Lee Katzman's Online Review Report Card

I went to see Dr Katzman at Alvarado Eye La Mesa, after 2 weeks of treating at home a red, inflamed, and very irritated eye. He and his staff, including Sara and Sandra, got me in to see him that afternoon, and after a thorough examination determined it needed intervention for it to drain. Arrangements were made in a very timely manner. He and his staff stayed late on a Friday night, sending me home with all my questions answered, and with relief I hadn't felt in 2 weeks. I highly recommend Dr Katzman and the staff of Alvarado Eye La Mesa.

Dr. Katzman is a great surgeon and always has time to answer questions! I would recommend him to my friends and family in a heart-beat.

Dr Katzman and his staff did it again. Finished cataract surgery on my second eye and can't thank him enough for the gift of sight. Brandon and Maya were so helpful in answering all the questions I had. Thanks again everyone!!

Wanted to add to my review after a follow-up because Dr. Katzman and his team are that wonderful! Everything is going great! I had the same wonderful care from Dr. Katzman at my follow-up and am still completely happy and grateful! I also wanted to mention that in my pre-op visits, Brandon and Vince were great! Also, a HUGE shout out to Diane -- she broke down the cost of options for me, which was very important in my decision making. She was patient and thorough and there were no surprises, which was awesome! Dr. Katzman and Diane were both so kind and patient, explaining everything about the procedures, options, and costs. I can't recommend highly enough!! By the way, having my eyesight restored is amazing!! I can't thank you enough, Dr. Katzman, Diane, Brnadon, and Vince!

Paid my co-pay before examination,then get a bill for$50 ($40 dollar co-pay) had to send copy of the receipt. office visit wasn't great, doctor was nice enough. The assistants were surly, lady who took my cash was nice. I won't return

My husband needed cataract surgery. After a less than stellar experience with another opthamologist we found Dr Katzman. Dr.Katzman and his office staff were friendly, efficient and very helpful. Any questions we had were not only answered but in a way we laypeople could understand.

Reading nearly all the reviews i am happy you all had good results with your cataract surgeries, i however did not. Dr Katzman implanted a IOL multi focal lens in my right, my vision resulted in being worse than was pre-op. I went to two other drs. and both consistently explained i was not a good candidate for this lens because years before had PRK Lasik surgery. Both Drs told me "I would have not selected that lens for you". My next mistake was to let Dr Katzman remove and replace the lens with a mono focal lens. After the second surgery and one day post-op dr. Katzman informed me that during the surgery he had punctured the Vitreous Humour and that i needed emergency surgery that he was unable to perform. Fortunately, Dr Pinney at Kaiser while assisted by a retna specialist performed the emergency surgery, fixed the damage, replaced the lens and restored my vision. I have never written a review before and it is not my desire to "bash" anyone here and i do take some responsibility by not doing more research myself. I would suggest you do the same.

Dr. Katzman is all around stellar. He's not only an excellent surgeon, but his care and support of his patients is so helpful in navigating one's incredibly important vision care. Dr. Katzman performed both of my cataract surgeries, one about 2.5 months ago, the other about a week ago. I'm younger than the average cataract patient as mine were damaged induced, versus age induced cataracts. Dr. Katzman explained to me what was happening and what to expect through the whole process. He took great care in ensuring the best possible results, which are even better than I'd hoped for. My initial goal was to find the best cataracts surgeon to perform my surgeries, which I believe I did, but Dr. Katzman's kind manner and genuine care, were an added bonus. I've already recommended Dr. Katzman family, friends, and colleagues looking into cataracts or Lasik correction and I will continue to recommend him with complete confidence.

l changed my insurance from Scripps to Sharp just so I could have Dr. Katzman do the cataract surgery I needed, as he came highly recommended. Complicating factors included a retinal detachment in that eye the year prior, my astigmatism, and the fact that I’d had lasik surgery over two decades ago. Nonetheless, Dr. Katzman performed a miracle. Within hours of my surgery, I could see clearly. There was never any pain, nor any evidence of a surgery, just the resulting miracle of perfect vision in an eye that had been problematic for nearly two years. I can’t recommend Dr. Katzman highly enough. Not only is he an ocular genius, he has a great manner. His staff is pretty great too. I fully intended to switch back to Scripps after the surgery, but my entire Sharp experience has been so amazing that I’m staying. Everyone – from my primary care physician, to billing, to x-ray, to podiatry – has been wonderful. I didn’t know what I was missing.
