Francis Chang's Online Review Report Card

Poor bedside manner and not sure if he likes his job

Dr. Chang was the best doctor I could have asked for. The doctor I had with my first child no longer took my insurance when I was pregnant with my second child, and I was so upset about it. But then when I met Dr. Chang for the first time, I couldn't have been any happier. He was so caring and always available to answer any questions or concerns. He is by far the best doctor I've ever had.

Important Update: Dr. Chang retired due to personal health issues. I love him and still miss him, but if people are wondering why the practice closed, that's the reason.

Strange...Dr. Chang disappeared this exact same way from his DTLA location on flower st about 7 years ago. I had a miscarriage 7 yrs ago where development stopped at 10 weeks. I had to have a DNC procedure at 14 weeks when we found out there was no longer a heartbeat. 4 days after the procedure I ended up in urgent care. Shortly after my experience at [Avida Womens Clinic 810 S. Flower St. Suite 204], his entire office/practice closed and I later found out he was working in Irvine. I tried to call to get a followup appt in Irvine after explaining my situation, and they office/Dr. Chang never returned my calls (yes, tried to get appointments multiple times and it was like they were blocking me because I was a past patient) I went back into my yelp to remember the name of the doctor to give a conplete history to my new obgyn, I saw a few ofnthe current reviews saying the same thing has now happened in Irvine. SUSPECT. HIGHLY suspicious. THOUGHTS: 1) is he in witness protection and has to leave suddenly for his/His families safety or 2) is he avoiding some shady malpratice type actions?? Got me questioning my entire experience 7 yrs ago....like was their really no heartbeat...did I really need a DNC...did something go wrong during that procedure which landed me in urgent care shortly after and was a turning point in a landslide of menstural related complications and issues since then!?!? DF is going on here

What the heck Dr Chang?!! You left all your patients in the lurch. No letter, no phone call... just left without any notification at all.

Dr Chang is the best doctor I've ever met and I've worked with several. He was always involved in my care during my entire pregnancy. He was so good in answering all my questions especially as a first time mom everything was so new to me. I had some complications in third trimester and he always went far and beyond to help me out. I am so thankful to have found such an amazing OB! I'm so sad he is not longer practicing :( and it had to happen during my postpartum period which makes it difficult when having questions. I' hope I can find another OB as great as Dr chang again!

I don't know what star rating to give this because I'm torn between him no longer being at office in Irvine, and the office not giving me information to where he's practicing now, that's if he's still practicing; also, I'm very disappointed that the office in Irvine wouldn't let me schedule an appointment with one of their other OB/GYN doctor's-they informed me that unfortunately they weren't accepting new patients, even though I told the receptionist that I'm not a new patient because I've been going to there office for a 4yrs now and they have my file. It seemed like they didn't want to be responsible or take care of the patients Dr. Chang left behind. Anyway, Dr. Chang is by far the best OB/GYN. I always felt at ease with him, and our appointments where always given in great detail; he took care of me. My appointment never felt rushed, and he was extremely gentle when procedures where done.Overall, I'm mad at the office for not allowing me to book an appointment and telling me what happened to Dr. Chang.

Dr. Chang delivered my first baby two years ago, and he's the BEST. I found out in January that I'm pregnant with my second, and when I called his Irvine office, the receptionist told me he's now working "at the hospital." I didn't really know what that meant, but my new OB's office told me he's now a laborist at Hoag Newport. Just FYI for the other moms wondering where he went. I'm still going to deliver at Hoag Newport, so fingers crossed that he's the on call doctor when I show up!

He is the best! We had our first baby in 2016 with the help of Dr. Chang and want to have our 2nd baby relic with him. But now who can tell me how to contact with Dr. Chang?

Something weird is going on. When you call the office number listed they say that he is no longer with the practice and they don't give a new number because they say he is no longer practicing at all. He is a young doctor nowhere near the age of retirement, why would he just up and abandon his patients? Very odd.
