Dr. Coyer’s office is terrible with paperwork! I had to wait for 2 months to get the MRI I needed because his office kept making errors on approvals for service. I wasted work day sick leave to get it done on a day his office staff promised, all paperwork was correct and complete—come to find out No paperwork had been sent! I was left waiting for 2+ hours texting and calling a non responsive office! Not worth it—we pay too much for such awful service!
Dr. Coyer is the best podiatrist in town. I waited over 2 months to get an appt with Dr. Michael Hattan. What a terrible terrible experience. An absolute ass who would't let me speak and share my history. He blabbers on about his personal woes and family issues.(Psst... we don't want to know about your troubled kids, although I don't understand the dirty laundry being spat to just anybody). Just kind of an arrogant inflated ego in scrubs. Multiple times I heard him bullying his staff in the hallways and office. So off-putting and a waste of time having waited for an appointment just to see him for 15 minutes. After leaving Dr. Hattan's office, feeling disregarded, I heard about Dr. Coyer. His staff was able to get me in asap as I was only in for a trip from San Francisco and had to leave soon. He was the absolute opposite of my other sour experience. He was gentle, kind, patient and evidently, extremely knowledgeable. I received more information, support and help in my first consult with Dr. Coyer than I did during my years of struggle with a long battle against my chronic issues. It's going to be a long recovery, but I feel safe in his hands. I would not look elsewhere for any podiatry issues.
Too busy to help a potential patient. Called a couple of times only to keep getting an answering service and placed on hold for three minutes during work hours. Such a disappointment. I will drive a little further to another group with more positive ratings.
Doctor Micheal Coyer is as strong as oak as far as Podiatrists comes. He is friendly, understanding, and according to all of the feedback I received from other employees at Hoag thorough. You want your Doctor, Lawyer, and CPA to be though. Trust. My treatment is ongoing but I feel confident enough to write a review after experiencing his care twice now. I wouldnt want any other Podiatrist in Orange County and he serves Newport Beach, Irvine, and Huntington Beach so chances are you live close to one of the medical campuses he practices at. His staff are also very helpful, kind, and efficient. In fact, I dont think I have waited for him more than five minutes on either visit and I appreciate professionals who value my time This may his most impressive attribute. The only compliant I can muster is the appointment scheduling system they use if text based and wonky if not all together frustrating. I would prefer if someone just answered the phone but i am willing to go through the hassle to continue to see Doctor Coyer until I am back to one hundred. Highly recommend.

Excellent surgeon, the very best. Caring and informative. This is who you want to go for your foot and ankle issues.
I am in charge of taking my 86 year old mother, who has pretty severe dementia, to her many doctor appointments. She had a recurring infection in her toe and went to 2 other podiatrists that made the situation much worse. One of them even caused a secondary infection. We finally landed in Dr. Coyer's office and what a great surprise. He is so caring and so great at communicating clearly with my mom in a way she can understand and has been seeing her weekly and referring her to secondary doctors to find underlying causes. I love that despite her age and condition he is trying everything in his power to solve this mystery of the infection. He seems to truly care about his patients.
I have never written a bad yelp review, but felt the need to tell others NOT to see this doctor. In health care myself as a nurse for over 20 years, I would NOT recommend him. Went to him for a simple procedure which has yielded a painful, swollen, tender foot for months now. The post procedure "instructions" were minimal, remove a regular gauze dressing from a bleeding area (after the blood had dried) and clean the area. This sounds ok at first, but the gauze he put on the area was regular, and not nonstick. I mentioned that it would a good idea to use a NON stick dressing on a foot that was bleeding, which he ignored. You can only imagine how painful it was to remove nonstick gauze with dried blood from an open area that night, and clean the area. Told me before the procedure I would be up and doing normal activities within 4 days, it was more like 4 weeks. I still cannot put a regular shoe on my foot without pain. Cut a nail in such haste, it was chopped, irregular, jagged. The whole visit was extremely rushed, and a horrible experience. After repeated calls to the office post procedure and being told all of the pain, swelling, tenderness was "normal" I gave up, as obviously it is not normal, so now I have a new doctor who will help me recover. DO NOT go to this doctor.
My consult with Dr. Coyer for nagging ankle ligament pain went well. Dr. Coyer recommended some terrific therapies like orthotics, targeted stretching, and heat and ice treatment all of which combined have helped immensely.

Dr. Coyer is an affable, empathic, and thoughtful podiatrist whose respect for patients is obvious. The spacious and immaculate Irvine office is comfortable and soothing. Office staff is attentive and a joy to work with.
Dr. Coyer is an excellent surgeon with great bedside manner! Went in with 4 ingrown toe nails. Excellent result, very fast recovery. No pain!
The office staff was professional, efficient, and friendly. Highly recommend!

Went to Dr. Coyer for removal of a splinter, so I clearly didn't test the limits of his medical skills. (He did manage to complete the task.) But I can clearly attest, as so many other reviewers have, to his pleasant and friendly manner and clear desire to provide aid to his patients. I wouldn't hesitate to return should I experience any other type of foot problem in the future.
I met with Dr. Coyer last Monday for what he didn't know was a second opinion. First doctor had told me I needed surgery on a tailor's bunion. I asked Dr. Coyer if my foot looked funky and he said if it wasn't hurting don't let anyone touch it with a 10ft. pole. I wanted to hug him and appreciated his reasoning and some other info he gave me. He shaved down 3 little callused areas that were causing me pain off and on that were on the bottom of my feet and basically I was pain free! Yeah!!! I would HIGHLY recommend him to all of my friends and family in a heartbeat! Plus he was so easy to talk to and loved his upbeat attitude! His staff was great too!
Dr. Coyer did an amazing job, I have been to him twice. He will explain the whole procedure and makes sure you are comfortable.
I was able to get an appointment the same week I called in and when I arrived I was seen right on time and the staff was friendly and courteous. Dr. Coyer didn't rush my appointment. He explained everything thoroughly and answered all my questions. He was knowledgeable and I left with a satisfying follow-up plan. I would highly recommend Dr. Coyer and his staff.
Shout out to Dr. Coyer such a great doctor that really helped me feel better. The procedure Dr. Coyer performed on my left foot eliminated my pain and enabled me to resume my fitness routine. I am very grateful and highly recommend Dr. Coyer to new patients.
What a great visit. Dr. Michael Coyer was great to work with. He was honest and gave me tools to help with the issue I am having with my toenail being in pain from wearing heels so often. He was a great listener, responded in a polite and professional manner. I left feeling better educated and confident I could salvage my toenail with the advice given before having to have it removed. Thank you for the genuinely kind and pleasant learning experience. I would recommend you to anyone needing a podiatrist...but dont want to give away the secret foot gem.
Dr. Coyer makes you feel comfortable right away as I did during my first visit. He listens, takes time to explain your options, and also responds to questions in a nice direct way. He also has a sense of humour, which I don't see in a lot of medical professionals. As a patient, you don't feel ignorant when talking to him. You feel your concerns regarding your treatment matter. He took the time to calm me down when I was in pain (as expected) after my first treatment, and I appreciated that he didn't leave the room until I was really okay. Some doctors tell you, "... all done! You're going to be fine...", give tips, then leave the room without really making sure that you are indeed okay. I've been coming to him since, and hope he remains in my medical plan so he stays my doctor! Kudos also to his assistant (Frank?) who kept reassuring me when he saw I was nervous prior to the treatments. Thanks Dr. Coyer for good attitude, and putting us at ease!
Where should I start? A fantastic doctor.
Dr. Coyer takes the time to evaluate the concern and listens attentively while providing a full spectrum of treatment options and advice. As a first timer to the foot problem arena, Dr. Coyer explained the condition that he found me to have, plantar fasciitis, and explained the needed therapy and insole/shoe recommendations available. I thank Dr. Coyer for his great personality, professionalism and expertise and have faith that his treatment recommendations will have positive results. The entire office staff have great attitudes with a very positive and helpful flavor. I highly recommend Dr. Coyer anr his staff if you have any podiatry needs. A plus office!
Thanks!
