Gerald Schultz's Online Review Report Card

I was sent to Dr Shultz's office by the VA for an eye exam and the whole experience was awful, I felt like I needed a hazmat suit just being in their filthy office. l have several issues I'd wanted checked and was told by Dr Shultz to just go to the 99¢ store for my glasses. When questioned about my cataracts, he said I didn't have them but if I went to enough doctor's I'd find someone to do the surgery!? He wouldn't answer any of my questions but had no problem asking me personal, irrelevant questions about my life. When the "exam" was completed he insisted I sit in the chair and wait until he finished his paperwork, there's definitely something wrong with that man. I told him I'm 62yo so I believe I'll be in the waiting room and your assistant can bring it to me. I will be reporting this office and Dr Shultz to the state of California Optometry Board and the BBB. FYI, that's a very old picture of him...he graduated medical school in 1963!

This man needs to retire. My brother was in an accident that left him with blurry vision so Dr Schultz was asked to see him in the ER. He arrived right after my brother was taken for a scan. This man had a melt-down in the hallway in front of the nurse station. "I was on my way home! He can come to my office (this was late Friday night so he couldn't come in until Monday at the earliest). Does he even have an referral?" He berated several staff members and then loudly slurped down a yogurt without a spoon as he walked up and down the hallway. He did eventually go to radiology and saw my brother and then came to his exam room. He re-examined my brother's eyes WITHOUT GLOVES DURING A PANDEMIC. So when he said "come to my office but make sure you have a referral first" I told him we WOULD NOT be following up with him. He just stood there and stared at me. Dr Schultz should retire. He doesn't have the minimal quota of empathy or concern for the vision of Eisenhower's ER patients. His concern was for his fees. I realize we are (hopefully) on the downside of Covid but he didn't use preexisting universal precautions standards before touching my brother's face/eyes. He didn't even wash his hands first! So, no thank you, we will not be following up with him but will go back to the VA's ophthalmologist who has previously seen my brother. If you care about your or your loved one's vision either find another provider or make sure the doctor at least follows standard precautions. Oh, and be sure to have your money/referral/authorizations solidity in place bc THAT is what seems most important to him.

Dr. Schultz did cataract surgery on both of my eyes. I am very pleased with the outcome. He is very busy. He has moved his office, and the wait time is now shorter. His skill as a physician and surgeon is what mattered most to me.

Terrible. Hour and a half wait. He's in my network so visit should of only cost $30 but the office failed to enter the necessary info to my insurance in a timely fashion so the insurance refused to pay and his office sent me a bill. Luckily, the insurance states this so I will not be paying the bill. Stay away from this office!

There is no better eye doctor than Dr. Gerald R. Shultz world wide...just now had gotten cactus 🌵 in my eye and after going to urgent care since dr.'s office was closed..urgent care sent me to Palm Springs hospital, which didn't get it right...was able to see Dr. Shultz next morning to treat me and finally getting healed and the correct treatment. Thank you so much dr. You are truly an asset to the desert community. Have been going to dr for years and my husband and I have both gotten our cataract surgery years ago with 100% satisfaction.

He is a busy doctor but once you are in he makes sure you are well taken care of.
