I found Dr. Stephanie Punomo via the Aetna in-network providers. Prior to finding Dr. Stephanie, I did a lot of research on my own and consulted with several other doctors. Unfortunately, some doctors turned me down because I asked about some specific treatment that I saw online but the doctors were not comfortable operating on it (I have a little unique situation). When Dr. Stephanie was on the phone, she was able to address all my questions and gave me the confidence that I can learn the pros and cons of different orthodontics procedures when I visit. The first visit was so smooth and informative! She made me enjoy being in a dental office. She took x-ray and 3D images of my teeth, my jaw, my neck, and my nose to give me a comprehensive view of my situation. She reviewed my questions in depth because I wanted to know all the options that I have. Besides her rich knowledge and caring for patients, I also appreciate that throughout our conversation, she always kept my goal in mind. Her suggestions are based on what I want to achieve in terms of my facial look - she's not trying to win me over as a patient; she genuinely offers her advice and wants to do the best thing for me, which I found very rare in the doctors I consulted with. I left her office feeling informed and confident that I know what would be the best treatment for me. She'll be my #1 doctor to recommend if people need a referral!

Hidden gem! Both the orthodontists at Salt and Light were hands-down phenomenal. I haven't been to an orthodontist since I had braces decades ago, so when considering invisalign, I had to do a lot of research to find a practice that would be a good fit for me, and I'm so grateful I went with them. I work in the medical field, so I appreciate when the provider is knowledgeable, skilled, honest and compassionate. They check all the boxes. They were very articulate in explaining the treatment plan, spent the time to make sure it was tailored to me. And when it comes down to their work, they are super skilled. Details are also important. The website and office were both informative and well-designed, you know they took the time to plan and think through each aspect. Equipment is up to date and they use the latest technology for imaging. They are well-spoken, well-trained (Harvard and UCSF) and have a great deal of experience. I felt like I needed to tell people how great this place was!

My 10-year-old son is currently under care of Dr. Purnomo and Yoon. No doubt that my whole family fell in love with this place on our first visit. I, as a mother and former brace wearer 20+ years ago, would love to give 8 thumbs ups (borrowing all the thumbs of my family) on their highly advanced technology equipment and, needless to say, their hands-on expertise. My son's brace experience is the most pleasant. I couldn't imagine that he would be willing to visit SLO every month and happy to see doctors. Though his teeth alignment is complicated, Dr. Purnomo and Yoon's approach is very simple and modern! Love it!

I am so happy I decided to come here to start my orthodontic treatment! Growing up, visiting the dental/orthodontist office seemed so mundane, but this family practice kept me engaged and feeling more comfortable than I ever have from a visit. I am very thankful to be recommended here by a family member as my own dentist made a mistake in advising me not to remove a wire bridge on my bottom teeth that already broke, and was stabbing my tongue every day. Dr. Purnomo and Dr. Yoon truly saved me from the nightmare that my own dentist failed to notice, and I can never be thankful enough for how quick and easy the process was. Dr. Purnomo, Dr. Yoon, and Shirley (the patient care coordinator) were all very patient, friendly, and communicative with me and went over my payment options and answered my questions before I could even ask. What stood out to me the most is how relaxed and at home I felt during my visit along with the passion and dedication the doctors and staff have towards making each visit unforgettable. The office was very bright, had wonderful literature for enjoyment, and had all of the cutting edge technology, which was the cherry on top to making my dental visit second to none!

Dr. Purnomo is hands down my absolute favorite orthodontist! Her friendly demeanor is just off the charts but the best thing about her is that you can tell that she truly cares for her patients and encourages them to participate in making decisions about their treatment. At the end of the day, it's your teeth and she strives to ensure they are healthy and make you feel most confident showing them off :) My clear aligner treatment was about 6 months but my lazy self didn't wear it the full 20+ hours/day on one too many days soooo I might have dragged it an extra month or two. Don't do what I did ha, just wear your aligners. If I had to do it all over again just to see Dr. P, I absolutely would! (Not going to though because I wear my retainers every single night!!!! :))

I just started my Invisalign treatment with Dr. P and wow this was the best experience I've ever had at a doctors office. Everyone is super nice and their office is comfortable, clean and aesthetic. Throughout the treatment process, I knew exactly what I was getting myself into and how it would affect my teeth. Dr. P explained step by step what she was doing and after my appointments she also checks up on me and how my treatment has been going! What I ABSOLUTELY LOVE was that she recommended what was necessary to help me achieve my dental goals. At other dental offices, I would sometimes be recommended unnecessary procedures. But not with Dr. P! I can feel that she truly cares about her patients and wants the best for them. Shirley is also sooo amazing! I was confused about what my dental insurance would cover but she was patient and explained how everything works. They handled everything and the process was clear. I usually never write reviews but my time here has been incredible. I actually enjoy going to my ortho appointments - 1000000/10 RECOMMEND!!!

For the longest time, I had been putting off appointments with an orthodontist, but after reading the reviews, I thought I'd give this office a visit. I'm so glad I decided to come to Dr. Yoon and Dr. Purnomo for an appointment! They both were so patient and kind with me throughout my entire consultation! Not only is this office so clean and comfortable, but both docs just made me feel at ease throughout my entire appointment. I have always put orthodontic care in the back of my mind because I just didn't have the funds to look into it and was a bit nervous about pursuing orthodontic care in my adult years. Not only were Dr. Yoon and Dr. Purnomo very informative and complete in their care, but they explained everything in a way that I could understand it. That's when you know you've met some great docs! They were very accommodating with my situation (currently a grad student living off of loans!) and very forthcoming and transparent about everything. I never felt pressured to pursue one option over the other but I left my appointment feeling more confident in these docs to take care of my teeth. Not sure how else to put it but that they just made me feel comfortable and confident in their care. This entire experience was well worth my visit and I will be coming back for all my orthodontic care!

I cannot recommend Drs. Yoon and Purnomo enough! I had the best experience with braces that I could have possibly asked for. I have already told so many friends that if they ever need braces - this is the place to go! Meeting the doctors gave me confidence right away, they are so knowledgeable and explain everything in great detail. I knew exactly what to expect. After the procedure, Dr. Purnomo was available for a text or phone call, and answered questions I had immediately! I felt SO at ease during the whole experience. Also if you're looking for interior design inspiration, take a look at this office!!

Oh my gosh! This is the BEST experience I have ever had at a medical professional's office. Office SO clean, pristine, modern and bright. I immediately felt welcomed upon entering. The office is open so you can see what all is going on behind the desk. Their books to read in the entry are beautiful and enjoyable. Dr Stephanie She made time to meet me after my work hours. I brought in my twin 13 year old daughters. I have never had a doctor spend so much time taking a thorough examination. She was so patient and explained everything to me. Her medical equipment and imaging is industry leading. She even noticed some health issues we didn't know existed. We will be heading to an ENT to have those addressed thanks to her. She was friendly and made my girls feel right at home. She complimented them and made them feel special. We cannot wait to go back. There is no doubt that I will be sharing her information with all friends. You must go to see this office!

If only I would've known Dr.Purnomo and Dr.Yoon sooner! Just recently I had one of my permanent retainer wire poke out, and was starting to hurt the inside of my mouth. It was thanksgiving day, so I waited until the next day to call in.... Hoping for an appointment. I was super super relieved that salt and light orthodontics was very friendly to fit me into the schedule and were willing to help me as soon as possible. As soon as I walked in, I just knew this place was going to be amazing. Everything about this dental office was aesthetically pleasing. You could tell how much hard work and detail was put into it. I was greeted by Dr.purnomo who was super friendly and kind, she helped me with the whole process and was super understanding as I was visiting out of town. They throughly explain the entire process to you, making sure you understand everything. A huge plus was all the cool, new technology they use. They don't do any of the nasty,flavored gel mold most orthodontist do prior and during your braces dental work. Overall, I was very satisfied with the whole process. Both Dr.Purnomo and Dr.Yoon made sure I was comfortable during the treatment and were very kind. It felt as I was having a nice conversation with friends. You can really tell how passionate they are of their work and what they do. I don't have braces anymore but I really wish I would've done all my ortho dental work here! I highly recommend this orthodontist! Please don't hesitate on coming to their office, it's beautiful.
