I have Blue Cross PPO and Medicare. When I arrived for my appointment the receptionist said, "We will bill for the facility (hospital) and professional, so you would cover the the co-insurance and the deductable would apply." I was alarmed thinking I would be paying. Usually wherever I go I'm covered 100%. I called Blue Cross while still at the office. The member representative said I was covered 100% and the receptionist shouldn't have said that. The receptionist said she was trained to say that. The BC represetative said they also have an agreement with medicare. Meanwhile, time passed and I lost my appointment. Although I'm still a little confused, it seemed to me they didn't want me as a patient because they would have had to bill Medicare and they wouldn't have collected their full billing. Maybe that's why the receptionist is trained to raise uneccessary concerns--they want to discourage Medicare patients. The BC representative said the receptionist could have easily helped clarify that I'm 100% covered by checking my insurance ID.
