So very grateful to Dr Powell for saving my husband’s life. His superb skills, warmest bedside manner are of the very highest that I have seen. As a prior CCRN and Int Med Physician of over 20 years, I have seen many fine and not so fine medical personnel. As a Hoag physician, I was wanting my husband to be admitted to Hoag. In January of 2019, I was referred to Dr. Powell after a cat scan discovered a tumor in my lung. Somewhat in shock, since I had never smoked,I was immediately reassured by Dr. Powell what needed to be done. He was personal, extremely competent, as we began tests which eventually led to surgery. I was only in the hospital for two days, it seemed as though he was always there checking up on me. He did have to take out a lobe but assured us all went well, looked good and I would be on the mend soon. I was lucky, though cancerous no spreading had occurred. I continue to see him every six months, he is always cheerful, reassuring and showing concern for my case.

I was a patient of Dr. Powell almost 4 years ago. I had what turned out to be Stage 1 lung cancer in both lungs. Dr. Powell made me feel at ease and from the start he was positive and sensitive to my needs. In the end he performed a lung lobectomy on both of my lungs within a two week period.

Absolutely the WORST physician practicing in Orange County. Dr Powell is a disgrace to physicians.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Powell. I had a spontaneous lung collapse and had no idea what the recovery process would look like or even why this occurred. Dr. Powell was able to easily explain what was going on, what the recovery process would look like and how the minimal invasive surgery would go if I chose to get it. He is very warm hearted, friendly and extremely knowledgeable in his field. I didn’t have the luxury of researching doctors before going to the ER, but I feel extremely lucky that I got Dr. Powell and would recommend him highly

Dr Powel is a superior surgeon, very skilled in his craft. He used the Davinci robot on me to take the lung cancer out of my lung. He basically saved my life, I’ve been lung cancer free for the last three years. I recommend dr Powel to everyone.
