List of Huntington Beach Internal Medicine's Reviews
Dr. Correa is an exceptional primary care physician. She takes steps to make you feel comfortable such as taking the time to answer questions, explaining lab results and medication regiments. She is very approachable and does not dismiss your concerns even if she doesn't have those concerns herself. She will not hesitate to refer you to a specialist if she doesn't feel she is able to address your concerns. She provides thorough "after visit summaries" with instructions for any medication changes, lab orders, and follow up instructions. I always feel heard and well taken care of when I see her.
So my first appointment, with Dr. Karissa Chow, went very well. Unfortunately I was back in the hospital when it was time for the follow-up appt., and now I wait to see someone else at the end of this month. I don't really like having to change from one doctor to another because my primary doctor doesn't have an appointment for the next two or three months. This is insurance driven, I'm sure, but it isn't right. There should be appointments available on a regular basis for follow-ups, after-hospitalization, and for urgent matters that don't require the ED. If we are going to be forced to choose a doctor without any opportunity to pre-interview even the doctor's staff, we deserve to have the same doctor more than once. O/w get rid of the "primary doctor" fiction.
A few years ago I changed to Dr. Hiteshi and I liked it very much. He has a warm and caring attitude on the bedside and he really takes time to listen to me and talk. I never felt anxious. In January I was depressed and out of control which surprised me.He suggested that I meditate and prescribed antidepressants. I hope he can tell me more about the antidepressants he prescribed for me. This doesnt seem to help me relieve my depression even if anything makes it worse. What helps is healing and meditation.Once I felt my condition was under control Dr. Hiteshi and I decided to stop taking antidepressants. This is when the real nightmare begins. I feel like Im going crazy it took me MONTHS to get back to normal.I searched for SSRI withdrawal medications and quickly learned that this is a very common problem with this type of medication. If I just tried meditation and therapy I would have been much better but the doctor likes to prescribe pills.
I have my New Patient appointment next week. I have filled out all of the on-line forms, including meds list, and have my good girl barcode. Disappointed that I could not get an appointment with the primary care physician that I chose, even though she (O'Hara) states on the website she is accepting new patients. Found out it would be a 2 month wait for an appointment even though HMGs website advertises same-day appointments. So I took who was available and we'll see. I am very discouraged by these really bad reviews. If it doesn't work I'll have to find another group that uses Hoag Hospital. My experience with Memorial Care was SOOOO bad that I won't go there again, and I like the private rooms. So next Wednesday I shall update. So I've been there and everybody was very polite, no problems at all. The front desk people were knowledgeable and friendly. The only problems now are with the web site upkeep. They are very far behind on that. Be sure to ask when you make an appointment whether its on the second or third floor - the web page and reminders will not tell you anything. This is bad management, which seems to be a problem throughout the Hoag-related entities right now.

This is actually a negative 1 star. Although the doctors may be good, the challenges to actually getting to talk to one of them, or scheduling an appointment has become such a patience puzzle I can't wait for open enrollment to get away from these people. Hoag has made it so impersonal to communicate or establish a relationship with your medical practitioner. I have 3-4 "buffers" to speak with before I ever get to my doctors office. If you are wondering why you have a ridiculous co-pay, it's because they have to pay the 7 people you see in front of you doing nothing - to do nothing.
Wish I could give a zero. I can never get an appointment with my primary. Even through I saw one of their Drs, at that same office, 4 months ago they won't sign a physical release because it wasn't my primary. She is never available!!!! In addition I spent 6 months in pain with multiple visits back to the office. They finally ordered an MRI which showed such a large spinal herniation that I needed surgery that same week. HMOs are the worst and going back there is not an option.

Dr. Correa was wonderful. She was professional, warm and friendly. She listened and spent quite a bit of time with me. She was the best doctor I have seen since the pandemic and for prior years as well. She was thorough and she actually cares. I know I am in good hands. The other employees Ashley and Riley were excellent as well.Thanks.
Had an infection that required immediate treatment and went to emergency room at Hoag Irvine. I was there for many hours and had to return the next day for a check on the infection. They decided it would be wise to remove a cyst brought on by the infection and I was there for many more hours. On both visits I was amazed at how nice all the staff were to me and the other patients. Five stars to all of you and fully deserved!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
