Really like Dr. Punim. He's helped me allot with my Thyroid. Very friendly and nice staff. Highly recommend. 5*
I am a brand new patient of Dr. Punim's. He came highly recommended by my cardiologist, my primary care and my gastroenterologist. I, at first, avoided making an appointment due to some of the negative reviews here on Yelp, but my gastro spoke so highly of him I decided to give him a try. I found him to be very pleasant, thorough and easy to talk to about my diabetes. He gave me all the time I needed and answered my questions fully and without hesitation. His responses made sense to me. My wait time was very short as well. His office staff was also pleasant on the phone and in person. I thought I was well set to renew my prescriptions from my primary care, but it turns out they had messed up my amounts and I could not renew. One call to Dr. Punim's office and I received an immediate new prescription for what I needed. The office was very clean and orderly so I'm very suspicious of some of the awful reviews already posted here. My entire experience was professionally managed and cordial and they were far easier to get assistance from than my former doctor's personnel. I think most medical people are professional and cordial so long as you treat them the same way; we are all human and if you are rude or impatient or otherwise unfriendly, you'll probably get a response equal to what you give. Just my thoughts.
Been a type one diabetic for over 10 years, Dr. Paul Rosenblit is the worst I have encountered yet. The most unfriendly and difficult staff to deal with. Doesnt have the equipment to test your A1C in the office. Has outdated advice, philosophies, everything. Gave me the incorrect prescription of insulin and refused to update it with the pharmacy without making an additional appointment for his mistake.

Horrible experience to begin with and that only was with making an appointment. Office Lady was not very friendly and did not care that they spelled "M.d." wrong on their yelp website and their number is very wrong. She asked me to hold, gave a big sigh and muffled "c'mon stupid computer." She is very angry and unhappy inside and I don't want my uterus entering an office environment that way. Plus, if this doctor requires you come in just to go over normal results with you , is a waste of time and billing ... I canceled before even meeting doctor...I'm finding another doctor.
Dr. Punim was an excellent physician. He provided a clear and concise diagnosis, ordered appropriate lab tests and medicated as indicated. He was highly professional and sympathetic. I am very pleased with the level of care I received.
I should give zero stars, but it is not a choice.
This is the most disgusting doctor's office I have ever been in. I was referred to this "specialist" to assist with chemo side effects. The place was so filthy, and completely unprofessional my spouse said "let's leave" before the doctor ever walked in. (See my numerous photos I took just for Yelpers to see the reality of this place)

I should have cut and run , but I needed the test results that I was sent here for. I knew we would never be back once I had the order for the tests my oncologist needed. No way would this man be included on my team of excellence that continue to keep me alive and fighting.

I should have realized he was going to be a joke. But being in health care, one expects at least SOMETHING from a specialist. And that expectation would be wasted here.

At the onset we knew it was fishy when they required CASH ONLY UPFRONT. I did just say that: CASH. And the receptionist (possibly nurse?) was so out of sorts and mumbling "well crap" over a missing chart or something as I checked in. She was very friendly, but very untidy and unprofessional.

She took us back to the nasty exam room I photographed, but words fall short. It was like getting punked. I couldn't imagine my referring doctor had ever been here to see it. So I shared these photos with my primary doctor and my oncologist. I was immediately referred elsewhere.

But, back to the nightmare of showing up here. The nurse walked in, peeled off the dirty paper on the exam table, while saying "Let me just grab a blood pressure and weight, he doesn't do pulse and all that". This was hint 3 or 4 on the "we just don't care" attitude of the place and those within it's walls.

So, did I mention the sink had NO soap, or dispenser of any kind? This can be said for the entire room. No washing hands, and no gloves available. Totally creeped out now, she says the doctor will be right in and my spouse says "LET'S GO." But I had to wait 2 weeks to come and am having some issues that my oncologist feels need to be addressed by an endocrinologist. I NEEDED the tests they asked for.

So here he came and stood between us. We sat on opposite walls, facing each other. He came and stood at the counter and made comments like "let's see know, how does this work?" at something on his lap top. He clearly had NEVER read my file. But he never asked to examine me, and he NEVER sat down on our level. He stood above us and said the most ridiculous things. I will only quote one of them. It sums up the whole visit: "Frankly I don't care why your blood pressure is dropping". He explained that they had given me a steroid, and I should keep taking it. He realized the oncologists wanted to know WHY it was happening but he didn't see any reason to run any tests. I asked him to clarify that he didn't want to order the tests my oncologist wanted. Yes, that was it. I was free to leave. This cost me $30.00 CASH! copay. (Cancer patients need every penny this wasted visit was crazy).

I notified my health team, was referred to another endocrinologist who happens to be AMAZING. She immediately ordered eleven tests. She cares. The basic requirement one should expect from a doctor.

A few days ago I was in the ER for this issue. They cared very much. I am going to get help. But this waste of my time was disturbing. I had to show the photos again.

Please avoid the possibility of going to this office. The doctor could simply care less.
The staff at the office is horrible! You aren't seen on time ever. They over book. I was told they would have my results for my first appointment. They did not then blamed it on me for not having. The 2 office girls are RUDE and never know the answers to any of my questions. To top it off they don't take credit cards. Only cash or checks.
I am giving Dr Punim a 2 star rating. Dr Punim has a terrible staff. The staff is unfamiliar with insurance plans , they are not on top of the latest lab results. They ca not expect a patient to pay for services without providing a bill. Also as his patient Dr Punim did not pay attention to my recent lab works. even though I called his front office to notify them the lab work was an old one from a different doctor. Their lack of attention and dismissing a patient without having facts made me end up in ER. I went to him and drove 130 miles round trip and the level of service I received was very disappointing. Dr Punim needs to have a staff that are experts and also that they are giving him the correct information. I feel I was dismissed from hi care as a patient and that gores against every ethical oath a physician takes. Being in a health care industry I will never refer anyone to this physician.
Don't go to this doctor. Just, don't do it. So many reasons, here's only a few: 1. He makes you come in for an appointment to give results...even when they are all normal. He will not give them over the phone. I'm assuming this is so he can make more money and collect more co payments. 2. He only takes cash or check, there is no credit card machine. Who doesn't take credit cards these days? Oh...someone who is too cheap to pay the fee. 3. He literally doesn't even look at you during the appointment. He is on the computer the entire time. Then, my own personal reason that prompted me to write this review.... My last appointment there, before I finally decided to get a new Endocrinologist (I only saw him 3 times), they charged me for my co payment of $30. I paid it via check (this was in 2014). Never heard from them again until the end of February 2016 when I received a letter from a collection agency for $23.91. When I called the office, I was told that I owed a copayment for an appointment back in 2014. When didn't I pay the copayment? It didn't make any sense to me and I never received a bill from the office. The receptionist told me to send them the check for $20 and they will cancel the collection company. Still questioning if I actually owed them money, I sent the check...figuring it isn't worth $20 to be in collections. About a week later, I call the office asking for a receipt and was told that the doctor told her to send the check to the collection company. This doctor literally said that he will not help and told the receptionist not to talk to me or help me. He didn't want her to even return my call!! The receptionist said that she sent three bills to me....none of which I received. Not one. It turns out THEY charged me incorrectly when they collected my co payment, then "billed" me for the rest later, when they figured out their mistake. Only, I never actually got a bill....remember this is 2 years ago! On a side note, I feel like the receptionist was trying to help me as much as she was allowed. The agency did cash my check (which is weird, because it was made out to Dr. Punim), so I called them and was told that my account is closed, they accepted the $20 check and will not be reporting it to my credit. Save yourself some time, money and headache and pick a different doctor!!
I'm giving Dr. Punim 3 stars instead of 4 due to the horrible office staff. I know the review is supposed to reflect the doctor; however, I have personally explained my concerns to the doctor and he was dismissive. (More on that in a moment.)

I've been seeing Dr. Punim for many years now and I find him a very competent endocrinologist. I think he can be quick to rely on traditional approaches and his "tried and true" when my own research has suggested there are more recent developments that can be considered. I feel I am able to openly communicate with him regarding my concerns and he takes them into consideration.

In regard to the comments that he spends his entire time on the computer, that's true. Though I caution anyone who judges this too stringently: he takes copious notes regarding the patients concerns, treatments, and symptoms. His time on the computer is his way of efficiently managing YOUR care. Many doctors do not take good notes or rely on remembering at the end of the day to update patients records. He updates your record in the moment, which is highly valuable. Often he pulls information from months or years before to take into consideration in the present moment. If you are the type of person that needs someone to look at you while your are having a conversation (and there are people that need this in order to process information), it is my feeling that it is your personal responsibility to communicate that to your doctor.

Additionally, on that little computer of his, he fills prescriptions immediately to the pharmacy of your choice, which are often ready BEFORE I even leave the office. Labs, tests, and results are always sent to my other doctors in a timely fashion. I appreciate this immensely.

Complaints
Mostly regarding the office. Despite always having an appointment, I have never waited in the lobby for LESS than 30 minutes. A 45 minute wait is normal. They over book as a practice in my opinion. There are two front office workers that have been there for years, and I have witnessed them rudely speaking to patients on the phone, discussing personal, securityrelated details (i.e.: social security numbers, addresses, etc.), sensitive medical details that include the patient's first and last name, and other offensive behaviors. I have personally been given my receipt printed on the back of another patient's lab results, complete with name, address, phone number, insurance information and social security number. (Sadly, when I brought this to Dr. Punim's attention, he just said he would talk to them about it, ripped the paper up and threw it in the trash in the exam room.) So I do have serious concerns as to how my own personal information is treated. Additionally, they only accept cash and check with the nearest ATM in the hospital next store. It is there prerogative, though I find it annoying.

Final Thoughts
If you are looking for a doctor who has a lot of experience, is well respected in the local medical community by other doctors, and has a traditional approach, Dr. Punim is for you (if you have patience and can tolerate the office staff). If you are searching for a progressive doctor that is not going to possibly retire in the next 510 (?) years and is up to date on all the latest developments, you may want to look elsewhere.
I felt like my visit was unnecessary, he was on his laptop the whole time. I could of just gone on webMD and got the same results. Not to mention I paid my outstanding co pay 2 months ago and I have bill collectors calling me about my bill, they are rude and accused me of not paying.. Worst office ever.
Without question, the most rude encounter I have EVER had with ANY doctor's staff, in ANY office!

I am a retired police officer and I can tell you that I pride myself on customer service and treating people with dignity and respect...until there is a reason to treat someone otherwise. That said, from the moment I entered Dr. Punim's office, he had two girls at the reception desk that could've gave a crap about a greeting of any kind.

Next, I finally got their attention by standing at the front counter long enough to where they were forced to acknowledge my presence. The greeting was, "Yes?" Unbelievable! I followed with the usual conversation that checks oneself in to a doctor's office and then offered my credit/debit card to satisfy my copay.

One of the receptionists stated, "We don't take credit cards here...cash or check only!" I would add that she was extremely rude about it. I responded, "No one told me that when I booked my appointment and I don't carry a checkbook around, so can you guys bill me?" "No, but you can go down stairs and go to the ATM across the street where you can get the money and then come back for your appointment," she responded! I reiterated, "Can't you bill me or provide me with an envelope or address so I can send the money by mail?" Can you say I was floored when she responded in an incredibly terse and what can only be described as rude, dismissive and angry voice, "Sure, but are you going to mail the check today?" It was reminiscent of a snotty, 12 year old that wanted her way and was going to get it...and that meant the answer only she wanted to hear. So, I finally asked, "Is there a reason that you're being so rude...have I done something wrong to offend you, or have I been rude in some manner to treat a patient in such a fashion?" Just as snotty as prior, she tersely responded, "No, I just want to make sure that your going to send the payment today!"

This progressively got worse, as I cornered her on proper respect for ANYONE, let alone a patient of the doctor, for which she was in his employ. Unaccordlinly, she offered no apologies and stepped up her assholeness! I finally blew my stack and told her that if she were a man, I'd probably punch her in the face, because that's the only way to take back my dignity for such an insulting encounter!

At the time of this incident, make no doubt that Dr. Punim was in his office directly adjacent to the receptionist desk, and he never emerged to intervene in any manner. For me, that clearly conveys a message that this is a doctor who cares nothing for his patients, whatsoever, elsewise, he would have exited his office and disciplined his staff immediately. Instead, he pulled the proverbial "head in the sand" routine and never emerged to solve the situation and most importantly, retain his patient's business and save face for all the other patients waiting in waitingroom. How incredibly sad! What an Ahole!

So, I translate this as being tantamount to his level of concern for his patients. If a doctor would, can, and did, allow his staff to treat his patient in such a manner as I was treated and wanted to do nothing to make amends, rectify the situation, or even apologize to me and assure me that his staff would be disciplined for such an outrage, then this is a doctor "I DO NOT WANT TO SEE!"

Folks, he's rated the way he is for a reason. Also, consider this if you didn't know: Most specialists like Dr. Punim, make upwards of $400500k. It's pretty said in the year 2014 that a doctor is so niggardly as to worry about a small percentage fee for the use of a credit/debit card that he inconveniences his patients to such a degree. Something to think about in regards to his TRUE concern for the level of care that he might provide???
Called Monday to schedule an appointment, asked to refill my synthroid that i am out of. Was given an appointment, told I could pay my bill at that time and the Dr could give me a 2 week courtesy refill. Called again today to see if he had approved my prescription and was told I was no longer a patient. Now i have to wait another week, without meds until i can get an appointment with a new doctor.
If I could give a negative review...I would based on the staff! In the past year and a half when I have had my blood pressure taken I have been told it's high. I am borderline hypertensive. The only time I have perfect blood pressure is when I visiT Dr Punims office. It's ALWAYS 120/80. That's impossible! I let them AND the Dr know that I haven't had perfect
Blood pressure like that in a while and no one bothers to check it! I observe the "nurse" or "MA" or whatever she is take the pressure and it's impossible to take blood pressure that quickly! My concern is for someone who only goes to this office. They will never know if they have high blood pressure! I am currently seeking another endocrinologist in my area. I need a doctor that looks at me when he's talking, not at the computer screen! Very rude and incompetent staff! It would make a huge difference for the doctor to hire more competent people!
I had an appointment scheduled and the MA asked me if I wanted to reschedule because there will be a 45 minute wait. Wow. How rude. It's not my fault they overbooked. Some people work and need to take time off. The doctor is nice but he needs to hire more competent and courteous staff.
Worst doctor ever. He cares more for the bottom line than for the patient. He even has his staff attach your payment to your chart before he will see you. I went to him for several months and found him to be allof and condesending. There are much better endocrinologists out there than this guy. Dont waste your time with him, find someone who will listen to you.
Dr Punim is great. I've been going to him for 18 years and he is so knowledgable and patience with your health. He is amazing and really cares. His office is small and he is pretty good on keeping his appointment times.
