Daniel C. Kline's Online Review Report Card

I have been a patient of Dr Kline for 12 years. He is the BEST , I would not allow anybody else to touch my eyes . He is kind, smart, professional , knowledgeable , experienced , very thorough, totally AWSOME . I can’t say enough about Dr Kline and his team .

I just completed successful cataract surgery and I would like to thank Dr. Kline and his lovely staff for their expertise, experience, and compassion. When I first visited Dr. Kline, the vision in both of my eyes was so poor I had trouble seeing almost anything clearly. I'm happy to say that not only can I see, but I see the best that I ever have. Colors are vivid, lines are crystal-clear, and absolutely everything is in sharp focus. In fact, I had a lot of fun flushing my contact lenses right down the toilet! I greatly appreciate Dr. Kline's kindness, as well. I'm a bit of a scaredy-cat but he assured me I would be fine. I'm actually more than fine. Thanks, Dr. Kline!

I had cataract surgery this year on both eyes in succession. I elected to get the multi focal implants that added over $10,000 out of pocket above and beyond what Medicare and my Medigap Insurance paid. The surgery center tacked on another $1500 above and beyond which I had to pay out of pocket. Part of the $10000 included $2000 for laser surgery to soften one of my cataracts which Medicare doesn't cover. I could have done the surgery without the laser but I would have felt pretty stupid if something went wrong and I could have avoided it all by spending $2000. Hey, it's your eyes! Although the prices seem high, I was made fully aware of what the costs were and it was my choice to go with top of the line multi focal rather than single or mono vision. One thing that I do take issue with is that I was required to buy a bag from them that included the antibiotic eye drops I used throughout both surgeries. It cost $125 and also contained vitamins which I tossed along with eye protectors which the surgery center already provided. I was unable to apply that amount against my medical or drug insurance because there was no 'code' for it. I'm sure I could have gotten the eyedrops from CVS if I had the opportunity. Overall I am happy with the results. I recommend multi focal and believe they lived up to my expectations based upon researching my options. Dr. Kline does good work and I had no complications. Office visits were satisfactory but would have been better if I didn't have to wait over 30 minutes to be seen every time.

Dr. Kline called me last week and apologized for my experience. He expedited my contacts fitting so I didn't need to see Dr. Suen again and arranged for the optician to do a phone consult. He was really sincere and I was really appreciative of his time. He took several attempts to contact me. Unfortunately, the optician incorrectly overcharged me and I had to spend a bit more time to ensure the charge was voided. She was great about owning the mistake but just not quite the experience overall that I wanted. I don't think this is the practice for me and sincerely hope others have a better experience than I did.

I have been to this office twice now. Once was last week as I was having a hard time with my night vision- I spent 2.5 hours there and Dr. Suen told me it was likely due to an astigmatism. I took the fact that they saw me as an emergency visit and thus I had to spend 2.5 hours there. The front desk receptionist was super kind and even came to talk to me 1:1 as I was concerned I wasn't seeing Dr. Kline(stating he was there and if there was an issue that he could consult). I came to this office as my mom sees Dr. Kine. Dr. Suen definitely had attitude(didn't say my name or acknowledge me as a human) and was literally running out of the door but did answer my questions as I was super concerned. She told me that this was a medical visit and I'd have to come back to get a contacts/glass prescription but it wouldn't take long to schedule or duration. Fast forward to today- I waited 70 minutes and Dr. Suen was just rude and didn't have the ability to say my name or apologize/acknowledge that I'd been waiting. No awareness of seeing me last week and zero compassion for anything- asked about my halos(like it was brand new information and asked what they were like- shouldn't you know that from your notes) and I said I could reference the picture(clearly your handwritten notes aren't applicable from the 2.5 hour visit last time). Then, she did say she remembered after I called out that I had shown her the picture. She proceeded to pull the wrong box of contacts with an entirely different prescription which didn't really make feel at ease as a patient. When I asked what my prescription was she took her own cool time writing her handwritten notes and told me. I guess I just expect her to share that information with me readily and not act like it's an inconvenience to share? After her terse checkup and questioning me about my Costco contacts ( I wasn't trying to get Costco contacst/nobody told me to bring in the box)and if I wanted dailies vs. two weeks- I finally told her how rude and quite obnoxious this whole office visit was. She said thank you for the feedback- did not apologize at all, made zero effort to talk to me as a person during the exam or even after, and then asked if the assistants said my name. Apparently, she isn't aware of how to treat people like humans. And continued to treat me like I was a cog in the wheel of her huge ego. Take Aways: (I'll write a review AGAIN for my follow up and I did try to change it as i'd love to never see Dr. Suen again but they told me I can't change it.) -It is asinine to treat people like a cattle herd (waiting for 70 minutes in the lobby)where there's a sign that says they care and you can wait in your car(but alas the receptionist says they don't do that anymore). Change your sign then! - Dr. Kline seems to only care about numbers and does not care that I was a referral and receptionists stated the only way to leave feedback is on a Yelp review. I wanted to let him know my experience but they said the best way is to do it via a Yelp review. - Dr. Suen gave me the wrong contact and perhaps her ego is just too much as instead of saying, "Oh, my mistake." She just replied, "Oh good catch. Thank you." -The receptionist charged me the biggest copay I've ever paid- I contacted my insurance as it is incorrect and they will deal with that. The receptionist was also extremely rude and acted like I was asking too much when asking for clarification for payment and my next appointment time. She was so flustered when Dr. Kline appeared that she said, "Oh, I told you the date." She did not- nor did she provide any confirmation until I asked and was in an insane hurry but quick on the draw to get my credit card. Perhaps everyone in the office should reevaluate how to treat people in general. A smile, politeness, learning the correct pronunciation of one's name and stating if you will be seeing an OD or an MD when making an appointment should be on the list. Obviously, we will not be returning especially my mother. Lastly, perhaps not announce or talk about other patient's medical issues in the cattle call lobby. That is really against all HIPPA and so wrong. I hope people stay far away from this place as it is really a sad environment and you can go to any other practice and be treated better! I wish I had gone back to Costco for my contacts lens exam- would have been way more efficient and treated with decency.

I am very nearsighted, with macular degeneration in my right eye. Previously, I have always been afraid of undergoing cataract surgery because of the limited benefits and the additional risk due to my eye's condition. Meeting with Dr. Kline changed my mind. His expertise gave me the confidence to go ahead with the surgery. It ended up going very smoothly and my vision has improved greatly. I am very grateful to Dr. Kline and his surgery coordinator Sandy for addressing my concerns and seeing to my needs. Whenever I had questions, they always responded promptly. Dr. Kline even called me the day before he left for vacation to answer my questions. Dr. Kline is very kind, thorough, and professional. I strongly recommend Dr. Kline for anyone in need of eye care！

I am a 76 year old retired physician with type 2 diabetes and polyneuropathy. I was going blind from my over mature cataracts that many ophthalmologists were too afraid to remove because they considered me to be an extreme risk for the surgical procedure. At this point, my vision was progressively worsening where even the strongest glasses were of no value. Fortunately, I was able to to see the finest and most thorough ophthalmologist in Dr. Daniel Kline. After his very thorough and comprehensive evaluation he was able to schedule the surgery to remove my cataracts and implant a intra ocular prosthetic lens. His office, the surgical center and all employees were so thorough, empathetic, and genuinely concerned for my well being and surgical success. I now can see better and clearer than my childhood years. I can't say enough about Dr. Kline's overall superiority, medical excellence, and overall care he delivered. He is a doctor's doctor and ophthalmologist's ophthalmologist !! He is, by far, the finest, if not the best, ophthalmologist in our country. His office is also excellent with genuine concern for any and all problems you may have with your eyes. My family and I continue to go to OC Eyes Assoc. But lately there is this lady name Elizabeth who works in the front desk who a few months ago sounded rude and short with me. She talked to me like she just wanted to get off the phone with me. At that time I thought "well, maybe because of Covid and short staffed she was stressed out". However, 3 days ago, she was also rude, short and abrupt to my husband who called to ask to reschedule. The office manager, Sandy, called my husband to apologize. And told him "not to make any excuses for her but Dr. Driver IS busy." You called this an excuse for her bad behavior? Because the doctor is extremely busy, it somehow made Elizabeth be short and rude? Is this even a valid excuse? How about 2 months ago when Elizabeth was short, rude &abrupt with me? What was her excuse then? She made it sound like it's by chance Elizabeth is rude. But what I think is ELIZABETH is almost always RUDE based on our multiple interactions with her. Because of ELIZABETH, I am removing ONE star....and really I should remove another one because of the nonsense excuse Sandy made on her behalf! But because I know most of the staff and doctors there are very nice & professional, I will rate it 4 stars. I LOVE Skye, Lourdes, and Dr. Hoang. Dr. Hoang is the most patient doctor I ever met! Even though I keep asking her the same question again & again, she respectfully and graciously still explains to me! The few other front desk ladies were nice too.Just beware of ELIZABETH!!! If you caught her in a bad mood, she will treat you the same way!!!

Dr. Kline and his team are awesome - my surgery was done a year ago and was life changing. Couldn't more highly recommend them.
