List of Don Kikkawa's Reviews
Went into his office this week (during Coronavirus challenges). You enter thru the hospital due to safety precautions, but his office was incredibly cavalier about it all. I am high risk and his office staff kept handing me paperwork on clipboards with pens they had handled - and I had no option but to use my phone and lap to complete them. No offer of doing this electronically. Frankly, my hair dresser had more awareness of safety protocols than I saw in the office.
I’ve been seeing Dr. Kikawa for some years now...I had a bulging eye due to Thyroid Graves’ disease and he did an Orbital Decompression surgery and few months later corrective eye lid surgery. He did a phenomenal job and left me like new. It was a 5 hr surgery with no complications and recovery was pretty good as well. He is a dr that truly cares for his patients. He always listens to your needs and does his best to help. I will always recommend him! Best dr thus far! My favorite dr!

He is the kindest good hearted dr I’ve seen thus far. He is a good listener confident very professional a caliber dr and cares about his patients. Ppl from all over the world go just to get treated by him. That should tell you everything. It speaks volumes. He is good at his follows up and any concerns are very well addressed. The staff and office even bathroom are constantly clean and neat which I always notice since I’m a picky person. The staff is great and friendly. Overall 5 🌟s. I’d rate it higher if I could.
I had internal levator done on both eyes. Dr Kikkawa and his team made me feel quite comfortable before and after the surgery. Me eyes are still slightly swollen but I can already see the difference
Great docgets the job done as soon as possible.
My wife has thyroid eye disease (TED), which damages eye muscles and restricts eye movement. Dr. Kikkawa performs orbital decompression allowing the eyes to move freely. This allows Dr. Granet's eye muscle surgery to be more efficient. Both doctors have amazing reputations, and yet are not at all pretentious. Their staffs are amazingly compassionate, My wife's eye alignment, acuity and appearance have been restored. We highly recommend both doctors for the best TED care and treatment.
My wife was diagnosed with thyroid eye disease TED which damages eye muscles and pulls the eyes out of alignment causing double vision and fatty deposits around the eyes. In a major west coast city my wife had strabismus eye muscle surgery to correct the misalignment. This was only marginally successful. Her double vision remained. Her eye surgeon prescribed prisms and felt that nothing more needed to be done. His assistant even recommended we get a second opinion. Looking online we easily found the Shiley Eye Institute in San Diego and Dr. Kikkawas and Dr Granets YouTube seminar videos. Both doctors clearly explained TED and the damage it does to eye muscles and their treatment approaches. They also made a big point of the emotional effect of the eye misalignment on their patients lives. TED restricts the movement of the eyeballs. So Dr. Kikkawa first performs orbital eye socket decompression which allows the eye to move as freely as possible. This allows Dr. Granets eye muscle surgery to be more effective in aligning the eyes. Both doctors have amazing reputations and yet are not at all pretentious. MDs from all over the world come to Shiley to train under them. Dr. Kikkawa and Dr. Granet and their staffs are amazingly compassionate caring and responsive. My wife and I felt like members of their family. My wife ended up having several surgeries from Dr. Kikkawa and Dr. Granet. Her eye alignment acuity and appearance have now been nearly restored as they were preTED. This journey seems like a miracle to us considering the skill precision and art needed to accomplish the restoration. My wife and I are extremely fortunate to have found Shiley Dr. Kikkawa and Dr. Granet and the associated Ratner Eye Center. We highly recommend Dr. Kikkawa and Dr. Granet for what we believe to be is the best TED care available.
I had cosmetic surgery with Dr. K. He did a fantastic job and had great bedside manner. I am not sure what the others have to say but I know I had the best and I have seen many doctors all over So Cal.
As with the previous reviewer, I too had a blepharoplasty with Dr. Kikkawa. Unfortunately, I too am quite dissatisfied with my results. I don't know what happened but my eyes are uneven and I am hoping that he can fix the problem. My greatest dissatisfaction is with his staff. His patient coordinator is impossible to deal with; she never responds. I was told that he was a great eye doctor but I'm thinking that cosmetic surgery may not be his strong suit.

Selection Criteria
All the information you see here is based on our analysis of internet reviews across the seven major review platforms most used by consumers during their healthcare provider selection. The platforms we selected are Google, WebMD, Yelp, HealthGrades, Facebook, RateMDs, and Vitals. The analysis algorithm uses the compiled data of average score, recency of reviews, number of reviews, and the sentiment expressed in the written comments. It then assigns weight to each parameter based on the available research on how consumers use reviews in their doctor selection process. This report is designed to help identify the doctors with the best overall review score in an area and does not reflect the doctors' competence.
