List of Hoag Medical Group Irvine - Sand Canyon Avenue - Pediatrics's Reviews
Turned us away because they couldn't find our insurance. Anthem Blue Cross
Love most of the doctors here especially Dr Tse and Dr Galang. 5 stars for them! Unfortunately the ladies at reception are in need of a crash course in customer service and empathy training. There's a lot lacking with their bed side manner.
We love Dr. Winkler. After going through rounds of pediatricians for a colicky baby, Dr. Winkler helped to really make me feel at ease and she listened and truly cares.
I have been going with Hoag pediatrics for many years but I would say their services has gone downhill. I always had to wait for long time on the phone to talk to someone or to schedule an appointment. I would be better off to find other primary care doctor.
Some families only want covered preventive services at a well child visit, other families come in with concerns that need uncovered services. When I brought my child in for a yearly standard well visit in October 2022, with ZERO concerns, Dr. Galang Lomboy and this office proceeded to perform two "services" without any informed consent that this would be charged as EXTRA. Not only is this surprise billing illegal especially after the No Surprises Act, there was zero consent to perform these tests. There were no concerns at all at this visit.I received a bill a few weeks after the well check for "Behavorial Assessment" $19.90 and "Pure Tone Hearing Test" $41.00 ! I have three kids and this has never happened to us before being fully insured. If any services are to be charged above the covered preventatives services, there needs to be consent!
I have been bringing my two kids to see Drs. Gan Yong and Tse since my kids were born. Both doctors are caring, compassionate, knowledgeable and extremely responsive. There's nowhere else I'd rather take my kids for their annual exams or for their all too often sick visits (except perhaps Hoag Pediatrics in Foothill Ranch). Thanks for caring for my kids as if they're your own!
If I could give this place zero stars, I would. I rarely write reviews, which shows a place has to be really bad or really good to compel me to do something. This review specifically is about Dr. Tse, Dr. Galang-Lomboy, and Dr. Singh -- DO NOT SEE THEM. They might be fine for basic check ups, but if your kid has a serious or rare illness, as I later learned mine did, they'll brush it off and keep reassuring you that your kid is fine. Dr. Singh had the nerve to accuse me of being a bad mom and overmedicating my kid; I thank god I didn't listen to her and continued to seek additional help, and I especially hope she feels horribly for learning that my child was, indeed, sick.Save yourself a lot of time, heartache, and trouble, and go to a place that is CHOC-affiliated (I'm currently at Seaview Pediatrics, and the pediatrician there referred me to a specialist, which none of the above did). I had just moved to Irvine and didn't know better.
Dr. Mandeep Singh is a wonderful and caring doctor and my daughter (the patient) thinks so too, I highly recommend her
NO COMPASSION: I really did not want to leave a review but I just hope it invokes change to this practice. We’ve been taking our son to Hoag Pediatrics since he was born (11 years ago). We love his primary doctor. We’ve even liked the other MD’s we’ve seen in her absence. However, today, we experienced a visit free from compassion. We saw a different MD there because our son’s MD wasn’t available. We’ve seen this MD before so I’m assuming she was just having a bad morning. I understand my son simply has a cold. He already went to urgent care at the beginning of the week and was tested for Covid. It was negative. But I was more upset about her demeanor letting us know we were a waste of her time. Yes a common cold is nothing these days. And she made it clear she won’t prescribe antibiotics because she believed it to be viral. She asked us to come back in another week if he still had the same symptoms. He’d already been miserable and unable to adequately sleep for a week even with the OTC meds that they’re pushing these days. I tried explaining this in hopes she could offer some other recommendations but she replied with “Okay well just don’t give them to him. If they aren’t working…I can write a note that you were here…” Please know that it’s not that I disagreed with what she said. It’s the callousness. I was a tired mom who had already been up all week with a sick kid. I was also the mom caring for him all day while also working my job from home and attending school at night and also caring for his toddler little brother. How about offering other OTC meds that could work? Or perhaps saying, “I’ll write a prescription for an antibiotic dated a week from now if it’s not better…” instead of having us make a third trip to a doctor’s office for the same issue and pay a third co-pay. There were things she could have done but chose not to and that’s what bothered me.
I can't say enough about Dr. Singh. She is knowledgeable, thorough, informative, patient, understanding and her bedside manner is excellent creating such a positive patient-care experience. I can't thank her enough and we are so fortunate to have her as both my sons' pediatrician. I know their health is in the best of hands with Dr. Singh. Being in healthcare myself, I know the importance of having a good primary care physician and pediatrician. We are so fortunate to have Dr. Singh as our family pediatrician. Thank you for everything Dr. Singh!! You are the best!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
