MIckie Cheng's Online Review Report Card

I used to see Dr. Cheng for management of my thyroid cancer. I did not like her at first. She rolled her eyes at me several times, talked to me like a child and and I just didn't get the impression she cared very much. After I had a partial thyroidectomy I felt completely awful for at least a year. Every time I saw Dr. Cheng I told her about how awful I felt and I KNEW it had to do with my thyroid and medications because I wasn't feeling this terrible before my surgery, but she insisted it was something else because my thyroid levels were "normal" and wasn't willing to try anything else. I didn't want the goal to be for my levels to be "normal" I wanted the levels to be optimal. I was hoping to find an endocrinologist that would collaborate with my functional medicine doctor and try a different approach but Dr. Cheng was unwilling and just kept insisting that my symptoms had nothing to do with my thyroid. She sent me to several different specialists to try to get to the root cause of me feeling so bad. All these specialists couldn't find anything wrong. I gave her 3 stars though because I did start to warm up to her a little towards the end and she would order a lot of the tests I requested. She also referred me to another endocrinologist who I found to be a much better fit. The new endocrinologist is willing to work with me with a different approach and I finally started feeling better, which proves that it was my thyroid all along that was causing my symptoms.

My primary care doctor referred me to an endocrinologist to help control my diabetes Type II which was getting worse.  My HMO assigned me to Dr. Cheng whom I have now been seeing for about 3 years.  I am happy to say that Dr. Cheng has greatly assisted getting my disease under much better control and is careful to order lab tests regularly to keep an eye on my health.  I find her very knowledgeable and straight-forward, which I appreciate.  My biggest complaint - and the reason for my 3 star rating - is the ridiculously long wait times when I appear for scheduled appointments.  She does not seem to be a very good time manager, which results in my never once having been seen on time.  She is even late for video visits and I have learned to keep a book open when waiting for her to log in.  Apart from this administrative complaint, I have otherwise found Dr. Cheng to be very professional, well-informed and attentive to details and intend to continue treating with her - and just be ready for a long wait!

My wife goes to Mickie Cheng for her Addisons..  Dr. Cheng is on top of it knows what she's doing and appears to be an expert in her field.  When my wife was in the hospital in SR although,  Dr. Cheng does not have privileges there, she kept contact with the Drs. there to solve her problem.  She's amazing

This was my first time meeting Dr. Cheng. She is such a caring doctor. She never rushed me, listened and was so kind and knowledgeable. Great experience. I would recommend her definitely.

She is the very worst doctor I have ever seen.  She does not know endocrinology, is disrespectful, and is very wasteful of my time.  The main complaint is that she does not know even the medical information in her field.  She is so disrespectful that I finally said I had to go.  I knew more medical information than she; I showed her information she should have known.  This information is endocrine.I have never been treated with disdain, nor treated as a child.  She has no respect for anyone. She is to be avoided at all costs.  Seriously.

I am so lucky to have found Dr. Cheng. My first appointment was very thorough, she asked a lot of questions and was a great listener trying to get to the bottom of how to help me correct some of the health issues I have been experiencing. She was very empathetic and informed, I immediately knew I had made the right choice for an endocrinologist after lots of research. I had a question between appointments and she was very quick to respond. I feel for the first time I have found a doctor that will help me to resolve issues that have been present my whole life. Highly recommend Dr. Cheng.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Mickie Cheng.  She is now working at Marin Endocrin.  Dr Cheng changed not only my life, but my families life. I met Dr Cheng when it was confirmed that I developed Autoimmune Type 1 diabetes 3 weeks before I turned 40. I also had other autoimmune conditions, but there was one that couldn't be confirmed by any doctor.   I was told at the time by previous primary care physician there is nothing more I can do for you.  I told him I am unable to accept this answer, I am 40.  Dr Cheng pressed forward and worked with my present primary care physician and did a blood test for a very rare disease called SPS (Stiff Person Syndrome).  This is a very rare neurological disease that happens to 1 and 1 million. I was sent to the best neurologist, Dr Liberty Jenkins at ALS/Forbes Norris who confirmed the diagnoses and am being treated for this rare painful disease. If it wasn't for Dr Cheng, this would have never been found.  Dr Cheng thinks outside the box and will not stop until she finds a result, good or bad.   Dr Cheng will always be one of my angels on this earth and those that have endocrine concerns or any illness related should only go to the best, that is Dr Cheng. You will not find anyone better.
