List of Hoag Health Center Irvine - Woodbury's Reviews
Never go to this place! Their billing is out of this world! First of all, they are abnormally expensive! They would charge arm and leg for 5 minute visit for a regular flu check and send you home. Second of all, they will send three different bills from Hoag Hospital, Hoag Clinic and Radiology department and you have to call each to figure out why even if you paid you still owe them money! Never again! There are better Urgent Cares who won’t give you headache after the visit!
Wait time 2 hours although I was the only person in the lobby the whole time. Staff seems to be very incompetent as well saying she has "no idea" about anything
So I have a pre opp appointment, came in early, paid the copay, after 10 mins I get in, they take my vitals, temp, weight & height and then I wait & wait and wait48 mins now and still waiting Waiting for them to find the work order that somehow they didn't get! Or lost! No one even came in to give me any update, been communicating with both the office who scheduled the operation & the hospital getting email updates from them where the staff here is joking around and with zero f's given about their poor management, My previous experiences here I had no issues, but today's appointment was upsetting, so I would recommend if you value your time to call before your appointment and make sure they have already everything they need
Dr Horng has NOT been a good listener or show interest/care. Went in for shoulder pain and I could not move my arm upwards . Took an X-ray , he sent me to PT with an order. I asked if I should see Orthopedic and he said not necessary as of yet. 3-4 weeks in PT and no results so I went to an orthopedic , who looked at the X-ray and said my diagnosis was wrong and so was the PT. Once the PT changed my arm recovered. Went in last week for pain in upper leg/groin area . He has me do an exercise in front of him and says I need to rest and it will get better. Two days later I am in so much pain that I am unable to walk my dogs. I go back to see him and he orders an ultrasound. Turns out I have double hernia. I get my results via email. I call Next day to speak to him and am Told that I should go see a general surgeon. He doesn’t take my call to discuss my results. Nurse said he can’t help me and I need to see specialist. I’m not even sure if I should continue the pain medication he prescribed prior to ultrasound. No one has followed up.
If you really need acute medical support in a non-life threatening situation, I suggest you avoid this place and seek help at a place that doesn’t simply recommend talking to a specialist after waiting for about 90 minutes. Thumbs down.
The doctor prescribed me a $4,000 prescription cream for my skin condition. I was so upset when the pharmacist told me how much the cream cost!!
Bad patient care. Made an appt to review my results which should only take 5 mins or less. But they had me wait an hour and half. Unbelievable, will not return. Other patients were coming in and they were seeing them before me. Kept asking how much longer it will take but they kept saying i was “next” but another 30 mins would past.
It's sad to say that in a predominantly asian city such as Irvine, that I faced discrimination while walking into this Hoag. After a 30 minute drive, I had reached my appointment 5 minutes late, however, Lillian at the front desk told me that I could not be checked in and had to "reschedule or not" the choice was up to me. She made it seem like since we were 5 minutes late, the doctor had already left, when in reality, the provider came out and told us that the Dr. was busy with the patient BEFORE me. Lillian's attitude acted as if she did not care or not whether I received my appointment. On top of that, when I walked in with my mother, who is an elderly woman, Lillian told her that she could not be inside the building due to Covid-19, which is understandable, until the receptionist next to her told us that she was allowed to be in the building, just not in the doctors office at the same time as me. This made me very upset, as it was very clear she was refusing to service due to our ethnicity and nothing else after we made this appointment 3 months prior!
I am so pleased and thankful for the service I received here. Four months ago, I went to my primary care doctor when I believed I had strep throat or COVID but I tested negative for both and received no treatment. I went to two more doctors and still nothing. I hadn't been feeling like myself, and every time I interact with someone, I get them sick and I feel like I have this lingering cold or allergies. I went into this urgent care and told Dr. Chang my symptoms of headache, off and on feelings of allergies, and fever in my sleep. He immediately thought it could be another strand of strep that wasn't causing sore throat and ran a series of throat cultures in which he was correct. I felt so welcomed here and after seeing three different doctors in another state, I'm grateful to have found one that actually listened and trusted me. Thank you so much! Patience and listening to the patient is the only thing I could have asked for.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
