I’m devastated for me that he retired but so happy for him. He’s such a gentle, kind man who always took the time to listen and gave words of hope to continue. You will be soooo missed. ??

I love Dr Hyde and wish I had found him yrs ago for my other surgeries. He's laid back and soothing. He explains everything. Great bedside manner. He has the respect of the nurses in the hospital which is important.

When I tested positive for BRCA 1, I was completely devastated knowing that the next steps included a double prophylactic mastectomy. However, once I met Dr. Hyde and his PA Brooke, I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Hyde and Brooke have been nothing short of amazing. They are caring, attentive, and incredibly knowledgeable and they really care about what the patient has to say and they answer any/all questions one might have. I would recommend Dr. Hyde and Brooke to anybody who has tested positive for the BRCA gene. I cannot thank them enough for making this very scary situation, not scary at all.

Dr. Hyde did "Whipple" on me in 1997 at Scripps. He was extremely kind and caring. He sensed my uneasiness and talked to me with terms I could understand. I felt a great deal of trust after that. I think I spent 7-9 days in hospital but he was there every day. Great Dr and humanitarian.

Like most here, I feel so fortunate to have found this incredible doctor and caring human being. In fact, he was so unusual to me in his welcome demeanor, I asked him why he was so different from the other doctors. He responded that when he was studying medicine in South Africa one of his teachers told him to always listen to his patient. His teacher said, "Your patient will always tell you what is wrong." It's now 26 years since he removed my breast cancer, and I haven't forgotten him. I will always be grateful to have found him. He is that good.

March 2019Dr. Hyde performed a laparoscopic sigmoid colectomy at Scripps La Jolla Hospital in Jan., 2019. I needed the surgery because of serious problems I was having with diverticulitis.The surgery was more complicated than anticipated, however Dr. Hyde did a great job on the surgery and the follow up visits. He saw me every day I was hospitalized and was genuinely concerned about my welfare. The care at Scripps was also excellent.I would recommend Dr. Hyde to anyone needing an excellent surgeon.RN

Dr. Hyde is a great surgeon and very passionate about his job. I had bilateral Mastectomy in 2015 with him. He is so meticulous about his surgeries. I wish we could have more doctors and surgery like Dr. Hyde. I do appreciate you Dr. Hyde!
