Sutter Amador Hospital's Online Review Report Card

This hospital misdiagnosed me on January 13th 2021 with high blood pressure even though I was telling them I was having sudden and severe vision issues, they never took images of my brain, I returned 3 days later and explained something was very wrong and they sent me away again, finally 17 days later on the 31st of January, I walked back in to this hospital and told them I needed an MRI. They performed the MRI and found that I had a blood clot (stroke) to my visual processing center area of my brain. The Doctor who mis-diagnosed me on the initial vist was Dr. Ron Hood, just know doctors at this hospital are not good at diagnosis, they are only there to treat the prisoners from the Mule Creek prison located in Ione. (My personal opinion) If you have a real medical emergency diagnosis need please go to a hospital like UCD in Sacramento

People are nice when they answer the phone. Getting the phone answered in radiology is 99% impossible. If you can go elsewhere I would.

Every time I go to see my primary care it’s as if he couldn’t care less. Even when I went in for my annual physical. I know we need to do labs, it’s the same labs we do every year. But instead of having me get the labs before I go in he waits till after my appointment to order them. Then he wants me to go get the labs and rescheduled an appointment. Which will be at least three to four weeks out. Then when I do go in it’s always the same. A phone call would be fine. But while I am there for either appointment if I ask a question he says you’re going to have to make an appointment for that. I have never had such poor care. He is great at referrals but the actual appointments never happen. I waited 8 months for a dermatology appointment and then because he said in his referral to check for psoriasis. The dermatologist said you don’t have psoriasis. Which I knew. But I do have several sun spots that are questionable. The dermatologist had them make another appointment- 6 weeks. Why I AM HERE. My open enrollment is coming up I will be leaving you

Arrived by ambulance for medical treatment 5 hours later still hadn't seen a doctor. It is interesting that they show their statistics because they are below average in every way. Their expected time from intake to leaving is over 10 hours. Yea a particularly fine institution for those who don't care about quality care.

Sutter used to be the best hospital you could ever go to and now it's just as bad as Mark Twain. I came to the hospital with my 9 year old son with chest pains and stomach pains at 915, they didn't take us back til 1130, they didn't start doing test til after 1am them at 230 the nurse said did anyone draw his blood yet..ummm no, not yet when the Dr ordered it at 1130. Meanwhile we are in the hallway in a plastic chair, no pillow or blanket for him and he is so tired and just wants to sleep. You know the hospital charges full price to our private insurance for us to be in a room not in a hallway getting poor care and being ignored for several hours.

Over multiple visits we have received very poor care at this hospital. 1. Daughter was sent away after breaking wrist falling off a skateboard. She was given x-rays, but told it wasn't broken so they wrapped it in a bandage and sent her away. Turns out it was broken after all and she now has arthritis that will require physical therapy and corrective surgery. 2. Son broke pinky finger and was essentially told the same thing. Finger pain has never gone away and so we went to Kaiser and they told us it was broken from the beginning and his will also require surgery to fix. We will not be returning unless an absolute emergency. I suggest anyone to do the same.

The ER was one of the worst hospital experiences of my life a few weeks ago. My 3 year old had to go in for stitches which in itself was traumatic. We were treated so poorly as soon as we declined the sedative they wanted to give her. It seemed completely dangerous and unnecessary for a few stitches to give me 28lb toddler hard drugs. From the second we declined we felt a shift in care, like it was so inconvenient to have to stitch a fully conscious child. She did amazing after hours of waiting and watching all the ER doctors just hang out at desks all afternoon laughing together and doing very little. If I can avoid it I'll never go back here. Not a single person smiled at any scared injured daughter, horrible place.

I've had some really good and bad experiences at this hospital mainly the ER. I think the level of care depends on who's on duty. They helped my grandma not die, but for me it took enough more than 4 years to get to the right doctor. The er staff for more than 4 year have been nothing but helpful for me even though I didn't get the care I quite needed but the last few times have been just geat. I do love everyone in the ER.

They really need to make this hospital much Bigger our community is getting bigger alot people are moving up here so people don't have to sit in the emergency waiting room for couple hours in severe pain. Last week I had to go in late at night in severe pain and throwing up and I had to wait in the emergency waiting room for like 2 hours because they didn't had any rooms available in the emergency department that's BS and it take forever for me to get pain med and nausea medicine I felt like the emergency room people weren't taking it seriously at all because the EMT lady told them she think I just had a UTI witch I didn't I have kidney stones
