Colleen Coleman's Online Review Report Card

Dr. Coleman did my partial thyroidectomy. She was wonderful. As I understand it, although a general surgeon, her practice mainly focuses on thyroid and breast surgery. Her office is well run, the wait time to schedule and then see the doctor once you are there is much shorter than with other surgeons. She has excellent demeanor and communication skills and appeared much more thorough in her pre surgery assessment than other doctors I met with. After meeting with her I felt well briefed on what to expect. No surprises. She told it like it was. Other surgeons I met with struck me as overworked, scattered and hard to reach. They didn't properly explain what to expect. Also, I'm not a fan of an ear nose and throat doctor performing this surgery. I'd rather go with a general surgeon who's doing this all the time, not just some of the time. Practice indeed makes perfect. Even when busy, you can tell Dr. Coleman focuses on the patient in front of her. She appears very grounded and practical in her approach. Post surgery she personally contacted me at home. My recovery was text book. A bonus: post surgery scar is surprisingly minimal. I feel really lucky she was the physician performing this surgery. I would encourage others to meet with her when choosing a surgeon for a thyroid procedure.

Dr. Coleman was personable and had already looked through my previous procedures so she was prepared for my appointment. Even though the problem didn't appear to be gall stones, (recently diagnosed) she had a booklet on that organ she went over with me. She gave me what I needed, a description of the discomfort I would feel and where if my gall stones did start presenting a problem. I was relieved to know what to expect and how to handle it when, or if, it does happen. Very pleased with this first visit & I am thrilled to know who to go to if I need this type of help.

Dr. Coleman performed a near-total thyroidectomy on my daughter in 2003. When my daughter also had to have her gallbladder removed in 2011, I was very glad to that Dr. Coleman was going to perform that surgery. We have a lot of confidence in her skills; she is an excellent surgeon and doctor. She explains each procedure thoroughly, so we knew what to expect during and after the procedures. Dr. Coleman cares about her patients and she follows up with the patient after recovery to make sure they are doing well and to make any recommendations.

I went to Dr Coleman for a second opinion regarding breast cancer. She spent an hour with me explaining in detail about the procedure and potential results and treatment. This was after my first consultation which was less than fifteen minutes! She also calls to talk to you before and after surgery. I can’t say enough about what a wonderful, caring doctor she is! If I could give her ten stars, I would.

Dr. Coleman sat down next to me and explained everything, from blood results through surgical procedure. She took the time to make sure I understood and pushed through necessary orders so my procedure could be schedule right after my appointment. Her staff was friendly, helpful, and I did not feel rushed.

We were absolutely terrified at first, but knew we were in good hands. Dr. Coleman spends the necessary time with her patients and often has to deliver difficult news, so there can be a wait. Must surgeons would just rush you through. Getting through this surgery was of course emotionally and physically demanding, so this was important. The surgery went smoothly. Dr. Coleman set us up with an oncologist and endocrinologist whom are also each at the top of their game. Nine months post-operation, my wife's cancer is under control due to Dr. Coleman's follow-ups. High-dose radiation took care of the thyroid cancer in her lungs, which is showing no signs of recurring, and the slim surgical scar across her neck is fading fast. Dr Coleman's skill is evident in how faint the scar is and continues

Dr. Coleman is an outstanding skilled surgeon. She explained in great detail my condition and necessary procedures in a way that I could understand. She is patient, kind and compassionate. I never felt rushed during appointments and felt I was important to her. I can't say enough good things about her.
