Great Dr and surgeon. Up to date on current technologies, leader in his field, widely respected. Has old school concern for his patients. I’d travel distances to be his patient.

An emergency room visit at Grossmont Hospital revealed I had a blood clot in my right pelvic area. Little did I know the mild pain I was experiencing and most likely the blood clot was due to and iliac artery aneurism that measured 4.2 centimeters. On the opposite side I had another aneurism that measured 2 centimeters. Once I got situated in a room, a Grossmont doctor (Sorry, I forgot his name) came to see me and he explained the severity of my case. He told me a vascular surgeon, Doctor Musicant would come see me the following day to discuss my options for surgery. I asked this doctor his opinion of Doctor Musicant and with hesitation he said, "Doctor Musicant is the best. You are in good hands." The following morning Doctor Musicant came to see me and explained my options for surgery. He took the time to ensure I understand the risks and benefits associated with both types of procedures and after a lengthy discussion, he put my mind at ease. Two days later I had a total of five stents placed into my iliac artery and later that same day the nurse had me up and walking. One month later, all is going well and I thank Doctor Musicant for his God given talent and my new lease on life. He truly is the best.

For nearly 10 years, Dr. Musicant has provided my husband with vascular surgeries nearly every two to 3 months due to his advanced diabetes and dialysis treatments. Dr. Musicant has done complex surgeries that grew more challenging as years passed and my husband's health declined. This fine doctor literally repeatedly saved my husband life while avoiding amputations well beyond the life expectancy, given the advanced stage of his Stage IV Renal Disease. The doctor and Marla, became my support system, calming my worries, helping me deal with the inevitable. Marla was able to make some miracles happen at the hospital, getting a surgery time open that would avoid further pain given the complications of dialysis, and not eating or allowed insulin prior to surgery. Of all the doctors and their staff I met with while taking my husband to various doctors and hospitals, Seeing Dr. Musicant and Marla began feeling like visiting caring family. When one person in the family is this ill, it really affects the rest of the family who does their best to provide care at home. I will never forget Dr. Musicant and Marla Lobenstein for their professionalism, their caring, and for the wonderful human beings they are for their patients and families.

I went in for a Fenestrated Graft for my Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm and Dr. Musicant had me as his patient for over 3 years monitoring the aneurysm. Surgery was performed - when I First asked how many he had done he said 12 and I said I hope I'm not 13.....(but I think I was because of the series of events following my surgery) Anyway - had surgery and he left instructions with P.A. who assisted him as he had another surgery to do. I was supposed to have 4 hours total bed rest - no moving from waist down so incisions could heal as they went thru both groins. P.A. wrote down "24" hours - the most miserable 24 hours of my life. Couldn't even roll myself over in bed. Then he left NO MEDICINE for me after surgery. I ended up call his office and spoke to Marla - and she was condescending to me but said she would take care of it as Doctor was at a Seminar the next morning and wouldn't see me till noon or 1 p.m. next day. I didn't question the 24 hours bedrest - probably should have. I had heard the normal was 4-6 hours - but then I never talked to Dr. Musicant and believe the orders he had left for me. Anyway - she called over my "daily regular medications" to the Nurses station and that is ALL I got for pain and discomfort. I also take an anti anxiety pill that I had been without for over 24 hours. Next day, my 24 hours was up, had foley removed as I wasn't going to try a bedpan with no lower body movement. Then sat on edge of bed to eat lunch when doctor appeared. He asked how I was and I said I had just gone to the restroom as my 24 hours bed rest and having the foley removed. He said - I said 4 hours - not 24 hours and I said - WELL - see what is written on the White Board - 24 hours bed rest. He then proceeded ignore it and told me that if I could walk the floor with a physical therapist he would release me as it was Friday at noon. I left my lunch, got up, walked the floor - while P.T. held my gown closed. He asked if I could go faster and I said yes but my "diaper" was hanging between legs - so he grabbed that too and I marched around the whole floor. I was ANGRY. Anyway - I was discharged as fast as they could get me out as I worked for lawyers and said I was MOST UNHAPPY about the MISUNDERSTANDING between doctor and P.A. Anyway - Surgery was a success but I wouldn't recommend anyone to go thru what I did. His staff and he were negligent in my care and well being and it was totally unnecessary. Had he just checked my chart that evening or called me or if Marla had been more receptive to my needs and less condescending telling me I was in a "safe place" and the nurses would take good care of me. I was intibated - throat sore - liquid diet - no cough drops - till approved by doctor on floor. Throat was closing up and I was close to a panic attack. Nurses said nothing they could do without orders. Only had ice cubes and then my pills had to crushed and taken with jello to even swallow. One nurse proceeded to bend my head forward and said it would be easier to swallow - and the pill ended up lodged in the back of my throat. I am 74 years old and know how I take a pill and I know what works for me!!! I would be very skeptical of staff and Marla and Doctor's orders after surgery. I would questions EVERYTHING and not rely on them. I would take control of my life in the future. In addition, I will say that I was also "practiced" on for my ultra sounds. Pressure so hard it hurt my stomach and I made her stop. I no longer will tolerate being a senior to practice on. I had 3 kids with not even an aspirin - one delivered in the labor room - so I know pain. Dr. Musicant may be a Very Good Doctor and Surgeon and came highly recommended - but I needed a doctor who cared and followed up with me or my family and people on his staff who would have followed up on my care and that didn't happen. They just didn't care. I will continue my follow-up with him and if anyone asks, I will share my experience. I am a PERSON and a PATIENT - not just a name in a File Folder. Would you want that kind of treatment for your family member?

A minor surgery went horribly wrong and I had to have my leg amputated. Never got a straight answer from Musicant (Screwsicant). RUN FOR YOUR LIFE!!

During sclrotherapy he missed the vein and injected the caustic substance into nerve tissue. Tenyearsagony.

He is a good surgeon.

We waited for over an hour to see the doctor and the admitting nurse was so rude!! I would find another doctor for next time!

Dr. Musicant is the kind of Doctor that every one hopes to find. He's thorough, dedicated, and explains exactly what procedure he will perform to correct your problem. My problem was an Abdominal Aortal Aneurism that needed attention. He choose the Stent procedure and it was a life savor. He's a no nonsense hind of guy that displays the confidence and assurance that you know you are in good hands.

Dr. Scott was the best doctor. Not only was his staff so helpful and professional, but when we found my insurance would'nt cover his hospital fees, he along with Marla petitioned the isnurance to get my procedure done. I am a 32 Personal trainer and healthclub owner who relies on being physical to make a living. He went above and beyond insuring my health. He comes from a family of Doctors and takes his "calling" seriously. Every staff member I met at the hospital had the upmost respect for him and his abilities.
