The best surgeon in town! Friendly staff! Clean facility! Welcoming office space! Highly recommend!

Dr. Dickinson is a great surgeon. He is bright and down to earth. His office is easily located and nicely decorated. His staff is efficient, knowledgeable, informative and kind. Mary is great at explaining things and getting things done. Miriam is helpful and friendly. They both make me comfortable when asking my questions.

I honestly have to say that Dr Dickinson is the rudest, most arrogant, aggressive, and insensitive doctor that I have ever met. During my inguinal hernia examination (which lasted just a minute) Dr Dickinson pressed his fingers into my groin with no compassion, causing so such pain that I was in tears and started to sweat in pain. After his swift examination he had the audacity to imply that I was faking it. In addition, Dr. Dickinson ignored his own medical colleagues and nurses regarding my ultrasound results, which clearly reflected my injury. If you can stay away from this doctor please do it, Dr Dickinson should not be in the medical field.

DEATH!!!! My mother lost her life! She went in for gastric surgery ended up having 5 abdominal surgeries because of his mistake and never made it out and there was no explanation or any answers given to explain her cause of death. DO NOT TRUST GROSSMONT HOSPITAL the 5th floor South wing nurses were the WORSE! At this point we aren't sure if it was the Dr or nurses that KILLED her.

Dr. Dickinson is very kind and compassionate and takes the extra time to explain everything.He is a very skilled surgeon and I felt very safe in his hands I would highly recommend this doctor.😊

I was referred to Dr. Dickinson for a hiatal hernia from my primary care doctor. He and the staff were extremely professional and responsive in addressing me as a new patient and getting me in immediately. Super anxiety ridden I called a few times with questions, they were great about answering my questions, getting back to me and never made me feel like a burden. He has super legit credentials from Sharp hospital. I went to his practice in La Mesa. He is beyond personable and does an excellent job of creating a safe space and comfortable environment for patients. He explores all options of treatments and gives solid recommendations as well as explains each option for treatment before recommending or scheduling any procedure. Most doctors are in a hurry to get you in and out, but he really wants you to understand your options. Love this about him! He genuinely cares about his patients and love what he does and it shows. His office staff are super kind and patient. They keep you informed and do a great job of communicating. I really appreciated that. How Mary manages all the patients with a positive attitude, coordinates everything, works in the Operating room and remembers everyone by name is beyond me. In reading the other reviews I was a little shocked to hear about the negative comments of others. Unfortunately people only tend to leave reviews when they have negative experiences, (hence the blank profiles with a total of 5 reviews - all negatively blasting businesses) but I was beyond blown away at the care and personalized patient experience I received from Dr. Dickinson and his staff. Also please keep in mind due to HIPPA and patients privacy I highly doubt Dr. Dickinson and his staff come on here to tell their side of those negative reviews and instead maintain their integrity and keeping patient confidentiality, again demonstrating another one of his remarkable qualities. Also, really not fair to doctors who have their businesses on yelp. Nonetheless, I think it's safe to say you're in the hands of someone who cares and is qualified. I would recommend him to anyone, family or friend.

I had my gastric s procedure completed back in August 2021. The procedure is more mental than physical. Dr. Dickinson was able to answer all my questions however when it comes to follow up questions and contacting the office that's what's lagging. Sometimes I have questions once I get home or even getting refills and have to call several times to get a response. Miscommunication is NOT a skill that should be used during this process including trying to get in contact with the doctor.

Dr.Dickinson and his staff are wonderful and made me feel so comfortable while taking care of me which means a lot. Would definitely recommend!

Dr. Dickinson performed an inguinal hernia procedure. He opted to do it open, not laparoscopically. Didn't really matter, it went perfectly! Great surgeon.
