List of Eric J. Del Piero's Reviews
After a disastrous (see my review) experience with Dr. Dessouki of the Retinal Diagnostic Center in Santa Cruz and Good Samaritan Hospital in San Jose/Los Gatos, I refused to go back for the same procedure on the other eye and instead went to Dr. Del Piero of Monterey Eye in Monterey and I am GLAD I did. The entire experience was 5 star. Dr. Piero was congenial and answered all my questions. His staff and Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula (CHOMP) were courteous and professional at ALL times. The nurse at CHOMP knew what she was doing having worked at the hospital for 12 year with Dr. Piero. Dr. Piero, himself, had performed retinal procedures at the hospital for 36 years. Everything Dr. Piero said would happen and when it would happen did happen. If you need retinal surgery please go see Dr. Piero and do NOT go to Dr. Dessouki.
For years, he is my eye doctor and friend. He is really a good 'vitreous retina macula specialist.' Very thorough and professional.
I have been going to Dr. Del Piero for years, he is thorough and professional. I had surgery with him and was very impressed with his knowledge and skill.
I saw Dr Del Piero in his Monterey office several months ago. He was very explanatory. He had to refer me to another doctor who does eye surgery, but he did a very good job answering my questions and explaining things to me. I WOULD recommend him to family/friends.
Dr. Del Piero identified two holes in my retina and fixed them with a barrage laser two days later. His entire staff is considerate, knowledgeable, and professional. They are taking COVID prevention seriously, too. I had no complications from the surgery and my post-op was free. It's not that fun to have someone shooting lasers into your eyes, so it's important to find someone you trust, and that person, for me, is Dr. Del Piero. I should also add that the surgery lasted five minutes and was not painful, and it prevented what could have been a much more serious issue. I am very grateful to Dr. Del Piero and his staff and I recommend him highly!
Just the worst. In 2010, he completely misdiagnosed me as having potential tumors when I had a common eye disease called Keratoconus. Then didn't process a payment I made and reported me to a credit reporting agency. Not to mention very arrogant
Stay away from these people! Jessica was extremely rude and unprofessional when trying to force me to reschedule my appointment. She would not listen to me and hang up when I was still saying something. I heard no apologies.
I had 2 retinal tears within 10 days. Both times, I got in the same day to see him and he repaired the tears on the spot with laser surgery. He is respectful, businesslike, explains everything thoroughly, and knows his stuff. His office staff is extremely professional and friendly. He even accepts Covered California insurance. I cannot recommend Dr. Del Piero highly enough. Monterey is very fortunate to have this skilled retinal specialist in our community.
This office is great! They got me in for an appointment quickly(2 days). And even fit me into his schedule to come back later that afternoon to get my first much needed laser eye surgery. The staff was very friendly and Dr. del piero is extremely knowledgeable. He saved my vision and I am forever thankful!

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
