up. I noticed She was always yelling at the receptionist, very hostile. Belittling her. As I have become more pregnant my hormones have increased and I have started to be very sensitive, depressed and anxious. I had an appointment today (I was crying all day and having panic attacks),and wanted to ask her about seeking mental help and where to go. She starts scolding me and talking down to me as I'm shaking crying (I cried about being overwhelmed at my job, and she took that immediately as me asking to be on work mans comp. Never once did I ask for that). She then Says I need to go through different outlets through my work etc. which is also fine. However she's so mean in the way she says it. She was scolding me. There's no bedside manor. Instead of calming me down, or simply saying "hey I'm not a therapist but let's get you one". No instead, she tells me that "pregnancy is about attitude". She says "it's not an illness you have, you have a problem with your work not being pregnant". I am trying to control my depression and anxiety. Unfortunately after waking to each day trying my best to be positive and happy my anxiety creeps up and I can not control my "attitude". She made me feel like I was grimy. I did not ever once ask not to work. That's not on the table. I live in Gilroy I can't afford that. I just needed some help today. And instead of that she humiliated me. I'm not knocking her advice or saying she's wrong for her information. She needs to think about the way she speaks to people and how she is making them feel. Obgyn is a very personal experience. It should not feel hostile, or judgmental.
