List of Irvine Oral Surgery & Dental Implant Center's Reviews
I have been here a few times for family member's procedures. This place double booked people, so the waiting room area was always packed with a lot of patients standing around. And everything seems to be in a rush...from checking in, consult to procedures! I was scheduled with Nguyen and that day was such a mess! I can hear other patients' screams and one unhappy patient arguing with staffs in the front! In the end, I can tell Nguyen was trying to push me to do the procedure! No thank you!!! Don't fall for it people!
My 19 year old son went to see Dr Nguyen for a consult on wisdom teeth extraction. After the consult, my son called me and said 4 teeth needed extraction, and he sent over the estimate for me to review. I was surprised to see that Dr Nguyen recommended general anesthesia for a healthy 19 year old with no medical condition. There are always risk with general anesthesia, and I wanted to see if there's an option of doing it under local, plus other safety questions. I asked the staff if I can leave a message for Dr Nguyen to call back, and they said "he doesn't do phone consults". I told her it's NOT a phone consult, it's a follow up question to a PAID consult that my son just got. Shouldn't a parent be able to ask questions if their kid is undergoing surgery with general anesthesia? Back and forth, she would not take a message saying "he doesn't call patients back". She said I would have to come in the office and ask the question to him myself! So does that mean I need to book an appointment, pay another $195 for a second consult, so I can ask a question that takes 1 minute to answer? To add insult, she even said "if you had questions, you should have come with him to the appointment... I can't say why you didn't." uhh.... because I was working? Both my husband and I are in the health care field, and we would never ever consider ignoring a patient's questions, or even speaking to patients in this manner. We were very offended by how the office treated us and we will go elsewhere for his wisdom teeth extraction. My only regret is that insurance paid the $195 consulting fee, I paid $66 for the panoramic x-ray, and I never got any medical questions answered. All I got were gatekeepers pushing me away.
My husband had all his lower teeth removed and bone grafting done by Dr Hsu about 10 years ago. Had such a great experience. Excellent Dr. Excellent staff, so when it came time for a surgical removal of a skin growth under my tongue, Dr HSU was my first choice. Again everything from consultation surgery and follow up have been a 5 across the board once again. I am a very grateful patient
Dr. Jeff Nguyen is awesome. My father in law had a broken tooth under his bridge and needed the tooth to be taken out. He was able to see him right away, cut the bridge to free up the decayed tooth. The healing was great, and no pain! highly recommend Dr. Jeff.
I'm not the type to write reviews, but I wish I had been warned about this office before choosing it. I went in for a simple mucocele removal on my lip. Even before I saw the doctor, I was told I NEED to pay out of pocket for an X-ray of my teeth several times. Right before I paid I asked one more time why I needed an X-ray of my teeth when the problem was on my lip, the receptionist looked confused and then said, oh never mind. my consult was quick and simple and I was reassured that it would be a quick procedure. Not much information was given, which led me to think there was nothing I needed to do. When I asked questions, they were brushed off as if, no need to ask questions, this procedure is so simple. Day of, the procedure was very quick, and I was ushered out the door immediately afterwards, no post op instructions, no gauze, nothing. I continued to bleed in my mouth for the next 4 hours at home, thinking that was normal. And also didn't take any pain medication because I wasn't instructed to. After several hours, the pain intensified and the bleeding didn't stop. I called the office to which the nurse said, you didn't use the gauze we gave you?? and it was with a quick google search that informed me that I should have taken pain medication right when I got home. I expressed my concerns and disappointments on the phone with the nurse and she apologized but there was no follow up on the bleeding after that day, just a text the next day urging me to leave a 5 star review on yelp. Dr Nguyễn called me a couple weeks later, at this point I had scar tissue build up that I didn't realize I would have. When I expressed to him my disappointment in post op information I received I was brushed off, he hurriedly THEN gave me all the post op information that I already knew at that point from doing my own research and experiencing it first hand, and then gave a curt "thank you for letting me know". Also, they didn't refund me what was owed to me from the $200 deposit until I called and requested it back. Also, he ensured me this would cost less the $50 total. but now I am fighting a $50 bill from a lab company that they used. TLDR: poor communication, poor patient care and seems that Dr Nguyen cares more about money than the patient.
Amazing service. Great experience for my son with his dental surgery
The oral surgeon is nice, but the front office is the reason for -4 stars. This office refuses to do the necessary insurance paperwork for you to get your oral surgery. If your plan requires any action with your medical insurance before your dental insurance covers the procedure, the office is supposed to start a claim with the medical insurance company. This office refuses to do so and puts it all on the patient, saying that they "cannot start a claim because they're not contracted with medical providers". The thing is, you don't need to be contracted with a medical provider in order to get a medical denial letter. The office staff is just refusing to do due diligence on their end.
I had a disappointing experience with Dr. Nguyen. The service was delayed since the doctor seems to be with multiple people with the SAME appointment time slot?? And the issue I paid for was not resolved which leads to more complications. Ended up going to another practice.
The doctor is very nice and probably good at his job. But the service staff there has got to be some of the most rude and incompetent people I have ever encountered. Made me feel like I was a hassle anytime I called. Denied telling me things they told me (I am young and not forgetful). Billing statements make no sense and numbers dont even add correctly. Dont send CT scans when they say they will. Charge me twice for things when I asked for a refund? Yes its that bad. I am actual in shock and never leave reviews but its a baffling how rude they are on top of all this. I asked them for advice for what treatment I should do and their response is "you need to decide" and laughed at me. What kind of doctor office does that? Doctor, please address your staff.. I will not be back there nor would I recommend this place to anyone
Had 3 wisdom teeth removed (lower bilateral + upper right) by Dr. Nguyen and couldn't be happier with the experience. The procedure itself was smooth and efficient I was in and out without any issues. The team walked me through the post-op protocol clearly, and recovery has gone exactly as expected. No complications, no surprises. The office is professional, the staff is attentive, and the aftercare instructions were thorough. Would highly recommend for anyone anxious about oral surgery they make the whole process straightforward and stress-free.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process.
