As I look back on my review of David A Brown school I realized I didn't write enough information about the middle school but rather explained my daughters situation and I just wanted to add a little more that might be helpful. there are 3538 students per classroom, I believe that's pretty standard for public school these days. My daughter loved her choir teacher, I can't remember her name but that teacher was the only positive memory of the school. The communication between teachers and parents is almost non existent. There were no notices given or extra help offered to help with grades which causes the student to fall behind and struggle through the class. When we were having the bullying issues I went to the office to try to get help with it and no one seemed to know how to help or where to direct me. I was there 3 times within 2 weeks waiting on any staff member just to speak to me and trying to look for the principal for a meeting, which never happened. The only person I was allowed to speak to was a counselors assistant. The bully girl was never reprimanded. I asked for a meeting between myself, the bully and her parents and they said that would not be allowed. My husband tried to call the superintendent of the district to get advice and direction and the woman was absolutely no help and seemed to be annoyed with the conversation. They do not take bullying seriously at this school. There are constant physical fights between students. Lots of gossiping and intimidation amongst the kids. This middle school does not provide a safe, encouraging, learning environment. I would steer clear of this school and if possible look at other options.
I'm a 8th grade student and they made us go to school when there's a fire about five miles away and there's ash coming down on our school, our PE teachers Mr. Broadbent and Mrs. Dillion, are very nice and went up to the office telling them to end school because of the ash, but the school refused because education is more important that health. So yeah, that's my post
