Vivek A. Mehta's Online Review Report Card

Dr Mehta was assigned to me by mission hospital. My T-1 had a teardrop break and my c-1 had an arch break. I told Mehta I was a surfer and to please save my mobility. He said “I am not concerned with you surfing”. He fused my c7-t3 twelve degrees forward so my 20lb head was set seriously off balance, he installed excess metal rods that blocked my c6 from moving, he did not put all my muscle fibers or fascia back together and used metal staples not dissolvable stitches which left a terrible scar and separated muscles. I thought my life was over, never surf again, and I would have serious strain forever. No follow up or care about me by Mehta. I questioned him as to why and his answers were disheartening. I found a great surgeon out of UCLA Dr. Lanman who straitened my neck, took the metal out, installed an artificial disk at c5-c6, put my muscle fibers and fascia back together, and smoothly used dissolvable stitches. All my strain is gone and my neck is straight and balanced.

WORST EXPERIENCE ! He's not too nice, said he couldn't really determine anything until I got X-rays - which I did the same hour I left his office - one and a half months later I still haven't heard back from him or his nurse. I've called every day, left messages with a call back number , left messages with the receptionist ... nothing !

Hands down the best surgeon I've ever met. Dr. Mehta is a fantastic surgeon and was there for me in my time of need. He helped me to regain function of my arm and skillfully got me through two major spine surgeries. If ever find yourself is a situation where your in need of spine or back surgery look no further, Dr. Mehta is the absolute best choice. I would argue the best surgeon in Orange County and likey one of the best in the country. Thank you so much for your help I feel so lucky to have had Dr. Mehta handling my care! His nurse practitioner and all of his staff for that matter were also amazing. Such a great team doing too notch work!

Dr. Mehta saved my life. I broke my neck playing in the ocean with my son in August 2020 and Dr. Mehta knew what to do after reviewing the detailed scans and Xrays. He designed the correct surgery that would allow mobilty for my neck and the fusing of the broken vertebrate for strenght. Dr. Mehta is extremely kind, brilliant, and exact. I am so thankful to be his patient. I wish I could buy him a Tesla for saving my life. The world needs a million more Dr. Mehtas.

Let me begin by says the doctor has an amazing personality. Excellent bed side manner. Environment is comfortable and clean....Now on to his office. Total train wreck. They did all the usual things, called to verify appointment etc. the day of my appointment I was called at 1:23 for a 3:30 appointment asking if I could come in early. At 2 pm. Since I was across town, I knew it would be closer to 45 minutes, so I told the, 2:30. I make it in at 2:09, goto check in and they tells me I am super early and that no one knows of the change. I tell him I can call the number back to see who called or just come back in an hour....( I had move a meeting to make the 230 appointment work)...He guy states, no...we can make this work. I sit for the next hour having already completed my paper work.... another patient comes in..not sure who the doctor is and is late. I over hear the conversation and while he did call them to state he was running late due to traffic he was 19 minutes late and they only allow a 4 minute grace period. I continue to sit and wait..... there is another guy sitting across from me who says his appointment was 2:45 and he was not yet seen I either....wow....By 3:45, I am up at the counter explaining (lecturing) the front staff about acceptable behavior-And believe me this was not acceptable. At that moment, I guess they wanted avoid a scene and call me. InThe nurse does a BP check, and with in 5 minutes the doctor showed up. He asks what he can do for me, I tell him that I need a second opinion before doing a procedure. He looks at some notes on his phone and 30 seconds later says he needs an flex X-ray as he can't tell from the MRI. I am trusting of corporate that he already looked at them or was reading his or the radiology notes. Seems like a sharp guy, lets go with that.He says he will have the order in the system by Tomorrow morning (Friday). I leave.On Tuesday I go by radiology to get an X-ray. They lady at the front says she has nothing and that they use the same system. I walk to the next build over from radiology where the doctor is - wait for the girl to finish her tasks, call the next person on the list and looks up my name. She says the order is in the system, but not sure why they can see it. And tells me that since I have a PPO, the nurse will come out and see me.The nurse states they did not get the order in and she will have to contact the doctor to do it. I really don't have the time, bit figure I should tell her that the girl behind the desk told me it was I the system....oh and by the way....I have worked with Epic, your EMR system, and the girl at the front just flat lied. As for PPO - xrays really do not have much of a prior approval, just the doctors order.....The girl at the front desk looks like she is going to cry and just says ....sorry...sorry....that was a mistake.....I really HATE writing a review like this. Seems like such a good doctor....the office just really failed to deliver in the worst sort of way.....If you are going to this office, it really has to be for the amazing doctor....(I hope, I only spoke with him for 5 min) the rest of the experience I could have done without.My point of this long post is to communicate the office flaws not damage business. This really is a lack of training for an inexperienced staff. If others post positive reviews, I will remove this post and solely base the review on the doctor (he seems good).

All I can say Dr Mehta is amazing. He did a double back Spinal Fusion Surgery on my Mom's T12 and recovered perfectly. She went through outpatient PT and is able to walk well. Everything is going well for her now. I would highly recommend Dr Mehta to anyone.

We were referred to highly respected Dr. Mehta to resolve a herniated disk issue. Dr. Mehta was excellent at explaining the condition and the proposed minimally invasive procedure to rectify the condition. He was very personable, his expertise was outstanding, he also identified an additional issue with spinal fluid leakage which he corrected. We had an excellent outcome and are now pain free after two years of suffering. County USC system although needs some work in managing appts.
