List of Western Sierra Medical Clinic's Reviews
Unfortunate that the reviews on here are so low because I've had such a great experience at the Kings Beach location. Each staff member that I've encountered has been SO helpful, kind, and efficient. Thank you to the staff
I was only trying to change my appt. with Dr. Plantz to a phone conference because I moved 3 hours away. He was only going to go over a cholesterol test - for which originally he forgot to place in the first blood testings. He denied my request to change this appointment (same time but only to a phone session) and never returned my first call. He just expected me to show up. REALLY!!! IT IS LIKE HE THINKS THAT I AM NOT TELLING THE TRUTH THAT I MOVED. I am so frustrated with his arrogance. I will be reading my own blood test this time. Ugh!!!
I don't recommend this clinic as a walk-in. I had something stuck in my ear a few weeks ago, and came to the walk-in clinic in Grass Valley for some help. The medical professional looked in my ear and didn't see anything, so he prescribed some antibiotic ear drops and sent me home. A few weeks later, the drops all used up, I still had pain and that noise in my ear, so I called around, looking for an ENT specialist to try to make an appt. I was told I needed a referral from a primary care doctor, and was told I could come back to the clinic and they would write me one. So I came back and the nurse who saw me refused to write a referral so that I could see a doctor! What kind of clinic refuses a patient a doctor, especially when they missed the long piece of dried grass the nurse pulled out of my ear? It had been in there for several weeks and could have done some serious damage to my inner ear, but they wouldn't let me make an appt with an actual MD to look at it.
I was supposed to be a new patient but I wont be returning. I was called at 8:30 this morning by Western Sierra asking if I was available for a 1 o'clock appointment for today, in which I agreed and the appointment was set. I read the other reviews and was skeptical of this place already but decided to give it a chance. I drove 40 min. to get there to have them tell me all dental appointments had been CANCELLED and that they tried to reach me several times. I had no missed calls, emails, absolutely nothing and they were the ones who CALLED ME to set the appointment THIS MORNING. The blatant lie from the staff about trying to reach me was the icing on the cake, they couldn't even admit they had made a mistake. So almost two hours of driving plus gas wasted. Should've listened to the reviews I do not recommend coming here. If anyone has any dentist recommendations shoot them my way!
Very friendly
Not even worth trying to book an appointment. You have to fill out a new patient form and print it out yourself, the fax it to them and still have to wait a week for them to process your paperwork before you can even set up an appointment. Called 4 times and left several unanswered messages before getting through and finding all that out. I don't understand why it's so so hard to find a primary care doctor in this sh**hole town
If you want to get the most incompetent service this is your clinic. They lose blood test results, they are extremely unprofessional, they say they will send over a prescription to a pharmacy and WONT. The people working here are the most incompetent. They don’t even deserve 1 star. Save yourself the headache and don’t go here.
Went in with a broken foot to have them set me down & wait. I went to the real emergency room and was in and out within an hour. I called this morning to get a refill on my seizure medication with a "zero minute wait time" to hang up after waiting for 4 minutes to talk to someone. Also I love Led Zepplin but Robert Plantz is a joke of a doctor who needs his credentials checked.
Today I went to western Sierra medical clinic in grass valley to use there urgent care same day appointment option. Western Sierra in grass valley I know well and is where I normally go to see my regular doctor. When I arrived I was screened for COVID before I entered the building. I have not been sick for over 8 months, have no fever, have not been around anyone who has COVID. I work alone completely isolated from the public. We have had many fires here in Nevada county for the past few days and the air has been very smoky. I was asked before I entered the building if I had a cough and I said only with the heavy smoke in the air. After waiting a long time to get seen I was told that I would be seen by a Dr. Robert Plantz, PA-C , then after being fully checked for COVID before I entered the building and waiting in a room for Dr Robert Plantz to finally show up I was then told that the doctor would not see me because I told the screener at the front door that heavy smoke in the air would be the only thing to make me cough. So I was sent home with no help from the urgent care at western Sierra in grass valley. It was a total waste of time to loose money by leaving work and to sit at the clinic and get rejected by Dr Robert Plantz because I said that heavy smoke in the air can make me cough. This is totally ridiculous for Dr Robert Plantz to send me home. I did not cough one time during the appointment and I have not coughed at all since the forest fire smoke has cleared up. After I got home I went to Western Sierra medical clinic website and read Patients Rights and Responsibilities, you can find on this link ; wsmcmed.org/patients-rig…What they have posted is a far cry from my experience. I guess what everyone need to know is that Dr Robert Plantz is not worth the time time to see and if you ever go to the clinic I would advise that you ask to not be seen by Dr Robert Plantz, his conduct is very unprofessional.
I don't know what all those bad Reviews are about? I've had 25 surgeries probably been to 15 different hospitals. The people at Western Sierra Have been giving me some of the best medical care I have ever experienced. Dr. Schapiro is an amazing doctor and her nurse John rocks along with Doris! I don't know what to say about Oksana besides she's awesome and has helped me so much in all the time I've been going there! I Brought her flowers one time because she's the reason I finally got a new replacement at age 46.Corey in reception Makes my day every time I see her.I think your people giving those crazy reviews Have never experienced real bad medical care? I've only been here 12 years and all I hear from the real locals here is about how bad the medical care is in Nevada County. I always ask what are you comparing it to?Go to the county hospital in San Leandro and see how you feel about that!Thank you everyone at Western Sierra for saving my life:)

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
