I had a left temporal AVM Arteriovenous Malformation brain surgery Craniotomy in March 2020 by Dr. Khalessi. After much research I found one of the best neurosurgeons in the nation here in San Diego. Dr. Khalessi shared all the options for my disease and the best option to proceed. He took the time to answer all my questions in detail. Dr. Khalessi and his team at UCSD are excellent. I recommend Dr. Khalessi for any neurosurgery in particular complex neurological surgeries.

Very rushed. Walked in 30 min late with a coffee mug. Was more focused on the coffee than me. Used the phrase I am the best surgeon in California. His PA didnt answer an important question. I have lodged a complaint with the Medical Board
I was extremely disappointed with this surgeon. I found him to be an extremely poor listener with little to no bedside manner both major negatives for any physician.
He came across as very rushed and didnt listen to my concerns.
I had two craniotomies to treat a very rare cerebrovascular disease that causes strokeMoyamoya Disease. Dr. Khalessi is a very busy guy but he took the time to ensure I was properly diagnosed and treated. He along with Dr. Carter performed one of my surgeries. It takes a long time to get an appointment with him and he was very rushed in seeing me.
Dr. Khalessi operated on me in November 2015. He inserted a brain stent for an aneurysm and saved my life. I thank God for him all the time From the first meeting he put me at ease. He took time to answer questions and to explain what would happen. There are many skilled doctors out there. But Dr. K is not only an expert at saving lives his bedside manner is the best I trust him and would recommend him to anyone in need of his specialized skills to save their lives God Bless You Dr.K
I highly recommend Dr. Khalessi. In 2014 he performed a craniotomy to clip an unruptured aneurysm. Since 2010 hes been my follow up neurologist for an aneurysm coil in 2009 by a Chicago doctor. Upon finding a second aneurysm on follow up we first monitored it then he clipped it. I had complete trust in him his skills and his professionalism. The other doctors nurses and staff around him are all great. I encourage anyone needing a neurosurgeon to consider Dr. Khalessi. He changed my life.
Dr. Khalessi saved my life He made my family and I feel comforted in a scary situation.
Khalessi is bar none one of the best neuro surgeons in the nation. I have been with him twice under critical circumstances. Khalessi and his team did an amazing job diagnossing putting a plan together and executing. Im still alive and I owe it to Dr. Alex Khalessi. Hes a busy guys know this going in. Dont think you can drop by and get a quick consult. Once you get in though you will quickly see his years of education and experience is the best and cutting edge.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
