Bad news folks .... the front office appears to be blocking new patients who have selected Dr. Ali Alamar (following Medicare open enrollment 2023) .... I've been in contact with a representative of this office 3 times (2 via voice, once via email); and I have not received any call backs regarding my efforts to select Dr. Alamar as my new treating physician. (I even emailed a copy of my insurance card, as I was advised the office pre-vet's new patients. (The office agent: Jasminez). Not sure what is up with her, concerning my efforts. But this situation isn't consistent with the other reviews for the doctor. I wonder if he even knows this is going on? [Note: I've been in touch with Aetna, and intend to file a formal complaint.]

I'm really shocked by all the positive reviews, but hope theyre true. I went here several times and each time the vibe was very uncomfortable. It felt tense, confusing, rude, unwelcoming, unprofessional, and disorganized. While being seen for depression and anxiety, on three separate visits Dr. Alamar pressured me to reconnect with my parents, who were the sources of childhood trauma. He had zero understanding of what psychological trauma is. You dont tell a victim to stay in contact with their abusers. I had to explain on two separate visits what supplements I was taking because he apparently didnt record any of the info the first time I told him at length in detail. Two other times I requested a referral for abscesses, which he didnt seem to understand and kept recommending I just eat more soup, that nothing was wrong. Dr. Alamar reluctantly referred me to a gastroenterologist (rather than a colorectal/proctologist specialist), who then diagnosed me with Crohn's. Update: their denial and gaslighting reply below is very unsettling. To claim that someone is not or was not their patient based on an online user name is absurd. Yet if I called them and provided my full last name (not just an initial) and birthday then suddenly they would find me in their records. I was seen by Dr. Alamar multiple times for over 1 year while I lived in La Mesa.

Dr. Alamar is the best! I have had the privilege of working with Dr. Alamar for around 5 years. As a nurse in the hospice field, I can tell you this man genuinely cares! And not only for his patients, but for their families as well. He has integrity, skill, and a heart for his profession. I trust him with my very own family!

Dr Alamar is very thorough and caring. He has a warm genuine manner and listens intently to what you say. He takes the time to make you feel that his interest is genuine and remembers personal details. I have received excellent care and would highly recommend him.

Dr Alamar gave me renewed faith in Doctors while being hospitalized at Grossmont Hospital recently. His compassion and patient care, is incredible .. He is one of the most thoughtful Doctors and humanitarian. I would recommend this very special Doctor to anyone. He is caring, kind, compassionate ..thoughtful An astute Dr. who i trust completely . You would do yourself a favor to seek medical help from this fantastic man. Thank YOU!

Great physician!! Extremely knowledgeable, extremely smart, extremely friendly. He is amazingly thorough and excellent at determining next steps and how to best get you into the best health. His nurse and administrative staff are also awesome and friendly and the entire office, including Dr. Alamar have absolutely wonderful senses of humor that make the visits nice but do not override their sense of professionalism and taking care of you. They are also very on time and I never find myself waiting longer than a couple minutes if not seen immediately on time. Recommend Dr. Alamar 💯%
