Dr. Mamita have been my doctor for over 3 years. He is very professional and takes his time to review my medical problems. I have no problems getting an appointment. When I have a concern or a request he is always willing to address my concern by either calling me back. The staff are always cordial and courteous. Thank you all for the excellent servicemen j

A sibling who lives long distance changed my mothers long time primary doctor to a brand new doctor which is a whole other story, she liked and benefitted from her long time physician who provided very good care had all her history etc, he was professional kind and took his responsibility serious, the occasional times she or I left a message, he always called back by the end of the day. With this doctor Mamita, her first online appointment with him he was 45 minutes late and in the short time only spoke w my mom apr 5 minutes the rest of the time he spoke w me and some to the same sibling who lives far away and not present or involved in her day to day care - It was hard to describe it as a true doctor appointment since he barely spoke with her. The second appointment he had clear directions to call me since she’s with me in order to have her see him online. 15 minutes passed so I called his office to see what the delay was, the secretary informed me Dr Mamita was busy talking to my sibling (?) I told her this appointment is for my mother, not my sibling— she said he’d call me soon (?) when he did he went over results of lab tests and list of meds, I told him at least twice my mom was waiting for her appointment she’d had breakfast and got ready ahead of time, he hastily said he had other patients waiting and had to go and actually opted not to even see her (??) She asked what happened to her”doctor appointment and I awkwardly explained I was sorry he seemed to busy to meet with her The next day I called and left a message for him to get clarity on something , 2 days past no return call so I left another one, no return call. I spoke with someone I know who’s a RN who told me to go into his office and talked with me while I waited - i let the secretary know I was concerned I had to come to the office to get my question answered as he hadn’t returned my message over 4-5 days. They had a small seating area in the hallway, wasting time sitting in a hallway rather than him simply returning my message as her longtime doctor did— after a while another patient came with her daughter we said hello to one another,she asked if I’m a patient I told her no, my mom was and that I had to come down bc he didn’t return 3 messages I’d left over the course of nearly a week. . She said that’s not good, that it’s important since I’m taking care of her- and the secretary I think overheard and ushered them inside not wanting her to hear any more. The doctor finally came out to talk with me and when I told him I had left an important message for him a week ago he shrugged it off as if it was no concern at all to ignore patients or their caregivers questions. It’s the doctors responsibility not to leave a patient guessing so I’ll have to see about changing her back to her previous longtime physician. I see from some of the reviews I’m not the only one who’s experienced a lack of care and follow through with his patients.

On the plus side, Dr. Mamita visits various senior care facilities. However, he has missed one scheduled appointment, he has shown up without an appointment or any warning twice, and we have waited nearly an hour past our scheduled appointment time in his office. On one occasion, he showed up without appoinment to administer a vaccination my parents were unaware of and he gave no explanation why it was needed. Most recently, he spent time on a form and therefore put my mother into his system schedule, triggering an automated appointment notice which caused consternation because we were unaware of having any appointment. Dr. Mamita does not listen well and does not understand the issues he causes for his patients.

This doctor neglected to return calls re the patients care over a period of several weeks resulting in them having to physically travel to the office to attempt to speak with him. He doesn’t not at least in our experience place the patients care as being important, he also which was unheard of in my life neglected to see or talk the patient at their scheduled appointment, and opted instead to speak with a long distance relative- how on earth could he claim to be a concerned doctor while at the same time choosing not to see the patient who was already for the appointment he’s responsible as the doctor for his patients care it’s neglect to ensure his patients medical needs are met - reported to insurance and changed her to a doctor who takes his medical responsibility seriously

I would rate this doctor 10 stars if I could. He has helped me so much answers my questions and I would highly recommend this doctor. He has reviewed my medical issues and medication individually. His staff is very helpful and friendly too.

Would give 0 stars if I could. Had maybe 3 visits with this guy and 1 was very strange. My lawyers needed him to release paperwork for an accident I was in, which caused me vertigo and a concussion. I came in for a checkup and he immediately yelled at me and told me "if your lawyers want paperwork, they need to subpoena me" I was pretty confused. He then calmed down and acted like everything was all good, that was over a year ago. I meant or change my Primary care physician after this incident but never did and now because of COVID I was sort of stuck with him. I tried to find a new primary through my insurance company Aetna, but most doctors weren't taking new patients :/. I had a bad case of hives and had to go into him (already made a visit to urgent care and the meds didn't work.) I called early in the morning and they told me I had an appointment available for 230pm (great) so I called back around 1:30 to see if they were still cash only (who wants to go to the bank with a bad case of hives) but his receptionist said "no we take checks too". She also informed me that I would have to pay for a $100 deductible when my normal copay is $35. I asked why or what had changed. They proceeded to put me on hold, told me I hadn't paid for my $1500 deductible ???? I proceeded to tell them I have full coverage from my job and the other 3 times I visited their office I only paid the copay. She again place me on hold, picked the phone back up, and asked me what I wanted to do ... with no explanation. She then tried to place me on hold again but I told her I would call my insurance company and call them back (real inconvenient when your whole body is itching). My insurance confirmed everything I said was true and there was no reason for a $100 deductible. So we did a 3 way call to his office and this time Dr. Mamita answers (he never answers phone calls). She confirmed that he was an in network provider and that I should only pay a $35 co pay and asked what the $100 deductible was for. He said something about my flex pay spending (sounded like he was trying to commit insurance fraud) and she told him that he doesn't need to know that information. He then placed us on hold, in actuality 'mute'. The insurance rep from Aetna told me things weren't adding up and I responded I don't even feel safe going in at this point. He took his phone off mute and started yelling telling me if i didn't want to come in any more I could find a new doctor. My rep literally hung up the phone at that point and called me back to apologize for him. I never read his rep reviews but I see 3 other people had a similar experience. Short tempted doctor who really doesn't seemed interested in your health, but charging you top dollar to yell at you. Maybe the experience is different when your black or Hispanic. I wouldn't recommend this guy to anyone. I don't even know how he's a doctor.

We selected Dr. Mamita because we were told that he conducts home visits which is ideal for my mom who is blind, wheelchair bound, on dialysis, and is suffering from anxiety. All appointments were easy to book and the office staff were very warm, friendly, and attentive. However, all three appointments we had were in his office because his schedule for home visits was already full. We arrived early or on time to all appointments and the office was always full of patients. On our second visit, scheduled for 3:30, we didn't get seen until 5 pm because he was running behind schedule. For the sake of time, I attempted to drop off IHSS paperwork for the doctor to fill out the day before our third office visit but was told that I had to bring it to my mom's appointment the next day because he likes to have the patient present to fill it out which makes sense. The following day, Dr. Mamita greeted us and asked what I needed filled out and told me that it was going to take time but proceeded filling it out anyway and then told me that he wanted $30 cash payable up front for filling out the form. I told him that it said on the front that Medi-Cal would reimburse him but he said he doesn't file claims with them because they don't pay. I told him that I was not informed that there would be a fee and he kept repeating, "If you don't want to pay, you don't have to pay." When he has finished with the paperwork he attempted to take my mom's blood pressure but told us it wasn't reading because she had to relax, so he listened to her heart and said see you next time. I had prescriptions to refill and wanted him to look at two skin irritations on my mom's hand and abdomen but he told me that he didn't have anymore time for her because he had already spent 30 minutes filling out her paperwork. My dad didn't hear him and asked me why he didn't look at my mom's skin so I told him in Spanish, "No tiene más tiempo," which translates into he doesn't have anymore time. Dr. Mamita yelled at me in my face and said, "Don't tell your dad that I didn't help your mom, I spent 30 minutes with her already and if you don't like it, you can find another primary doctor." I said, "I sure will." The nurse/receptionist at the front desk asked what happened and the two patients in the waiting room looked at me as well because I'm sure they heard him yelling at me and saw me very upset. I explained what happened and she explained the fees for the forms and offered to go talk to him but I just wanted to leave before I started crying. My mom was shaking and my dad was shocked that a doctor would snap in this manner. Perhaps he didn't understand what I said but he claims to be bilingual and has tried talking to my mom in Spanish even though I've told him that her primary language is English. While I was waiting to receive my paperwork, the doctor came back to the front desk and told me that I should take her to urgent care until I find a new doctor and to have a good day. It is what it is, I've read the other reviews as well and wish that I had read them before but now I realize that this was not an isolated case, there are others who had similar experiences, and maybe this is just a blessing in disguise. In all fairness, he was very quick to write prescriptions and filled out my mom's paperwork but I do believe a sign should be posted about additional fees for paperwork and that appointments are limited to 30 minutes to avoid misunderstandings like this in the future because $30 might seem like a small fee to a doctor but to a senior who is on a limited budget or someone who is working minimum wage it could be stressful to be hit with a hidden fee.

Dr. Marcil Mamita’s professional medical care of my parents, has resulted in a tremendous positive change in my parents health. Their previous primary care doctor of over twenty years began to show a lack of interest and concern in their overall health as they approached their senior years. His attention to detail and compassionate care is something they never had experienced before Dr. Mamita. We will always be grateful to him for the day he recommended my dad immediately go to the emergency room when he was feeling fatigue at a regular appointment visit. That visit concluded in the diagnosis of a heart attack. If not for his experience and specialized skill this may have been missed and resulted in a fatal conclusion. My dad and our family are eternally appreciative for Dr. Mamita’s knowledge and vigilance, which “saved his life”!

Dr. Mamita saw my 91 year old grandmother twice. There is no way this man should be a Geriatric Physician, for several reasons. 1. He refuses to communicate with individuals who are hearing impaired, not deaf, but hard of hearing. 2. He has an extremely short temper. 3. He makes numerous mistakes...he confused her with another patient and examined her as if she had diabetes and arthritis of the knee, neither of which, she has! He also changed two of her medications, which seems inappropriate to do for a senior who has been on the same medications for years. You change their medications only if necessary, and one at a time. 5. He will NOT even listen to more than 3 issues! Literally, he puts his hand up and says no, no more than 3 issues. That doesn't make any sense to me for a doctor who provides care for seniors. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to my worst enemy.

He also changed two of her medications, which he said were outdated and would interact with her existing medicatios...then the pharmacy refused to fill the new medication because IT had interactios with her medications! It also seems inappropriate to change more than a medication at a time for a senior who has been on the same medications for years. Seems better to change 1 medication at a time to minimize impact on the patient. 5. He will NOT even listen to more than 3 issues! Literally, he puts his hand up and says no, no more than 3 issues. That doesn't make any sense to me for a doctor who provides care for seniors. I wouldn't recommend this doctor to my worst enemy.
