I recommend highly Dr. Yu is a wonderful doctor. I’m so glad that I have her as my gynecologist and she’s very thorough and wants what’s best for the patient. I recommend her highly.
Dr. Yu was my OB for my first pregnancy in 2023 and delivered my baby at Saddleback Memorial. During delivery, I experienced a rare medical emergency, but Dr. Yu and the team acted quickly and managed everything with calm and precision. Throughout my pregnancy and recovery, she was attentive and always took the time to listen. I returned to her again for my second pregnancy in 2025 and would highly recommend her to anyone seeking for a kind, calm, and competent doctor.
Dr. Yu led me through a healthy pregnancy and personally delivered by first child in late 2024, so this review is definitely long overdue. While our routine visits were brief and succinct, I always felt like I was in good hands throughout my pregnancy. I have a thyroid condition and, at the time, I was also a grad student finishing clinical rotations, so I had many questions about how my condition and life stressors would impact my pregnancy. My pregnancy was monitored closely and my questions were always answered -- whether in-person or via the MyChart app. The ease of communication and scheduling made routine visits and the overall pregnancy a stress-free experience. I definitely wasn't expecting Dr. Yu to be in the delivery room on the big day (doctors are busy people, ok). But lucky me, she came in to check on me, left to do a scheduled surgery, and rushed back just in time to deliver my baby as well as check in on me one last time before I was discharged. Overall, my first pregnancy was better than I could've imagined and so much of that was because I had Dr. Yu as my OBGYN.
Dr Yu is amazing. Dr Yu is so kind and caring. She takes her time and listens. Her staff is welcoming and helping.
I've been seeing Dr. Yu for around 3 years now and she is a great Dr. I had been suffering with Endometriosis for over 20 years and have been to many doctors, have had many surgeries and have some truly horrific stories. Dr Yu is one of the best I've been to. Her knowledge and bedside manner has been wonderful. She is very clear in her explanations, straight to the point, and also very kind. She is the only doctor in 20 years to look at me and say "you've been through so much." That simple acknowledgement caught me off guard and made a big impact on me. She performed my hysterectomy and it went very well. She is so knowledgeable on current studies she suggested removal of my fallopian tubes and by doing so she was able to catch pre cancerous cells in them. Any fears or concerns I had afterward she addressed quickly either by phone or in app. Also worth noting the referrals she has given me are also to other fantastic doctors. Office experience has always been great and have always been checking in by fantastic staff. She is overall such a wonderful a doctor and I'm so happy I found her. Love the new location on culver as well. Highly recommend.
Excellent OBGYN Dr. Yu is punctual, easy to talk to, and took her time during my appointment! She is extremely smart and knowledgeable. I was comfortable with exploring my options with her.
one of the worst ob I've ever met. I'm actively trying to avoid her. I got my nexplanon removed by her. I had really bad pain when I got it, and wanted to ask some questions on what to look out for, for removal. when I asked questions about pain level and after care, she laid out a big sigh. she dismissed by concern and said its a simple procedure. and it was a simple one, especially compare to the installment, nonetheless, she just didn't practice any emotional intelligence in serving her patients. her tone, attitude, audible sigh altogether made me feel so dumbfounded, and I didn't know how to react. I had to go back to her cuz I had colorectal issue that I initially thought was ob issue. she was so upset with me for coming to her for exmianiation. I am still confused why she was so mad at me. she just seems not interested in interacting with a patient at all. she ended up recommending a colorectal surgeon to me, who she ASSURED that is female. turned out it was a male doctor, a bad one. I had the worst surgery from him and had to find another doctor. don't recommend her, she DOEST NOT GIVE A SH** about her patients.
Dr. Yu has been my gynecologist for a long time now. I find her to be caring trustworthy, compassionate and an overall good doctor. I highly recommend her if you need a good gynecologist.
I came to Dr. Yiao to urgently see a doctor and confirm pregnancy. Up until that point everything had felt normal, I had no signs of a period for 7 weeks and would have been about 5 1/2 weeks pregnant since date of conception. I had felt different cramps across my pelvis area that felt like a stretching and my uterus expanding. I experienced a leaking of clear fluid for a week straight which made me try to find an OBGYN. I just got new health insurance with my new job, so this was my first time seeing an OB with MCMG. I have a history of producing low hormones so was coming in to ask about hormones and how to work out any issues I might be having to be able to continue this pregnancy. When Dr. Yiao came into the room, she stood in the corner by the computer the entire time, never sat down to talk to me or really hear my history and concerns. It seemed that because my urine test wasn't positive she was convinced I wasn't pregnant and not listening to me about my history with low hormones. I also noticed the plastic sheath that was over the probe was square shaped, had pointy corners, and did not fit the probe properly. When I have had ultrasounds in the past, the plastic cover fit the probe correctly, snug like a condom. This did not look like that. She then proceeded to insert the probe and didn't even turn down the lights or talk me through the procedure. It was incredibly painful and I could feel EVERY movement. It felt like she was scraping my insides, or tearing things apart. I didn't say anything and was just trying to breathe through the pain because I was trusting her as the doctor. When she noticed me breathing hard she finally said 'you might feel some pain' after the fact, and then when she pulled the probe out, it was covered in a lot of blood. I have had ultrasounds before and just felt a little bit of discomfort and maybe had a little bit of spotting afterwards. But as soon as she pulled the probe out I started bleeding profusely. I had NO signs of a period or bleeding before this appointment, and I know that what she did was not right and caused me to start bleeding. I then bled out for 4 days with large clots the size of a quarter across 48 hours and then smaller clots after that. I was bleeding so heavily and passing such big clots that it scared me, so I kept trying to contact her office to talk to her. I had no missed calls from her even though in my MyChart messages she kept claiming that she was calling me back. After a day of this, I called the receptionist and said I would make myself available any time that works for her. They said she would call at 5pm the next day. I went home early from work to take her call and when she didn't call again, I called and got transferred to a nurse who said that due to my bleeding still happening I should go to the ER. So that night I went to the ER to confirm there were no cuts or infection. The ER doctor then asked if I would be comfortable doing another ultrasound and I trusted them, so felt okay to try that and see if it would hurt again. I agreed that I would be vocal and say if any part of the ultrasound hurts. And it didn't. This ultrasound was perfectly normal with just a little bit of pressure felt. I also noticed that this ER doctor used lube when inserting the probe and it reminded me that in my appointment with Dr Yu she was trying to shake lube out of the bottle and couldn't get any out of it. At the time I assumed she had enough, but I don't think she had any lube on the probe when she inserted it. So I felt everything and was in excruciating pain. That ultrasound was so tramautic that I am still emotionally bothered by remembering the appointment. I will now be looking into switching to another medical group, because MCMG OBGYN's do not have good ratings on yelp and I cannot trust them after my first experience with Dr. Yu. She should not be allowed to conduct ultrasounds without someone else there to advocate for the patient. She really should not be allowed to be a doctor in women's health with how impersonal she is and how bad her bedside manner is. I truly believe she induced my miscarriage and has committed malpractice. She also tried to say that I had a 'chemical pregnancy' before she left the room. How she was able to make that assessment before looking at my bloodwork is illogical, especially with my history of hormonal imbalance. She did not do the due diligence in creating a safe, comfortable space, and being careful and cautious with the steps she took to conduct the ultrasound. She also never once looked at my vagina or labia to ensure everything was looking healthy. She sat far away, stared at the screen, and never observed me or made eye contact with me. Someone should vet her practices and investigate how she is running appointments.
Love Dr Yu Dr. Yu is the best doctor. I love her . She delivered my son for me which was a wild journey but I couldn’t have done it without her . I fully gave her my trust and enjoyed every appointment with her . She communicated with me , explains everything to me , is helpful and very kind.
