John F Cabrera's Online Review Report Card

Dr Cabrera is very gentle and kind. I’ve actually purposefully always asked for female gynecologist because I had a male one before, and he was very rough with me. Dr. Cabrera was very gentle and is the first male gyn that I would actually go back to. I also had a surgery done by him. He gave me clear instructions and called me the day after the procedure to check up on me. I would recommend him to anyone. As I was reading through his other reviews on Google, you would think that someone is trolling him because the negative comments are actually the opposite of how he treats you. He is very patient-focused and has excellent bedside manner.

Let me start with saying I NEVER been to the OB before in my life, and I was very nervous because since it was my first check up, I knew I was going to get a Pap smear done. Dr. Cabrera is the WORST doctor for this, I dont understand why men like him are allowed to treat women care. He had no patience with me and wanted to speed everything because there was other patients waiting. He told me if a person is sexually active he doesn't understand why someone should be scared to get a Pap smear. I have reported already and I hope this helps someone from going through what I went through. I left crying and he never spoke to me after, he left it to his assistant to tell me to just book a next appt instead. THE WORST EVER.

Nothing but the best experience from dr Cabrera. I had a situation and multiple doctors were not interested in removing an iud that had escaped and was floating around my body but he took it on and has been open honest and upfront. He listens to his patients and that's all I could ask for!

The doctor does not respect their patients or their time. I was scheduled for a procedure at 2:30, but I was only taken into the office at 4:30 just to have one simple test done. Nobody seemed to care — I ended up leaving after sitting in the room for an hour, wondering why no one was coming in. Meanwhile, the doctor was just sitting in his office, talking on the phone about personal matters, as if it was perfectly fine that I had been waiting for hours. It is absolutely unacceptable. I started my pregnancy with a different OB in another state and transferred to Dr Cabrera after moving back to LA. Over the months I was a patient my wait time averaged almost two hours per visit. One of those times, I'd been waiting in a treatment room for him for over an hour, and found out he'd been at lunch the entire time. These issues were a huge turn off from the beginning but not a deal breaker, as I will overlook inconveniences for great care. Unfortunately I have almost nothing positive to say about Dr. Cabrera. The comparison between him and my previous OB were staggering. He relied on me to lead the appointments, and gave almost nothing in the way of evaluation. He made immature jokes. He complained to a staff member that he was going to have to pick up additional shifts. Most importantly, I shared a few symptoms I was having, including itching, and he shrugged them off with no suggestions or solutions. Flash forward to now. I'm nearing the end of my pregnancy and felt really clear that there was no way I felt comfortable with him delivering. I transferred back to my original OB out of desperation. During my first appointment with her she said she was concerned about some of the numbers from the blood work I had on file. Cabreras office never flagged any of this. Next, she said she was concerned about my itching and requested another blood test. Cabrera never said my itching was a concern. Turns out I have serious issues with my liver and had to be referred for early delivery due to ICP. Transferring doctors literally saved the health and potentially LIFE of my baby. It's hard to find an OB in LA but keep looking. So many red flags about cabreras practice and professionalism. Only glad someone else caught it in time.

I've expressed myself to my nurse several times and was disregarded until I made an initial claim with the insurance about the care of my pregnancy. Dr Cabrera was great serious and quite but great work in my c section and concerns. Now the staff overall it's just a hit or miss on who you deal with the nurse I deal with was yamilet which wasn't that helpful when it came to my disability leave extension or my general concern with care I was receiving and some reason I could not change her. Another thing staff really doesn't communicate well with each other I had 3 people call me stating the same thing over and over after I got an answer from the first caller all days later.. ask for a disability extension ahead of time not once it's over * Be on top of your insurance and hospital that you are choosing. I really wish I had more informational help from staff. Although I could say there was this one lady that was so nice and gave me so much information but I could not work with her one on one which sucked. She has her own office decorated really nicely and is located on the other side of the front desk I forgot her name but thank you. I will not be returning. I had no choice but to stay with them since I was 6 months pregnant already when all this started happening it's just so disappointing. And when the office found out I made the complaint. They brought me in very rudely and confronted me who does that... doctors deserve better staff !
